ths is pretty **** good, prime. very consistent.
this is essentially what i do to practice. i just freestyle about the terrain and try to edge-cancel a lot of **** lol

Never thought I'd see the day.
But well... it shouldn't take too much getting used to, really. You're already good at being defensive/baiting approaches, the idea of upBing out of shield replacing shield-grab shouldn't be alien to you, and then use more grounded moves instead of sh aerials and you'll be golden.

How do I go about becoming decent with her?

Learn to control her, completely.
Wavedash OoS
UB OoS
Learn to missile cancel
Practice your wavedash, you must NOT miss any wave dash.
Wavedash tilts, you must NOT miss wave dash tilts (dtilt/ftilt/uptilt even, mostly ftilt though)

She is not a 'fast' character. You cannot spam moves and get away with them (you are not fox, don't run in with nairs and fairs and dairs and expect not to get shield grabbed), your moves should be responses to your opponents moves. If you do wish to attack, make sure you space it so you cannot get punished (IE; grab OoS, shine OoS, etc.)

Close options with missiles, see how they respond to them. If they shield, run in with a grab, if they attack through the missiles, is it punishabe? If so, then do it. If not can you wavedash in and shield it? If so, then do it and UB them.

In HugS podcast he says that he tries to find a counter to everything, this is what you need to do. Samus CAN win, never forget that. You don't have to spam missiles or hide in your shield all day either.


Also, some tips:
DO NOT ROLL.
Save your jump when you get hit off the stage.
WAVE DASH OUT OF SHIELD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My friend and marths who know the samus matchup in general like to dash attack under my SH missiles, I'm curious to see how this will change that
