Honestly, I don't even think new consoles are worth getting unless they've been out for at least a year or two.

I really don't have the money to afford a new console right now anyway, I'm not really interested in the PS4 or Wii U right now.

My girlfriend and I are getting a Wii U at some point next week (or possibly a little later than that). As of now, there are no games that screams "buy a Wii U", but I do know there are some future games that I will want, like Wind Waker HD (since I haven't played Wind Waker yet), a new main series Zelda, and of course Smash 4. Who knows? Maybe the next main series Final Fantasy will finally grace (or disgrace, if it sucks) a Nintendo console once again?

I was hoping SE would cross-platform the next games and have it work on the Wii U, that way I could just buy a Wii U, cuz usually I don't really care for most of the other PS games.

As of right now, I probably won't buy a Wii U until Monolith's new RPG comes out, or SSB4 comes out. There's nothing I want for it atm.

On another note, omg I have to be 18 to get the free 1 year of PS+. -.-

*makes new account saying I'm 18* >.> that's just dumb

Also, was FFX being made just for the Vita, or for PS3 and Vita? I want it but don't want a vita .-. lol

For the PS3, if I remember correctly. They may also release it on the Vita, but I'm fairly positive it's coming to the PS3. Same goes for the Kingdom Hearts HD collection as well.

Yes, it's being made for Vita. I don't know about when it will come out, since Square seems to have a bit of a history of taking their sweet time on things people want but getting their ass in gear for games nobody asked for.

WANT *-*

I got FFXIII today
I'm at the part where it showed Snow and Serah's engagement
and I'm LOVING it! I really don't understand all the hate it has =/

Maybe I'm too early into it, but it's really fun so far. The only thing I don't like is that I can't change the party leader until halfway through, but that's not really a big issue.

Story, characters, pacing problems, and linearity were my problems making it my least favorite. But honestly don't let anyone else's (or my) opinion bog down your experience. I highly suggest you read those datalogs in your menu or whatever to help give you a better understanding of the story and terms. It's like trudging through wiki articles, but I think it helps.

My only gripe with XIII was the linearity and lack of any real side quests. I liked just about everything else. It's not my favorite FF game, but I still love playing it just the same.

Also noticed that it's the first FF in awhile to not feature any side mini-games/gameplay in the actual main story. 7 had the most, iirc.
Not exactly a huge downer, but something I missed.

I HATE MINIGAMES. Especially the ones that you're required to do, like blitsball in X. Omg I sucked so bad at that and it took forever. I also usually only do side quests if it gives you a cool item, as long as it won't take me 3 years to finish. Lol

Speaking of X, XIII is very similar with the long hallways .-. lol.

I've been reading the data logs, I always try to read everything available. :3 (except monster bestiaries) The logs have really helped explain a lot of stuff.

I'm really liking the battle system. The paradigms are interesting.

I guess it's just me, but I liked the stuff that detracted from the normal gameplay since they felt special. Opera House, Auction, Triple Triad and Tetra Master, Chocobo Hot and Cold, Chocobo Racing, dodge Elena's punch in disc 2, motorcycle and submarine segment, VII's CPR and dolphin segment (lol), squats, FFXII notoriety, Galbadia invading Balamb, and etc gave me good memories.

XIII's very streamlined which can be fine. People argue X is the same way, but X had better pacing with towns and cutscenes giving me a little breather. Might be nostalgia goggles, but I thought X's dungeons weren't entirely linear. I would've liked XIII a lot more if Gran Pulse was introduced as early as leaving Midgar. Or at least alternate chapters between party members on Cocoon to party members on Pulse.

Mini games can actually be alright and they can sometimes tie in. Like, I remember that if you played a lot of Triple Triad in FFVIII, it'd help you out a bunch later.

I hated blitzball, everything else was alright. :3

My issue with XIII is that all the sidequests (Cie'th stone missions) were all the same.

