While I am quite confident that won't happen, the answer is Yes! It would be much better if PP were to beat Armada this weekend. What would be far better than that however would be if someone were other than those to win the tournament.

We've had the same best 5 players for a year and half now, and only the top 3 seem plausible to win an international tournament. It's harming the community.

I don't think Ken, who dominated for ~2 years, harmed the community that much at all. And he dominated even harder than Armada has now.

That was a different time. We had MLG back then, the community and the metagame was on fire. That was ''Who can defeat Ken''!? now it's just ''Armada is going to win again'' the situations aren't really comparable.

The community is still on fire. There is awesome competition. And our top players are the best they've ever been.

The fact that so few can even touch Armada just goes to show how deep this game is. The skill gap is what makes Melee good.

A realist is someone that will never be truly a champion. It's true that you have to look at yourself in a way from a 3rd person's perspective in order to actually fix your problems as a player.. but in this case it doesn't apply. It's true that Armada's skill level was better at that particular tournament but that doesn't mean other players aren't improving to reduce that gap or make it bigger beyond him.

Also generally someone that looks at the world with no care or is depressed in someway will not be able to look beyond of "Oh he's going to win, again, who cares.. no one has a chance."

The results will look like Impulse, pretty a much mirror reflection as what most people list as they're top 5(and in the same order too)

I remember Armada saying he beat Hbox in the first two games just to make sure he could and then sandbagged the other 3. Which seems to be entirely believable since he won gfs 3-0. He beat Mango 3-0 and imo PP was lucky to take a game off of him. The gap is only growing wider. I wouldn't be surprised if PP didn't take a single game from him at Smasher's Reunion.

Eventually Armada will lose of course. I imagine he'll get bored of not being challenged, just like Mango did when he screwed around as Scorpion Master.

But unlike what you are saying he definitely has a chance and has done it before, its just an uphill climb. Also you can't know for sure whether the skill gap will grow or shrink between each tournament. Also what would Armada gain from sandbagging a set he was so close to winning away to Hungrybox?
