So all the time? It's probably the reason I don't use the main male character in FF's unless it forces me to
From what I've see in preview vidoes it seems that the battle system is really similar to WoW and it's modern MMORPG cousins.Ok, I'm LOVING the battle system. No more cycling through annoying menus and macros!
Once the non-disclosure agreement is lifted you should post some screens.Did I mention the game is gorgeous?
I'm already making a photo album :DOnce the non-disclosure agreement is lifted you should post some screens.
Given my experience with my FFXI/PlayOnline account in the past I'm not surprised. Square has always been a pain in the ass when it comes to setting up/managing accounts.I'm already making a photo album :D
Edit: **** my account is suspended WTF!? I DIDNT SAY ANYTHING SE Q.Q OMG WTH
OK, wow got an email saying there was suspicious activity about my account and how they thought it was at risk and sent me a password reset? O.o
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuh? lol
If I get into phase III or when open beta starts I want to see for myself if it's a WoW clone. I played that game for... damn, like, seven years so I know if something is ripping it off.The players have a lot of mixed opinions, some think it will fail for being a WoW/Terra clone. (Though it isn't really a clone of anything outside of the standard MMO battle and quest system, but they're working to make it more interesting... can't say how though :S) Others are ready to open their wallets, haha.
Yop. Even listed the countless MMOs I've played and I mentioned the fact that I beta tested LOTRO.Did you take the survey or w/e after you applied? It increases your chances of being picked.
Despite the hate it gets, WoW is pretty good. Granted, the hate comes more from a stigma that MMORPGs have with the general public than anything wrong with the actual game. When EverQuest 1 was the dominant MMO it got similar flack. Honestly, my only real issues with WoW is the pointless faction system, the fact that the game babies its players and how every time a new expansion comes out every old piece of equipment quickly becomes null and void.I actually have never played WoW (didn't look appealing based on box covers etc) so I can't say if it's a WoW clone or not, but the battle system so far is basic MMO style. They've basically set that as the base and are going from there. Apparently Phase 2 is pretty much Phase 1 but with the gamepad... Phase 2 will probably be pretty short.
Better for end game content anyway. The gamepad controls are great! but... it's gonna get annoying switching between loadouts once you get enough skills to fill the first one... So I'm just going with keyboard
Really? What MMOs have you been playing? Most I know of have plenty to do at cap.Same here, I've played too many MMOs where the fun is leveling and then there's nothing to do once you reach max... DX
Well, there's your problem. Most free MMOs tend to be extremely light on content. And bad. Most of them I've played have been F2P because I haven't found anything that really grabbed my attention. Let's see here...
Fiesta Online
Flyff
Luvinia
Free Realms (It's not free btw)
When DCU came out a friend of mine gave me the guess pass to play, but at the time all I had was a craptop and I couldn't run it. Now that I have a proper desktop I really don't care enough to play it.Now there's another one I recently got into which is DC Universe, and this one seems to have lot's of stuff after you reach max level, and getting there only takes about a week. o:
Seeing how XIV actually has a budget, and XI is known for it's expansive end game PVE content, you can bet that XIV will actually have **** to do at cap.I'm sure a lot of the 'big name' MMOs don't have that issue though, but from the ones that I've played, I hope XIV doesn't end up like that. :S (I doubt it will though)
Stop playing free to play MMOs, that's how you break the cycle =/The last game I played that I actually truly enjoyed was probably Toontown when I was 9-13. It was so well done and had a lot of things for you to do, it never really got old. I just sorta outgrew it. DX Since then, I haven't found anything that looked worth paying a subscription for. I'm hoping XIV will break that cycle. :D
I really don't consider Guild Wars free to play. While it doesn't have a subscription fee you still have to pay to get in.Not all F2P MMOs are absolute garbage. Well, at least not the ones where you actually have to buy the game, anyway. Personally, I'd recommend GW2 (Guild Wars 2) and TSW (The Secret World) as great alternatives to WoW. They're actually pretty damn fun.
When it comes out you should join our linkshell and do endgame stuff with us.As for Realm Reborn, I plan on giving it a fair shake, like I do with just about every other MMO that comes out.

I've decided that once you start WoW, you never truly quit. Ever. Three of my friends still play and whenever I heard them talk about it it makes me want to restart my subscription so I can finish the dailies to get my Cloud Serpent. And then while I'm at it I might as well finish leveling my Shaman, Monk and Warlock, and I should get some new gear for my mage...Lmao. I feel ya there, Finalark. Such a weird *** symbiont that we have with WoW.
I'll agree with you here. The probably I've run into with most micro-transaction oriented MMOs is that eventually it hits a point where your demo ends and you have to start buying EXP boosters and other pay-to-win items from the shop unless you want to spend the next several months grinding for eight hours a day.As for what you were saying about Guild Wars and having to pay for it once to get in? I guess you could say it isn't free to play, natch, but the microtransaction model that ArenaNET employs is (IMO) what more MMOs of this nature should utilize. Not a dime can be dropped for something advantageous over the other guy, save for a relatively minor XP buff while leveling. That's it. Everything else is more or less cosmetic in nature. I don't mind making a one-time payment if it means that I don't have to worry about the other guy having deeper pockets, and I have access to all that the game offers right out of the gate.
You have my interest. I've been longing for challenging questing, I'm tired of WoW's and other current MMOs quests boiling down to "get me twenty bear asses" or "click on this very bright and obvious sparkling thing."I think you'll really like TSW. It may not have robust PvP content, but the PvE experience is simply top notch. Definitely one of the best overreaching stories I've seen in a MMO, at least in my limited experience. Questing is actually a challenge, oftentimes a brainteaser that will really test you. Reminds me of the old point-and-click adventures like Myst at points---just as immersive and just as challenging. The game almost taunts you by including an in-game web browser accessed through a menu (your character's smartphone), almost saying that "you're going to be needing this."
I'll really have to look into this game. I've been wanting to play a genuinely challenging MMO for a long time now and TSW looks like it has a very unique setting on top of that.I can't really speak for dungeons and raids, but I hear that the Nightmare variants can be tricky with some oddball mechanics. The game even gearchecks AND skillchecks you and your party prior to doing the hardmode, to see if you're up to snuff. TSW just went the same route as GW2, insofar as buying the game once (thirty bucks, iirc) and having unlimited access to the content after the fact. There are membership tiers, but you don't really get anything major that goes with it, save for some bullcrap vanity items and a minor XP boost at the highest tier (which, admittedly, is important in TSW as you more or less have to "level up again" in order to respec, but it's not a big deal).
I'm not entirely sure I'll actually be able to do much end game stuff in ARR or any MMO right now for that matter. College and work eat up your time.As for Realm Reborn? I'll definitely join your Linkshell and do stuff with you guys. Just lemme know.

IV is available on DS, you might be able to find it at a Game Stop for around $20. It's also on GBA, which is usually the cheaper version.i saw all of them for cheap on amazon (all were under $10) except for VII and IV, but anyone know a better place?
