I would give him much more credit for guessing Villager right than guessing Greninja right. Seriously, all he said was "pokemon from X and Y"

I do not care if it fits the category, what he said, was what he said.

I will say, some of what this new "leak" states does have a certain logic to it. Ike was recently shown, and if Chrom was to be shown at E3, both Ike and Marth are very likely in his trailer. Rainbow Road from 8 or even Wii isn't unheard of, especially since we saw one in the Rosalina trailer, so it's obviously being treated important. 4 newcomers does seem like a lot, but then again, Mewtwo is technically a vet (though I do expect him to get newcomer treatment) and it's E3, might as well blow your load a bit, especially since Vets can just be thrown on PotD's for the likes of Wario, Meta Knight, Ness, etc;.

The leaker's smart, he used a certain amount of logic and was vague enough to not be able to officially debunk it. Outside of E3 not confirming these 4, we have no proof he's lying right now. Of course I am NOT saying we should believe a text leak with zero credibility, but we should at least be mindful of it. Who knows, he could be legit and suddenly we have a new person to watch besides old Sal.

Or so we're told. I've said it a million times, one guy saying 'Hey, trust me.' and another guy saying 'Hey, trust him.' has me feelin' fishy about that. Still, we've argued it to death in the actual Sal Romano topic. Luckily, all the chips are gonna get thrown down here at E3 which, thank goodness, isn't far away.

Is it a world, or is it a stage? And if we're going as far back to the original DKC, why this? I understand not using another jungle, but why not K Rool's ship? Can anyone (perhaps our resident K Rool supporter) shed some light on this for me?

Only volcanic area I remember from Donkey Kong Country, at least the first three, is from Donkey Kong Country 2. I'm sure DKCR has a volcano area, too, but I can't for the life of me remember 'cause my experience there in limited.

Personally I think this leak needs more K. Rool. 2/3 of the "Big 3" are supported, and I'd be okay if that was all that existed in the end, but I've become a fan of K. Rool fan more and more as time has gone on. I will say Isaac being on the list is pretty cool though.

He's the Bowser of the DK series. =P I believe he was in Barrel Blast. He was also in Mario Sluggers.

Lol, that's why I kinda shifted focus to the Gematsu thread. I'm sure a lot of you are sick of talking about it, but I've been away for most of the discussion, so it's fresh for me. =P

I originally didn't like the idea of Pacman or Miis, but I've made my peace with it.

Ultimately, characters are included not purely for who they are in their respective franchises, but also because characters are a proxy or medium through which Sakurai and his design team can create interesting movesets and gameplay styles. I think the blank-slate nature of the 2 characters makes them very attractive to a video game designer because it allows him to be really creative, rather than just do what's obvious. Because ultimately, video games are a form of expression for the designer, and if he's not able to express his creativity or wild ideas, then he's just a mouse cursor that gets pushed around by the fan's desires.

Sure, there's pressure that comes from the heritage of various characters and franchises, and all of the character inclusion decisions are extremely multifaceted, but let's not forget that this game is produced by a human being with his own desires.

So if Sakurai decides that Pac-man and Miis offer something new to Smash Bros, I won't argue with him. When you shed all of the fanaticism that surrounds the prospects of various characters and franchises and look purely at the prospects of the gameplay that might stem from them, a lot of really popular characters just aren't very interesting for a game designer.

Which is ultimately why everyone's systems of reasoning for why characters "make sense or not" or "deserve a spot" or not really don't carry much weight in the grand scheme of things. Sakurai has shown time and time again that he is his own person, not just a representative of the players. Whether or not that's considered a good thing is up to the individual, but I have a lot of respect for him, knowing how difficult it is to try to create something from nothing.

Because he said 6 characters would be revealed instead of 3.

If he just said those 3 I would have believed him. But he got only 3, and one of them was a generic "Animal Crossing Guy" instead of "Villager".

Either he is really good at guessing, or he is getting incomplete/partially false information.

