After seeing a ton of dubbed and subbed anime's, I have so say that subbed just seems so natural. Like the acting done by the voice actors really show's how much they put into their acting.

I am really qurious to see who will voice Levi in Shingeki's dub. He's the most popular character, and getting that wrong could result in a lot of hate. *thinks Roy Mustang's Voice Actor would be good for it*

If they don't get the right voice actor for Levi, the dubbed is f*cked GG. However I do think Travis Willingham (mustang's voice actor) would be a good fit.

I might be OK with todd haberkorn doing either Eren or Armin. He did Ling in FMA, Death The Kid in Soul Eater, Natsu in FairyTail

I think Gilbert Gottfried might be a good fit for Levi.
LOL the dude who played Iago in Kingdom hearts and Aladdin?

Todd would be another good candidate as well.

Sub vs. dub? Oh boy... This is a really subjective matter. I don't have anything against dubs, except in live action series/movies, where it's really awkward to see. When it's animated, I have no problem with dubbing.

Some dubs are of better quality than others, obviously, but then again, it depends on the voice direction and on the actors' talent. There are good and bad actors everywhere, Japan included. In the end, it's a matter of personal preference. For me, I don't care much about that.

EDIT: I am the new OP of this thread. (don't panic asianaussie)

Hehehhe...... I actually read all the chapters now. I gave up on waiting on the anime >.>
Blue Exorcist premiers next Saturday on toonami. This is so amazing. It's at the very least my 3rd time watching it.

Why lol @ one of my favorite ongoing series? I ain't got time for another series. I'll watch it maybe today if I get time.

Now then, any series you want recommended in the OP?

im starting to think you have a weird crush on me, given how much you single me out
I'm pretty sure you hate me, so I went on ahead and said that just for you.

Anyway, on the topic of series to add to recommended in the OP. A few I am considering-
-Bakuman
-Soul Eater
-Fullmetal Alchemist

Just the 3 my tired, sleepless, foggy head could come up with. (Up until 2:00 toonami, read bakuman the rest of the night)

Sleep is over rated

Any other awesome series you recommend? I thought Shingeki, but I'm debating it. I refuse to add sword art.

You're right, I apologize for laughing at your show. If it makes you feel any better, I thought Watamote was pretty good.

I disagree with Bakuman. I can't see someone that's just getting into anime/manga liking it all that much. While I don't like Soul Eater or FMA all that much myself, I can see how they would appeal to most people so they have my blessing.

Go ahead and add the Aria series, both manga and anime.

bakuman is kinda niche and the other two are straight shounen, no matter how interesting or well written they are, which may not appeal to people

you might be an ok guy irl, who knows

Well, berserk is on the OP, so I can't exactly see SE and FMA as being that bad of a choice. Bakuman popped into my head first because I've been reading it.

I first really got into anime after seeing soul eater. It's a petty calm series in comparison to some in the OP, and FMA is just an overall a good series. Any other than Aria?

I think it did its job which was to make you ridiculously uncomfortable. That was the most second-hand embarrassment I've ever felt for someone. Can't fault it for being weird.

Oh and Berserk is worlds different from Soul Eater and FMA. One appeals to adults, the other for teenagers.

And? That doesn't give it any more merit for being in the OP.

Space dandy just ran through my head for the OP as well :D

The point is that it's dark enough for someone that isn't interested in generic kid's anime to enjoy. It's just... different from the standard stuff so it's more than worthy of being there. The manga especially is incredibly acclaimed.

Space Dandy is also the worst possible thing you could ever put in the OP.

It was a joke. I'll stand by FMA and SE, both are good series for people new to anime.

Hmm. Log Horizon? It beats the hell out of SAO to say the least.

I was never disputing that, you silly little goofball.

I'd say Sword Art is a better gateway anime than Log Horizon. Not that it's good or anything, I just notice it's a popular gateway anime for a lot of people. Mostly the younger crowd. I wouldn't add either of them, honestly. How much anime have you watched?

For now I'm debating on the big series I've watched. You never do answer me.... :I

I plan on making the OP more organized firstly. The giant wall of series and descriptions feels too big.(Ridley) *laughs*.adding some pics and whatnot. I think I'll do that while thinking of series I think newcomers to anime might leik.

I would recommend SAO, but dat second arc.I might wait until the second season is out and see if I should add it.

I plan on watching Sakura trick before I go to bed.

I totally answered you.

I'm also pondering whether or not Oyasumi Punpun would have a place in this list. It's some next level drama, but I'm worried it's a little too eccentric for newcomers. Has anyone here read it?

I thought Okami-San & Her Seven Companions
More of an obscure series based off light novels, it's pretty lighthearted and funny. Only 12 episodes. The jokes about the main character's flat chest make me worry that it would insinuate that anime is mostly pornographic, which is what I try to avoid.

I can't read my manga at school without people saying "Oh look, he's reading anime porn". (or "ERMAGERD IT'S A BACKWARDS BOOK!") Though it does prove the people at my school to be culture rejecting bigots with nothing going for them in their meaningless lives. They think the stereotypical "Anime is girls in short skirts with big eyes and big boobs swinging a big sword"...

Yeah, definitely don't add that.

You're not much better by making spiteful assumptions about the type of people they are. So they insult your Chinese cartoons, don't let it get to you. Kids are stupid. Just put on some headphones, blast the 2.B.A. Master Pokemon album, and immerse yourself in some vastly superior loli comics. Alternatively, have you tried talking with them? Clearing up their misconceptions may not be a bad idea and you could make some friends in the process!

Oh and I'd also suggest Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World and One Outs. The former is an episodic, adventurous series about a traveler and her motorcycle. The latter is a thrilling baseball series where the protagonist just psychologically destroys everyone that gets in his way.

LOL
My assumptions aren't assumptions. I deal with stupid, thick headed rednecks who are stuck in their old ways. They can't accept anything that they aren't used to.Clearing misconceptions of people who are willingly ignorant is trying to make dry water, It won't work.

Aria
Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World
One Outs
Soul Eater
FMA

That's a few good ones. I am working on the OP, making the descriptions collapsed might help with it being so long.

College/Adult master race reporting in. I can read whatever I want, whenever I want, in front of anyone I want and I ain't got no problems with what anyone thinks and nobody really cares either. In fact, the only time anyone does say something about what I'm reading (which is very rare), they're just curious or they read manga themselves.

If that's the case, then don't concern yourself with the opinions of plebs. I've come to distrust the opinions of anyone that gave Mirai Nikki a 7 or higher. Oh and anyone that dropped Bakemonogatari can suck a fat one. The moral of the story is that everyone has **** taste except for you. And by you, I mean me. I am the arbiter of all things just.
