Just tried to check coaches to Grimsby and it's bloody useless.

There's none leaving from Congleton, One leaveing from Crewe which takes 10 hours and leave at 10am and the rest are from Manchester.

I found out I can get the train for around £20, I thinkl I'd rather do that.
Just bear in mind that if you go by train you'll have to get off at grimsby and get a bus from there to louth. A return costs about £6.

It's not hard to get from Grimsby Train station to the bus station (it's like a two-minute walk). If you happen to go the same day I do, I can probably try get the same time train as you so you don't get lost ;]

I'm planning to go over Friday though :/

That'd be great, or if someone could meet me at the train station if I head up on the Saturday.

Well considering it takes an hour to get from Grimsby to Louth and vice versa, someone would either have to go on the train the same time as you to meet up, or maybe one of Yeniths' friends could get you a lift (as they did for me last time ^^)

Im aware that EM ismainly about brawl but I do know there are some melee players about. There is a large uk tournament going on next saturday in bolton. This isnt to far away for you guys. If your into melee, wanting to learn, wanting to get some freeplay brawl in or just socialise with the community this is a must!

Ive also got this little advert to help lol;

WHY COME TO SHS1?

Ive compiled a list of the top ten reasons as to why you should make this the only summer event in your diaries;

1. FREE HOUSING FOR TWO NIGHTS

2. FREE VENUE

3. THE ONLY NATIONAL MELEE TOURNAMENT OF THE SUMMER

4. BBQ!!! £1 FOR ALL THE FOOD YOU CAN EAT

5. POTENTIALLY SWISS TOURNAMENT RULES. NO MORE POOLS. MORE TOURNAMENT GAMES AND MORE ACCURATE PLACINGS. THINK PREMIER LEAGUE OF UK MELEE.

6. VETERANS OF UK SMASH VS THE UK ALLSTARS. WHO WILL WIN THIS EPIC MATCH?!

7. POP UP PIRATES, SCRAMBLE, BUCKAROO, DOH NUTS AND OTHER AMAZING RETRO GAMES TO BE HAD!! (go well with drinking if your into that!)

8. LIBERAL HOUSE RULES. ENJOY YOURSELF AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE. THIS AIN'T A STUFFY CHURCH HALL OR COMMUNITY CENTRE!!!!!!!!

9. STARE IN DISBELIEF AS YOU ARE ENTERTAINED ON SATURDAY NIGHT WITH JOE, WILL AND MYSELF (MAYBE OTHERS) ON KARAOKE!!!

10. AND THE BEST FOR LAST. THE RETURN OF A UK MELEE LEGEND! START PLCING YOUR BETS (THIS WILL BLOW YOU AWAY)

If you are in it for the melee or simply to have a good time this tournament promises both in bucket loads!

:chuckle:

I'm with Calzorz... there isn't much point in going to a tournament just so you can do things that could do anyway and that have nothing to do with playing smash.
I doubt there would be enough Brawl friendlies there to warrant going.

You can play Brawl casuals for two whole nights o_O, bring a bunch of mates if you're worried about no one else to Brawl with.

you cearly dont understand lol. If you play melee for years you come up with crazy and fun ideas but you never get time at a regular tourney. Like North vs South, Crew battles, Swiss pools and low tiers. We finally have the time and luxury for picking out the best ideas over time and doing them, its what loving smash is all about... you cant love brawl then xD

Also TC is absolutely right, You have no idea how much time 48 hours is lol. You can brawl at your leisure and if theres enough brawl players, will would be more then happy to run a free, or payed entry event.

and theres a BBQ... i freaking BBQ... a £1 per person FREAKING BBQ!!!

Also there are other options for those who want to relax after the events and get to know their fellow smashers over something other then smash. Smash is amazing, but it can be very hard to get to know peeps whilst playing lol.

The bbq is always too good, and the SDB house tournaments are always amazing. I know a few people who would go even if they didn't play a single game of smash because they like the atmosphere.

