Lets see....I don't think they're far off.

I mean right now people who've tried to attend a tournament of any sort would be Reflex, Elev8, George, Serin, Slam(<.<;; would love it if he would actually want to drive further though), and well from the last WABA, Me, Zero, and Derp.

As far as top 10 or top 15 goes. I feel after a few more tournments a lot of good players would be left out. Oh and honorable mentions doesn't really feel...important at all. I mean for example. I feel Art Dude wouldn't have any justice in being knocked out of top 10 because of someone...say Zero Gamer took his spot. He's a solid player and he has proved it. Top 15 seems to be fair for a joint community. I would use MD/VA as an example but they've recently just gone to making only 10 ppl PR.

Once again, the idea is great. Execution will need time to take place.

note that a top 10 between the 2 states (at the time we would be doing this) would ensure that the list we do make will have notable names and give a more professional appearance for our states. top 15 seems like a more desperate act to make people feel better about formerly being on one list and then getting knocked off when they mix. This is not to say that the people not included aren't great players, but it would be a much more straight forward list. we want this thing to be a showcase of the very best players from both states, it shouldn't need to go over 10.

I really can't argue with that.
Well, from what I've seen, Alabama is ok with this. I'll issue a vote to see if I'm right. Georgia can do the same thing if they really are interested in the idea.

When would be an ok time to issue this if both states are completely ok with this? I recommend sometime mid fall.

IDK what you're talking about the PR being "too hard" to get on, go look at TX, NJ, FL, and SoCal PRs, those are the stacked ones

If there were to be a merge, a top 15 would be a necessity I would imagine simply because AL and GA both have their own individual communities, right? Which is reason enough for a merge to be kind of a silly idea, but I won't be around for much longer so my opnion doesn't really count too much.

Also, if the merge would eventually occur, you would have to start it in a new season (after the next PR has been dedicated) and at least start it off with a dedicated attendance from both states. As in a huge Waba tourney with 45+ people that had both AL and GA attendants, and the good ones from each state

This is why I think a merge could be a huge success. I want bigger tournaments that can attract people from states beyond GA and AL. The more good players we get to go, the more it will attract other good players from NC, SC, FL, etc.

First of all, before we have a merge...

ALABAMA SHOULD SHOW UP TO THESE MORE THAN ONCE A YEAR!!

/not directed at elev8 nor reflex.

I don't see how my post basically saying that a merge would be a bad idea is a reason to do it...

yeah if more of AL came to our tournaments more often I wouldn't have any problem at all with it.

I haven't posted on this discussion yet... but I'm going to now because I don't want to do school work.

Merging Alabama and Georgia's PRs together isn't a bad idea, just unnecessary imo. The result would be a very strong looking PR and enticement for players from both states to attend more of each others tournaments. That's the argument and it's not a bad one.

In reality I think it would change little. The people who make it on the PR already go to all/most the tournaments anyways and everyone else will still only go to tournaments they want/can go to and I don't think a PR will change that for most.

It'll seem possible/a good idea for now since it's the Summer season and everyone has more time, but when this PR season ends along with Summer... the attendance rate will go back to being NEARLY normal and you know it.

The only way to actually get a more active community as a whole would be for the players to make it so. A PR doesn't make the community and never has. Most of the people on the PR are the most active players already. The only thing a PR does is give a healthy sense of competition and a goal for people not on it to achieve. I don't know if making a "harder" PR aka putting that goal further away is a good idea.

Personally, I kind of like the idea in general I just think it's unnecessary. These 40 man tournaments are great but it's really just because of Summer and imo if you love them so much, take the steps necessary to keep them like that and that doesn't really include merging a PR. It includes planning ahead, getting rides for everyone, inviting new players, and hyping the **** up. Stop johning and help get the community more alive (this is directed at both states).

Btw, I go to EVERY smash activity EVER. I haven't missed a tournament (I was even at Impact Clash) in forever and I throw/go to every Smashfest. You guys need to just BE more active for the community to be active. It's as simple as that.

EDIT: My additional opinion is that this decision should be reevalutated after the current PR season. If the "merged" community proves to still be strong and active during the school seasons then I am ALL for the merged PR. I think the community needs to prove itself before we take this step.

Man Terrance... way to QUIT Brawl.

Lol just playing. Just because I got a new icon and avatar doesn't mean I forgot about DK. I still enjoy playing him... just not in a competitive sense. The way some people play against him and some match-ups just make playing him in bracket no fun.

MK was my first main and I enjoyed playing him the most before I found out he was broken. I only quit him WHEN I found out he was broken, lol. So now I've just gone full circle and I have fun both playing him and competing with him.

I can't even look at any of the good points you just made.
Ha, you acknowledged my points were good though :D

lol @ that change from Dk to MK, that is ridiculous
Not ridiculous! But you can't deny that my new avatar isn't sexy as hell.

Yes, but people are talking about a merge much more than coming to more tournaments. I feel as if people are expecting the merge without putting any effort towards showing up.

lol yea I know Mike I was mostly just refering to the avatar change. I was kind of in the same boat at one point but after awhile I thought about it and I don't know why MK players get talked down... Not playing MK because he's too good is like not dating a girl because she's to pretty.

There is no way I'd be ok with it if the Alabama community ended up failing to show up.

But regardless it seems the only people for it are Cam,Elev8, Stealth and Reflex. 3 of which are regulars because they live much closer to this than we do.

:l I'm pretty undecided. I know I can't make it to every one of these, or perhaps even frequently.
George isn't for it, I doubt Will would be. Cheap and Zero are undecided.

It seems a few from Georgia aren't for it either.

I'd like to point out that Art Dude's post makes a very good point. For those of you who don't like wall of text but want an answer on why this would not be a good idea...Read that post, study it, review it.

One of the reasons I'm for it is just to make our region look stronger. The stronger the region=the more OoSers will want to come here for tournaments which is great because we don't get many OoSers.

That can also be fixed by being consistent in having high turnout tournaments. If you noticed, Lee Martin said he didn't even know WABA had decent turnouts. :] Don't worry I'm all for you guys getting a bigger turnout at the monthlies. It just means more fun for when Bama stops by.

As a previous resident of New York, i'd like to say that getting to tournaments were alot easier then GA. The only reason i havent been able to attend WABA (which i really wanna go to) is because the lack of a ride.

public transportation drops off 10 min walk from the venue. I am not certain about what train to take or bus, but I have heard it is really close.

why am I not eligible? Lack of tournaments?

Also, I don't know why Turtl is above Scatt. Turl beat Scatt on the first tournament on the list and placed 1 place lower than him, but Scatt got 2nd at the next one and then they tied at the most recent monthly, but even though Turtl beat Scatt, Scatt also has beaten top ranked players like Reflex and Kismet.

Also on the merged PR, Scatt has also has done better than Billy at 2 tournaments and Billy did better than him at one.
