indeed :ohwell: stocks are a decent way of seeing how well you measure up though, and since most ppl don't get past pools, stocks are all they have.
NO, stocks are no indication of skill. I sandbag in friendlies vs lesser players all the time because i dont need to try my best to win, im sure a lot of others do this too [Z]

Z- i mean if ppl dont DI away you can hammer them with 3 nairs in a row where as spacies will hit the floor before the second hitbox comes out
Read my above post + fair enough, though trust me there are lots of nair combos on spacies.

Aiko:I suppose that depends on how many games and how deserved you got the stock. If Charles jumps off the stage when he could have edgehogged you and you shine him when he misses, thats hardly a noteable way of how you measure up to him.

While Im at it I might as well mention some things people can do differently so that I dont exploit them cause they are too easy to see:
-stop jumping at predictable times, think about what you're doing
-learn your characters out of shield game
-dont constantly attack and stop coming from the air, particularly if you're a Marth
-careful around the opponents shield
-learn your characters grab game inside-out,you do not want to miss a grab opportunity!

i have to agree with this, i dont intentionally sandbag but i usually play much better in tournaments or a set with some sort of pressure, though some people are the opposite, of course you cant take tournament results as the be all and end all as people sometime just have bad days for whatever reason. But no johns.

I suppose when someone is of considerably greater skill, then stocks aren't much of an indicator, but what about players of similar level? I think this ones gone on a bit too long. Final say is, Zeppo is right, only tourney counts, or maybe high stake MM.

JO3: at the moment, its a bit blurry to say who's better, but I'd say you are, overall. On a technical level, i'd say I'm be slightly better, but in terms of mindgames and experience, you're miles ahead. Its not just about how well we play against each other, but how well we do against other people, and I reckon you'd be the one people put their money on over me.

*snore*

I'm the best Sambucamus in town. Suck it.

The earlier this tournament is, the less likely I am to come. I have 60p atm, so until I have work, I have no money.

Bill, it is very straining to play your very best all the time. Takes a lot of concentration, too much so infact that i can't even be arsed doing so in tourneys anymore nevermind friendlies lol. Don't take it personally that someone doesn't want to play their best against you, it is just too much effort for something that isn't really needed.

In other words, friendlies don't mean **** lol. What i used to do was money match people so then they couldn't make sandbag johns.

lol@jam taking already made rap lyrics and adding nair in the middle to make it relevant

I prefer vodka

Woot relevant post lol

vodka is pretty foul, sambuca is pretty nice, vodka red bull is gorgeous, sambuca with coke is apparently an outrage ^_^

just ask golfie about that one.

in fact ryan your bottle or vodka & coke is a result of his revenge from it lol

Rainhill - its small but everyone drinks.
Happy birthday Jam - Hope its a messy one!

September is loan time! That's when a student is rich. Plus no uni work would equal optimum time - just after freshers week.

Anyhows beer shot smash challenge - 99 stock each, every time you lose a stock you do a shot of beer. No pausing!

Aye Jam is right.... when i first started and i was near the bottom of the pile i used to hate sandbagging, i just wanted to play good players and try to improve every match i played, but then when you've been playing this game for a certain amount of time and you get to a certain skill level it's very hard to get motivated to try your hardest against lesser players, espescially in friendlies.

At ROS4 i won a game from Aldwyn ( lost the set 2-1) he got second place in the tournie, but that doesn't mean that i am anywhere near as good as him even though i took him pretty close. There's way too many other factors and besides he ended up second IN THE TOURNIE where as i placed ???? Lets not even go there. So basically NJ bullet bill.

Also who the hell drinks alcohol for the taste, jesus christ !!!! You guys need to get some balls.

oh yeh happy birthday jam, same as the birds >_>

No one, but taste is an added bonus. It's the difference between drinking urine and slightly watered down urine.

I always try my best not to sandbag in friendlies. When I was an inexperienced player I wanted to play the best players and if they sandbagged me then I was hardly playing them. Its a reason in itself to go to a tournament and if you sandbag them then they arent gaining anything from it.

I think you have to appreciate how much someone wants to gain from playing you even if it doesnt mean **** to you.The only time I sandbag in friendlies is if its a cocky **** Im playing or a Peach.

Sandbagging is different from playing bad or playing for fun.

Happy Bday Jam
