so on a serious note. i figured hey, every time a tourney is happening its always the same people over and over. the occasional new player will show up and then suddenly never appear again (sfl. where da *** are the 2008/09/10 players).

reasons? well obviously cuz they got their butts whooped, got amazingly discouraged somehow, family affairs etc w.e anyway they're gone for a reason, and obviously they have nothing to go back to if its something negative ya know?

what id like to propose is everyone "bring a new smasher system"
we can grow our community, create new top players, socialize, enhance **** talkin, make us better as a whole ya know?

this mostly pertains to sfl. dunno i guess im just missin the hype back in the day where ppl would throw controllers or punch holes in tvs or the occasional eat a dyck comments, stuff like that.

anyway another proposal...wtf, why arent we practicing? its like the only time we practice is in tournament and thats lame as hell :\ i can never try or experiment anything because there's "no time" because i have to implement everything into practice in bracket. lame.

the srk community specifically, option-select, the sfl srk community (greenace, flashemetroid, ryanhunter, kelso, pandaluis, benski, von, jeff, tim, dreadz, etc) play...every...single...monday (mixup mondays) and thursdays.

they purposely do this to create hype for newcomers to show up and play/practice, stream one tv where the best player stays (records stream/matches for further analysis for the players themselves) and with this stream a new or average player can be like OMG see what i did there at 1:12 man i was sooo cool etc etc., and overall just play together, experiment and get better as a whole.

2link and i talked about this a while back. we could reserve one day a week thats not a tourney day obv and just practice! does nobody wanna get better? perhaps catch up to our other players? or maybe even test out random information?

so any proposals on how we can achieve this. it be amazing. something to look forward to every week. we got cars. we got jobs. we got smash. we in there.

And yeah, i actually did flirt with someone and got kicked out.
she was married.

But she also started it! And she got no punishment. I lost my home.

Ooooh I remember that conversation. I honestly would love the idea of a day for practice. I hate having the only time I get to practice/experiment be the couple hours of friendlies at tournaments before singles starts. It'd also be a lot easier on money since it's usually just three bucks to play at ZP anyway instead of $15 and up at tourneys.

About the bring a new player thing. I do that all the time. I know almost none of you here go to AllisBrawl regularly. There's a lot of Floridian wifi players. I reach out to any I see. I chat with them ask them about which part of the scene they happen to be near and if they attend events. The other night I was chatting with a new guy about coming to ZP. I tell everyone how inviting you guys usually are and people enjoy themselves when they come to events.

If you care to read here's a blog a new guy wrote after coming to his first tournament back in May:

http://allisbrawl.com/blogpost.aspx?id=111369

You guys do leave good impressions. I also think events like these will help lesser skilled players get a chance to connect and improve. It's very common problem in the smash community(FL isn't as bad, but it's still there) where the lesser players barely have much chance to come in contact with the better players unless money is involved.. The better players don't try as much to reach out to them and usually play eachother(despite them regularly doing that many other times outside of events). I hear those complaints(especially the end part of my last sentence) many times from players in other region's communities.

I've heard stories about the legendary FIU game room era. I honestly wish I had a chance at something like that(often times when I go to events, the last bit of offline practice I've had was at the event from last month, so I'm perpetually climbing and slipping as a player). Newer players to the community would love practice sessions and the community could improve as a whole that way. Plus it gives everyone, new or vet, a chance to connect and have fun without tournament stress/money involved(not to say I wouldn't like a manly MM once in a while, but yeah).

Eh, anyway I think I'm talking too much lol. I just wanted to support Benny's proposal since the topic really interested me when we spoke about it so long ago.

I practice!

That's because ESAM lives in my house and Seibrik lives down the street though...

Everybody's so bad at making plans.

LOL SHUT THE **** UP NICK YOU AND EVERY OTHER SMASH **** IN SOUTH FLORIDA ARE THE MOST UNRELIABLE PEOPLE ON EARTH

You guys can't make or keep any type of plans. This will never happen, you will never start regularly practicing ecause you are all incapable of any type of regular human communication, know no punctuality and cannot be depended on for anything.

Oh this is such a delicious scenario, your own unreliability comes back to bite you in the ***. Haha this is such a great day. LOL GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PRACTICE
Everytime I'm involved in a plan it works out fine. Problem DC? XD

DC, you still salty about that time at the fair?
I actually do make plans, and I go through with them. Just... generally not with you... or when the actual organizer of plans tells me they're going to be there later than they originally thought.

Also, I don't need to practice more than I do, so it doesn't hurt me one bit.

OKAY NICK, of all the unreliable people on smashboards... LOL. cant even take you seriously.

I will commend you (along with Seibrik and ESAM) on your UNCANNY ABILITY TO TRICK ****TY PLAYERS INTO ENTERING EVERY SINGLE TOURNAMENT LOL. DONT WORRY GUYS IM SURE YOU'LL WIN THE NEXT TOURNAMENT. KEEP FEEDING THAT POT WITH YOUR $10 BILLS

oh god I think my favorite part of people learning things the hard way is the initial realization phase. I really cant wait until some of you enter the real world............ LOL IF THAT EVER HAPPENS

UGH I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW

I know, right? I'm 100% unreliable, and everybody but you is wrong. How'd you guess?

Also, I don't trick people into entering tournaments. I give those who are there advice, but if they asked me of my opinion of them, I'd tell them they sucked to their face.
Nobody does though.

To add insult to injury, here is Jebailey('s friend) ****ting on you guys too.

A friend of mine posted this on my facebook group thread for CEO and made some very valid points I felt I should share.

Main thing I have against Smash is less the players than the game itself. Melee had some redeeming qualities, but Brawl has sealed the deal -- you just CAN'T turn Smash into anything RESEMBLING a real, competitive fighting-game-ish experience without legislating it all to hell.

Doesn't help that Sakurai is openly contemptuous of the kind of elements that appeal to competitive Smashers and actively tries to SABOTAGE such play with mechanics like tripping. This **** will NEVER improve as Smash continues to iterate. Capcom kinda likes us, even when we yell at them. Nintendo hates you and wants you to go away.

Your game, basically, has no future -- and that's not really helped by the insular, highly abnormal player culture fostered by (a) the abnormally legislative nature of competitive Smash, and (b) the relatively low median age of your average Smasher.

Can you be a functional, freshly showered adult and play competitive Smash? Absolutely, and I'd put pretty much every Smash player in this thread in that group. Are you reflective of the norm? I don't think so.

Putting aside the bathing jokes, Smash skews younger than games like SF/Tekken. Less consistent attendance, less money to feed into the scene, lower maturity level, none of that can help your game compete with the likes of SF4. Your pot monsters don't provide nearly the material contribution that ours do, because they're younger and they don't have full control over their lives. Your efforts go to waste because half your community stays home because their mom wants them to mow the lawn.

The moral of that story is, stop wasting your time and actual TALENT on a game+community like Smash, and bring it to a game with an actual future, where you will be recognized and appreciated.