Funny little story: I initially despised Blitzball because for starters, you were required to play during the story. Secondly, I sucked and had no idea what to do. Finally, did I mention I sucked? Then fast forward to end game and I'm busy getting all the characters' ultimate weapons. I come to find out that Wakka's ultimate weapon can only be obtained by playing Blitzball. So I decided to suffer the grind. Then, as I kept playing, more and more of my teammates got better and better, and I suddenly found myself getting into the game. Not only did my team become unstoppable, but I also found myself just playing for the hell of it, including wanting to unlock Jecht Shot and Jecht Shot 2 for Tidus. Suffice it to say, I came back around once I gave it a second chance, and now I love playing Blitzball.

And then they went and ****ed it up in X-2.

Lmao.

I haven't played X-2 yet. (Can never find a copy, and now GS discontinued PS2 games =c)

The only minigames I ever really liked were the ones in the Kingdom Hearts series. They're usually integrated into the main story though.

Shouldn't be that hard to find copies of X-2 though. The gamestore that I work at sells new ones, so...

I also really liked TWEWY's Tin Pin Slammer, my perfect minigame.

I finished XIII last night, it was tons of fun. I really liked the story as well... the ending was very well done.

I started playing XIII-2 a bit... whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat??? What does any of this have to do with XIII, and when did Lightning become a Warrior Goddess? O.o?

I really don't get why everyone hated it! It's not much different from X...
People keep telling me that. But the thing is, it basically kept all the bad things in X (and magnified it) and removed all the good stuff. The story and writing doesn't even make sense at times, and it was more linear than X. It also didn't help that half of the game held your hand by making it feel like a tutorial.

I'd actually like to have a discussion on why some people like/dislike XIII though, since I'm curious on why some people find it great.

There's also the completely different battle system.

I may not have liked X that much, but at least I could enjoy the battle system.

Music wasn't very memorable in XIII imo either, I can only remember the battle theme and death metal chocobo, the last one wasn't even from XIII. X had some good music.

I like XIII, but I don't know if I can say that it's a good game. It has a lot of flaws, and I totally understand why people don't like it. However, XIII-2 is awesome and I think it's a legitimately good game. It has a decent story, the characters are more interesting (especially the villain, and he has great motivations), the time travel aspect is really cool and very well done (especially how your actions affect the past and future), the sidequests have some nice variety compared to XIII. I don't think the music is particularly memorable, but it grew on me.

I also really like the battle system a lot, though it's much more refined in XIII-2. Half the fun of those games was learning how to abuse the system, but that's just my two cents.

EDIT: Also, XIII-2 has that monster catching thing going on, and that's pretty cool too. It makes your team much more customizable.

I actually liked XIII's story and how it took inspiration from classical mythology by crafting a world in which humans and gods interact on a regular basis. It's issue was that it fell into the typical fantasy literature trap of having too many made up nouns to keep track of that it constantly hammered you with.

Not to mention I also think that Sazh Kalroy is legitimately the best-written character to ever come out of a Final Fantasy game.

Fal'Cie, L'cie, C'eith; those took a little bit to understand what those are and what the difference between them were.

I agree Sazh is indeed one of the best written characters, though I still love Adelbert Steiner from IX for his comedy.

Sazh was a refreshing change of pace from previous games. Finally somebody different!

Vanille also REALLY grew on me. She was almost the main character, I mean, she was the narrator and everything. She was really annoying/dumb at first, and i didn't like that. When I found out it was all an act, everything started to make sense and come together.

As for XIII-2... not sure what to think of it yet. So far it seems really stupid. (Just got the first artefact and I'm on Cocoon with Atlus) It feels like Final Fantasy meets Kingdom Hearts to me... Especially with the monster system that reminds me of Dream Drop Distance.

The dialogue has been pretty cheesy so far.

Were the Fal'Cie, L'cie, and C'eith EVER explained? I'm not trying to knock, I'm just curious since I legit remember it seeming like we were supposed to know what they were despite not being told.