Or its Sakurai leaking out only partially true information

Chrom and Pac Man during the Nintendo Direct: Following from last year, feature a highly likely 1st party while showcasing a new 3rd party at the end.

Ridley during/after the QandA: Ridley is very over. Even looking back at the Melee reveal trailer, Ridley being shown fighting Samus got the best crowd reaction, only to not be in. I think he'd be the best to show the Media.

Mewtwo after the tournament: A competitve darling, its easily best to showcase his reemergence at the tournament.

Hmm, I feel like Ridley would be best off shown where the most attention is going to at the time. I could see why the media would be a good idea, but I feel like the Direct would be the best place because I would think that's where the most people would be paying attention. And I think Ridley is the most requested of the 4 listed here? I'm not too sure if him or Mewtwo is more requested. I think Mewtwo would be fitting at the tournament, but not for the reason others may think. There's a really well-known competitive player called Mew2King, and obviously, Mewtwo is his favorite character. So if he's one of the 16 players at the Invitational, I think showing off Mewtwo there would be pretty fitting. Chrom I could see in a trailer with Link/Marth/Ike, just because they're all swordsmen, but then I think that would be too predictable, but I wouldn't know how else to introduce him. And I know this is predictable also, but Pac-Man popping up in the middle of Mario/Sonic/Megaman fighting would be kinda cool, just because everyone knows those are like the "Big 4" of gaming.

To maybe debunk the new text leak, for the past year Nintendo has been releasing games on Fridays (which I love btw). And NEVER on a Monday. Why would Nintendo release Smash on a Monday?

Also, I find it so amusing the creator of the CSS leak is here discussing leaks with us now. It's awesome. Once again, incredible work on that CSS.

I think it'd be funny if Mario, Sonic, and Megaman were all fighting amongst themselves when one of them stops the fight and puts his hand up to his ear to hear a faint "wakka wakka" getting louder and louder, and then Pacman emerges, chomping to his heart's content. Cue the character title card. Then the wakka continues, but with music playing in rhythm to it. Pacman's music would be his wakka wakka sound turned into part of the drumbeat of a song.

... Gotta stop dreaming. =P

I don't even know much about the Gematsu leak. All I gather from it was that a guy predicted that last year WFT, Mac, Pac-Man, Villager, Megaman, and Mii would be shown at E3 right? And he said something really obscure on "Pokemon from X/Y." Oh, and those Chorus Men doofuses. But I see so many people taking it to be true solely because of the WFT statement right? Is that even the right way to go about it?

I just don't see why this Gematsu leak has been going on for like a year and people seem to make such a big fuss about it. Doesn't it even matter all that much in the end? Or is it just the fun of finding out whether the guy was legit or not? Or is it just knowing what the roster is going be so far ahead of time? I just can't believe a leak has been alive for so long.

I would love for Classic Arcade Pac-Man style to be used. It'd be weird. But so awesome for Old School arcaders like myself. I imagine, knowing Sakurai, he'll give Pac-Man his new design, and then an alt costume to be classic. Think Wire Frame Little Mac

Pac Man noises should be "Waka Waka Waka Waka"

More I think, the more hyped I am for Pac-Man in this game. At first I was like "Oh Sweet, one of the most popular games characters of all time!" Then I realized how perfect he fits in with the cast (Snake, however, definitely did not) and now I may force myself to main him.

If we were gonna have more villains, I'd take Medusa over Hades. We need more fems and she's been around longer.

Also, I agree on the Miis... sorta. I'd like ONE Mii, with moves from Wii Sports/Music/Party/Play, and said Mii could have varying looks like the Villager. However, I don't want to play as myself, because it does ruin the crossover appeal, and since I can't see them adding Miis but not letting you use your own, I'd rather they just give the spot to another character. That said, if we do end up able to play as our own Miis, I'll eagerly look forward to 4-player all-Reggie battles.

I have a feeling that if they are included in the game, after seeing them in action, you'll probably not hate them and might even rather like them. That is, if Sakurai does his job, which is to make every character as appealing as possible.
