ZOMG I saw Ip Man yesterday. This HK/Chinese semi-bio martial arts film about Bruce Lee's master. The fight scenes are so awesome, and the film in general is basically anti-Japanese it's not even subtle XD Gonna see the sequel soon :D

then at a tourney the next day we saw a new guy there who looked just like ipman lol.
also ipman went on to train some other dude, who is now the wing chung grandmaster and invited my brother to come train with him in hong kong.

As It Is In Heaven is an excellent movie. So good in fact that it ran in a Dendy cinema in Sydney for almost 3 years due to popular demand.

What do y'all think of the new guy that was cast into the role of Spider-Man/Peter Parker, Andrew Garfield. I have never heard of him nor seen him before he was cast. Your thoughts?

Word among casting directors in Hollywood right now is the kid's got a lot of acting talent. He may not be well-known to the public, but the casting world's known it was only a matter of time before he got the lead in a major studio picture.

I think casting no name actors usually works out well.
too many movies use big name actors just because they are big name actors, and they usally dont fit the role (or at least not as well as it could have been) or they cant break out of a role thats been permently attributed to them (like keanu reaves and neo)

how to ruin a movie with a big name actor: put christian bale in it.

I also didnt like toby mcguire a whole lot as spiderman, he got the peter parker side pretty good, but he didnt really make a great actual spiderman, not enough smartarse quippy remarks and jokes, didnt catch that whole 'lololol who gives a ****, I'm spiderman' mood very well.

He looks the part enough, but his performance in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnussus (the only movie I've seen with him in it) isn't enough for me to provide critique on whether or not he can play the part. Providing they intend on starting the Spider-man franchise from when he was in high school, I think he has the look down pat. I want to see the Spider-man I remember, wise cracking and less emo brooding.

I'm just glad it's not Robert Patterson like the rumours suggested.

I'm not too sure about a Spiderman reboot so soon_ Raimi had the ball rolling until the studios decided to try and remove his creative control and i think we all know what happened with Spiderman 3_ I would of liked to see Raimi get the chance to make the 4th instalment with his control intact_ This just feels like a big "**** you" to Raimi after his falling out with a few particular execs_

What are peoples thoughts on the upcoming Captain America movie_? Not too sure about Chris Evans as the lead role_ Nailed Red Skull though_ Can't get any better than Hugo Weaving_ Also Joss Whedon directing "The Avengers" *rolls on floor in hysterics*_
