I'm getting ready to head down now... I'm a little nervous about going because I've never been to one of these things... It will probably affect my game play...

How's this for a deal? If your organization sets up 8 tvs/cubes for us, then we won't ask for any compensation for the TVs/Cubes we bring.

MD/VA is good at delivering people, and we're also good at bringing setups. All we really want is a quickly running tourny. Would that be a fair deal?

Cannot wait for this. A couple of questions:

Is all the info on the first post still accurate or is some outdated? Like, for example, are pools still going to be randomly chosen, top two advance? And exactly how is doubles working, "only in pools?"
Thanks!

The tournament is going to be ran like a normal tournament. Doubles first, then singles. Pools wont happen or any of that trash.

I don't conrol the number of set ups. I just tell EGL what they need, and EGL decides to get it or not. I told EGL 8 setups, so hopefully it will work out.

hey everybody, i hope you check this. I went to EGL tonight and got some details, EGL Mike doesn't know what he's talking about. The tournament can be ran the way we'd like to run it, and if we want to do pools, we can bring pools. There was miscommunication from EGLMIKE (coughjtymecough) and the hosts of the tournament.

The guy who's running it is actually really cool, and definitely willing to do whatever he wants to make the tourney work. He's actually willing to pay me to go around with them to all the events to run smash. I may, that will be awesome.

Anywho, i talked to him and they will be there at 8 AM. Registration must be done by 12 (i haggled) because between 12-2 they want to make POOLS. 12 is definitely a reasonable time, so no jones. Teams will start at TWO, he wasn't sure how many people would be coming so he wasn't sure to do a teams tournament. I had to explain to him how the smash community works, and how people pay the day OF the tournament and not before. He's definitely understanding and said in the future he's going to open day-of invitation, but it's first come-first serve until the venue is full for smash (usually a 128 cap for now he said, until there's more demand and they'll upgrade venue size). Pre-registration online, however, will guarantee you a spot and you don't have to show up mad early.

He was estatic when he found out so many people would be coming for smash.

The venue is nice and there's plenty of room for smash. I say this tournament will be run well with the help of us actual smashers. The hosts of EGL understand that smashers know what is best for their own community, and want to allow us to have more say in what goes down than the likes of EGL.

I think they're awesome. Hope this clears stuff up for everyone. :)
