Smash Apprentice
Personally I love the bikes. They don't guarantee victory, nor are they broken. The beautiful thing about Mario Kart is all the variables there are to take in, tracks, characters, items, etc.

Yes, at least that is what I saw in the gameplay footage.Don't the bikes get nerfed in MK8? I don't remember seeing any of the auto-wheelie speed boosts or inside drifting.
Wonderful 101 > Lack of depthI just, last night, made a list going through the games I've played and want for the system, for a friend who just got his, giving them extremely biased ratings out of 10, so hopefully it helps:
Great-
3D World - 10/10 (one of the best 3D platformers ever)
Sonic Lost Worlds - 7/10 (good once patched, still a bit slow though)
LEGO city undercover - 10/10 (great fun openworld experience with lots of content; a completionists wet dream)
Pikmin 3 - 9/10 (The best bits of 1&2 with decent controls finally, the DLC is great too)
Rayman Legends - 10/10 (multiplat, but Wii U is the best; has most of Origins on disk too)
NES Remix - 9/10 (fun and challenging, takes a little too long to unlock the remixes though)
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - 8/10 (Great challenging battles, but can get grindy and repetative)
Wii Fit U - 9/10 (Improvements all round, and the Fit Meter really helps keep track of your calories)
Windwaker HD - 10/10 (One of the best Zelda games, and the best vesion of it thanks to hero mode and streamlining)
Dragon Quest X - 10/10 (A japan only MMO with a basic, but really well balanced, battle system and great community)
Good-
Wii Party U - 7/10 (lots of fun modes, but only a few you'll play more than a handful of times)
Rabbids Party - 6/10 (The board game ties together some great mini-games; still not Mario Party though)
Wonderful 101 - 5/10 (Fiddly controls and a lack of depth, but it is fun, and interesting)
Nintendoland - 4/10 (It's a tech demo, but it's got some fun party games; won't hold your interest long)
Mario Bros U - 7/10 (Much better 4 player than Wii, but not as good single; hella tonnes of fun challenges though)
Luigi U - 8/10 (Fantastic single player, but glitchy multiplayer. Has issues, but some of the best designed 2D Mario levels ever)
LEGO Marvel Supeheroes - 7/10 (The gamepad makes 2 player less annoying, but it's a pretty standard LEGO game)
Game and Wario - 4/10 (some great mini-games, but no framework so you don't care to play them much)
Karaoke - 8/10 (it's just karaoke, but allowing international song purchases is great if you have foreign friends)
Bad -
Mario and Sonic Sochi - 3/10 (sloppy controls and less interesting features than the last two game; get them instead)
Pokémon Rumble U - 2/10 (repetative and bland, with nowhere to explore anymore. Not even as fun as last time)
Tank Tank Tank - 3/10 (is fun with friends for the first few times, but it quickly grows tiresome)
Zombi U - 1/10 (Great concept, cool ideas, but has around an hours worth of enjoyment untill you learn to break the game)
Upcoming Games I'm concidering getting - (excitment /10)
Mario Kart 8 - 7/10 (It's another Mario Kart, looks to be adding more than the last few, and I know it'll be really good, but I struggle to be excited for another iteration)
Super Smash Bros 4 - 10/10 (Smash is always great, and this has a great looking roster so far, and promises to be fast, fun and balanced)
DKC Tropical Freeze - 10/10 (Unbelievably cool looking level design and great controls fixing the only real problem with DKCR)
Sonic Boom - 7/10 (Like the direction, and the team behind it look great, but the redesigns are a bit odd)
X - 8/10 (Don't know much about it, but it looks beautiful and I want to know more about how it plays. I'm hoping the gamepad will allow more direct control, as otherwise the Xenoblade systeam was good as is)
Hyrule Warriors - 7/10 (Dynasty Warriors is always fun, but repetative, the Zelda franchise is kinda stuck in it's ways too... If the game takes the best of both worlds it could be absolutely fantastic)
Child of Light - 5/10 (Looks interesting, but don't know much about it)
Knite and the Fairy Lights - 7/10 (It looks beauitful and stylistic, I don't know if it'll be good though)
A Hat in Time - 10/10 (Everything I want from 3D platformers in a super creative design with a lot of love)
Soul Saga - 5/10 (A fairly generic looking turn based RPG, but I miss turn based RPGs)
Mighty No 9 - 9/10 (I love Megaman, and this is basically the spiritual successor; it looks great too)
Shantae: Half Genie Hero - 7/10 (Shantae games are fun, but short, I expect no difference here)
Churbles - 8/10 (Adorable looking RPG management game, looks charming and fun)
Lobodestroyo - 10/10 (See a Hat in Time)
Starwhal - 10/10 (Simple, addictive, competative and hilarious)
Wooden Sen'sey - 5/10 (Looks like it's going to be a good game)
No More Heroes 3 - 7/10 (It's in development, and the previous two were great, no info yet though)
Bayonetta 2 - 5/10 (Bayonetta was well made and fun, but uncomfortable with sexuality, I expect the same here)
Shovel Knight - 9/10 (A great looking retro styled indie title, but I'll be getting it on 3DS)
Yeah W101 have A LOT of option for a action game. You can do amazing things, but people need to learn how to play, is not Uncharted (Wohoo, bang bang, you are dead yay, I am the MAN).Wonderful 101 > Lack of depth
AHAHAHAHA! Good one.
