Easy come, easy go. While this doesn't change my thoughts on whether or not Mewtwo's included in the game, some peace of mind would've been nice. But at the same time, I'm almost glad it was fake. Mewtwo feels like such a guarantee already, so all this would've done was hurt K. Rool's reputation in the long run.

I agree plus sakurai has put in all the highly requested characters into the new game (mega man,litle mac,rosilina,charizard,palutana,pac-man) and mewtwo has had a larger outcry then most of them combined so if he's not in he knows fans wont be happy and the need more sales for the wii u and 3ds which mewtwo would help boost that

It was just a random guy on GameFAQs who said that Falco would be revealed this week, and that K. Rool is a boss and Mewtwo is returning. Can't give a screenshot or a link because the post was deleted.

Didn't Sakurai say during the roundtable when he was asked when Greninja was put onto the planned roster he said something along the lines of "we had a spare space for a Pokemon, we saw the draft for Greninja and we put him in."
Firstly Sakurai wouldn't need to approach Game Freak for another pokemon (other than licensing reasons) if he unless he put Mewtwo on the roster.
Secondly if you combine this with "We're thinking about it." Mewtwo still has really good chances. (Also every other point that has been made.)

Welcome! And yeah, agreed. Biases aside, it wouldn't make much sense for Sakurai to leave Mewtwo out this time around. He's in demand, relevant and current (X/Y, movie 16, Pokemon Art Academy, etc.) Realistically, sure, anything can happen, but the odds are in Mewtwo's favor (movie pun not intended.) Sakurai knows what's happneing in the Smash community, I trust that he's not insensitive to his fans. It's only a matter of time 'til we get the news.

Well here's what I think - As far as I know, Sakurai hasn't really spoken out about other potential characters in that manner. Especially at that particular Developer's Conference. The fact that he answered means that his decision is leaning more towards yes, because if he was unsure or on the fence about it, (I would think) he wouldn't have said anything given that he was just part of the audience. Also, the fact that someone had a question specifically about Mewtwo being in Smash 4 during a Pokemon X/Y conference must show Sakurai that he is indeed wanted - not to mention how easy it is to find out how much people want him back by doing a simple Google search. I try to be logically hopeful heh.

I would never accuse Sakurai of being a liar if Mewtwo wasn't put in, nor should anyone have a right to. Though I would be far less interested in the game and might just settle for the 3DS version instead of buying both (and a WiiU system since I don't have one yet.) Definitely don't mean that to be spiteful, I just wouldn't be all that excited. Unless they reveal someone more awesome than Mewtwo, which would be hard to do...

Most new members come in thinking Mewtwo's chances are dead because of Greninja.
Great job finding that evidence, I discovered that myself as well.

And technically Sakurai would have been "lying" for getting our hopes up like that.
However what makes me very confident is that he wasn't even talking about Mewtwo, rather Mewtwo's Mega Evolution. That being said, why would Mewtwo Y be considered without Mewtwo?

Mewtwo has always been the only character that I considered a shoo-in. He has been intended to be on all the smash games and I don't think this game will be an exception.

He'll be playable, I'm 95% sure of it.

Well yea thats a fantasic hint for atleast 1 reveal for the event.

However mewtwo would probably be better for a world reveal like in august for hype for smash bros coming out very soon.

It doesn't reveal anything new, or even really hint at anything (else it would've been all over Smashboards by now). Paraphrasing, basically says "Wonder who could be next!" Welcome to the club, random ad. People are thinking it's teasing Shulk for whatever reason.

Seems like a similar event to the one they did here in the US with Best Buy. Is there anything that would suggest otherwise?