Is it free because you purchase it or your parents?! £ is nothing for the socialising that is a bbq. Takes people away from smash, relaxes them and people get chatting more = awesome!

il stil stick to my opinion , we can have freindlys at our own home and invite freinds to come, we travel for tournaments and meet up with freinds not just to sit there for 48 hours while people have meele tournaments we enjoy being in them , if you want a big turnout you cannot make it meele only and have 1 pound bbq as a reason for us brawlers to come , if u decide to make it meele + brawl u wil get alot more coming and it could be a real big tournament

Calzorz- joe just posted saying that you could have a brawl tournament. Look at it this way. This tournament runs from friday to sunday in a very large house. There will be plenty of tvs and setups (including wiis + if you brought your own even more). As it is a house tournament there is no time constraint or financial issues. That way if you want a brawl tournament you can have it. You could run it alongside the melee tournament if you wished or after/before or on the fri evening.

You go to EM brawl events where theres around ten of u in a house. This is the same but with more people and the bonus of meeting new people ( you dont have to play the same game to like each other) as well as there being other social events like I posted in my colourful list. All we are really saying is that one of you just need to say "yeah ill run a brawl tournament" and its done. Let me know how many tvs you normally have a EM event and ill supply them.

Also, there would never be any reason why you would have to sit there for 48 hours and watch melee. We will dedicate setups to brawl over 48 hours. You can then decide to use them for a tournament if you want.

outdated comment dude =/, i clearly said we are happy to run a brawl event if theres enough entrants =/. I have no idea about the brawl scene, i have no idea how many brawlers are coming or will come. I'm more then happy for you to get brawlers there and have a brawl tourney. Its only not advertised as both because im a melee man and and wanted the focus to be on melee. I honestly feel that if you play brawl and not melee you are missing out big time. That is why im making an effort to allow you peeps to play brawl as an event and in the meantime you will inevitably see how good melee is lol, if you dont like it then play brawl still lol, no harm no foul.

I have also offered to train any brawler who wishes to play melee, for FREE.

EDIT: As Ed said, we really don't want people sitting playing melee for 48 hours, or games full stop lol. thats why were having the side things are provding alternate entertainment, normally over a few drinks >_0

pop up pirates + shot when you make it pop = awesome. Also, calzorz i think your taken this too seriously. We've said you can run a brawl tournament. It wouldnt be a side tournament as it would run alongside the melee tournament. We would post both results from btoh tournaments. What we are saying is that personally we dont want to run it, as in actually run the bracket etc, but that we will provide a venue, housing for two nights, tvs and setups to run a tournament. In allh onesty saying as this is a uk national event with housing for two nights this is a better propostion for a larger national brawl than any previous brawl tournament ive witnessed. Except the first brawl tournament i ran lol.

Which nights are the housing on? I get back from a week-long holiday with my friends the day before SHS1, and it's like a 3 hour commute. I'm going to be so **** tired by the end of it ;p.

If I bring a Wii, will you let me use the rig for Brawl+ for some of the event? =)

Also totally the wrong thread but I figure it's being talked about anyway.

Almas - housing is provided fri and sat night, does that help? also, me and joe were discussing tvs and setups last night and there should be plenty of tvs so itll be fine. Itll only be during singles that having all tvs will mattrer but even then we think we will have more than required :). So yeah there will be a lot of time for other games. Id like to give brawl+ as well.

So is anything happening this weekend at Willz place or not?
It's too near my holiday (Monday). So my parents would want me to get ready for my holiday rather than do a fest. I will most certainly do mini-fests and my rankings in August though (unless Yen wants to do it).

Im here, well if u class me as EM Brado lolol.

BTW Willz were training Kmac to take ur EM spot, his Wario is probz his best char tbh, and Yoshi lolol.
Maybe if you came up for Smashdays once in awhile then ur spot would be guranteed. TBH, EM elite: Calz, Trio3, Yeniths & Kmac. Leicester Elite: Willz BloodBowler, Calzum and Brado LMAO.

Your not EM learn to read a map.
The "EM Elite" match up with what you want to call the "Leicester Elite"

Ownage at melee- Yen......BloodBowler
Ownage at brawl- Calz.....Willz
Good at brawl- Trio......Brado
Comic Relief- Kmac.....Calzum