And the bikes were never lame, they were always AWESOME! I'm sure they'll do something to balance them out with the karts, because on Mario Kart Wii I used both just fine, you're just a hater
Hope you don't mind I gave you a like for the Paper Rosalina avatar alone.Just got my Wii U. Loving it. Also loving Wonderful 101 and Super Mario 3D World.
Uncharted is a movie with some bad cover shooter sections, you only play it for the story.Yeah W101 have A LOT of option for a action game. You can do amazing things, but people need to learn how to play, is not Uncharted (Wohoo, bang bang, you are dead yay, I am the MAN).
Yeah, you always unlock something in all levels, new chars, new powers and stuff. I really recomend this game, the story also is really funny and the boss battles are TOP!!Uncharted is a movie with some bad cover shooter sections, you only play it for the story.
And maybe I'm wrong, I admit to not owning the game so my review is based on a few goes on it (I admited the reviews were biased), but if you're going to give an FFXIII answer that it gets good once you've played it for 10+ hours (which to be fair FFXIII didn't) then it's not helping your case. The depth may be there, but if it's buried too far down I have better things to be doing with my time... like playing Smash, or Puyo Pop, or Pokémon or any other game that doesn't hide it's depth even despite it's colorful exterior.
I may pick it up eventually, but I have four piles of games I still need to finish, stuff coming out, and a bunch of downloaded games yet, so it'll probably be when it gets super cheap...Yeah, you always unlock something in all levels, new chars, new powers and stuff. Let me ask, how you played Dragon Quest X?
Ironicallly, I also have a Vita collecting dust. lol... I'm banking on a bundle of some sort. This describes my situation pretty well. The Wii U's support right now is very comparable to the Vita's, and my Vita has been collecting dust for a year, so I'm not going to jump in with a new console so readily. I'm waiting to see if SSB4 interests me enough to invest in a new console. If it doesn't, I'll just buy the 3DS version and leave it at that. I've saved up a pocket fund for the system, though. I'm ready to pounce as soon as I'm sold on the game. I'll probably pick up DKCTF to go with it if/when that time comes, since after Brawl, DKCR was my favorite Wii game.
Impossible to beat Super Mario 3D World 100% too fast...impossible.i've had mine but it collects dust because i keep beating the games too fast and i'm too busy
Ugh, I beat the entire game as Toad, got all yellow flags and green stars and such, but I don't have the last 4 stamps because I would have to do every level again four times.Impossible to beat Super Mario 3D World 100% too fast...impossible.
Yeah, don´t forget there is a LOT of secret stages. I did everthing with luigi and now I am slowing playing all the levels on multiplayer or to relax. I gonna 100% this fantastic game!!!Ugh, I beat the entire game as Toad, got all yellow flags and green stars and such, but I don't have the last 4 stamps because I would have to do every level again four times.
Nope, no thanks SM3DW.
Remember there's the E shop and virtual console if there's any old school game you missed. It has access to the Wii's shop too so if you were one of the few people without a Wii there's that too.Mario 3D World is actually really easy. Me and my friend 99%'d it in about a week. All that's left to do is beat that last level. **** that level.
I just ordered a Wii U this morning, actually, along with Mario and Sonic at the Sochi Games and a pre-order of SSB4 and MK8 because yolo.
I really need some suggestions for another game, though. I did a quick skim through the current titles and nothing really caught my eye, that I'd really want to play.
I haven't seen many interesting eShop titles, but I need to look harder. And I had VC on my Wii so nothing new there.Remember there's the E shop and virtual console if there's any old school game you missed. What genre do you go for?
Yes you can, you just need to enter Wii Mode. There is a shortcut, you need to press a button when the Wii U boot up but I don´t remenber which button is XPI haven't seen many interesting eShop titles, but I need to look harder. And I had VC on my Wii so nothing new there.
Wait wait, it can access the Wii shop? I would love to download Majora's Mask.
It's pretty damn good yeah. I love the fast pace of the platforming, a nice change of pace compared to the slower platformers I usually play like Mario and Kirby. I really should get Rayman Legends too because of this. The bosses in TF are also really enjoyable and fun, a million times better than the original DKC bosses.I beated Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze on the weekend and man...This is the best 2D plataformer that I played on my entire life. I really recommend to everybody.
Yeah my opnion exactly, but I don´t think mario is slow. When you start running on the stages (2d game) is hard to stay in control. But I prefer DK to Mario. It's pretty damn good yeah. So, funny story. I went into Wii Mode and downloaded Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.Yes you can, you just need to enter Wii Mode. There is a shortcut, you need to press a button when the Wii U boot up but I don´t remenber which button is XP
Mario can get fast, but like you say it's hard to control, thus it's not the normal playstyle you'll be going for. TF is made to be quite fast paced, it's easier to control and the stages are made so that you can speed through them (and they're still pretty damn long.)Yeah my opnion exactly, but I don´t think mario is slow. The Bosses is WAY BETTER than DKC trilogy.
Try Rayman Legends before buying. I was burned, too many stages with touch control, few with normal gameplay. It is a shame.
