I plan on getting mine as late as humanly possible. I'm anticipating a price drop and I don't want to buy a system for only one game. I've done that one too many times already. lol

Yes, I've had mine since a couple of weeks after it's launch.

I got mine 5 days after launch, because I missed the initial batch that came to my store. Have been enjoying it most of the time, even in droughts, thanks to indie games and the rayman challenge app.

Don't have one and, frankly, SSB4 is going to have to REALLY impress me to convince me to get one.

You could probably just get Smash 4, Mario Kart, and SM3DW and that'd be good enough. The thing is less than $200 for the 8GB so you'd run up less than $400 when it's all said and done.

That depends how much he's willing to pay for Smash, and how adamantly opposed to MK he is. It'd run him a little over $200 just to have Smash.
Yeah. I mean I wouldn't mind getting MK, but games are so expensive these days. However, that 8 gb for 200 sounds good. You got yours on EBay, right? Could I just use external/flash memory or an SD card to make up for the lack of space?

I plan to wait for potential price drops and for some feedback about SSB4 to ensure it's not a buggy, unbalanced mess like Brawl was.

Also, hoping for a 1v1 online random game mode.

I got an 8 gig at launch and an external hard drive for extra memory. The External Harddrive I have can hold up to 90 games if I ever decided to download full retail games.

Yeah you can use an external flash drive or SD card. I actually have Sony's 16GB sdhc for my 3DS and it was only about $10 on amazon. And really you won't need much data if you're not downloading games on the eshop (which I don't recommend because they always cost more and are bound to hardware).

I don't remember Brawl being that buggy, but Wii U isn't getting a price drop this year and I don't think ebay is really going to go down too much further.

Got mine a while back, and it was certainly worth it. Hell, even just Pikmin 3 by itself was worth it, and I normally would never call a single game that good, but I would have gotten a Wii U solely for P3 in hindsight (and it was my first Pikmin game as well). Super Mario 3D World is the best Mario I've played since Sunshine, but then I missed out on the apparently amazing Galaxy games. Wind Waker HD was also good for me since I never played the original, and frankly I'm glad I skipped it the first time (Wind Waker is an amazing game, but I would have pulled my hair out without the HD exclusive swift sail). And for third party games, Rayman Legends is a definitive Wii U experience, despite being made multiplatform, it was originally designed and intended to be exclusive and this version is the best.

It's funny how vastly different opinions can be regarding a general subject, I thought Pikmin 3 was amazing and Tropical Freeze is one of the only games I'm looking forward to right now. But for me, Mario Kart is the boring game that I have no interest in whatsoever.
Hmmmmm i love MK but i hear what your saying...plus i knew they would bring bikes back......(-_-) im not sure if i will get it...might trade in MK7 for it if anything...ugh...bikes killed Mario ''Kart''

I haven't played MK except for the 64 version on the wii. I might get MK8 depending on the reviews and multiplayer.

Mario 3D world was great fun, but it was short and easy, which makes me sad :(

However, pikmin 3 was a console seller for me, pikmin is an amazing franchise! Still too easy of a game, but whatever.

I already have the Wii U but I bought it solely because I knew Smash was coming out for it lol. Not to say that I don't have a bunch of other games I'm going to play on it Wonderful 101, DKC TF, LoZ WW, Super Mario 3d World, Pikmen, and a bunch of other games. Hell come Friday I will own all that is listed there lol. So I'm pretty content with my purchase I love all of Nintendo's big guns so as long as they keep pumping out Mario, Metroid, Smash, DKC, and Zelda I'll probably always have a Nintendo system. Plus there's always a few gems that end on the Nintendo consoles as well such as The last Story, Xenoblade, No More Hero's, etc... so I'm sure it'll be the same for Wii U. I'm happy I bought it.

I have one, mainly for Smash and Mario Kart 8. But there are other games that I'm looking forward to.

Don't the bikes get nerfed in MK8? I don't remember seeing any of the auto-wheelie speed boosts or inside drifting.

I bought mine on Sunday.

I like Wind Waker HD a lot.

Mario 3D World needs more :warioc: though.

And less cats...

Cats are cool, but they're ****ing everywhere. It's the tanooki business all over again. I get it Miyamoto, there's a new power up. Quit rubbing it in my ****ing face every chance you get. It's really annoying.

But yeah, I'll be patiently awaiting Smash 4. I'll definitely be buying it launch night (along with the 3DS version.)

Yeah, bikes make everything better.

(On-topic): Besides 3D World and WW:HD, what other Wii U games are worth buying?

Anyone who doesn't have 3D World should buy it. Actually one of my favorite Nintendo titles of all time.

Anyway, Wonderful 101 is amazing, as well. Nintendo Land is fun if you have friends to play with (but I find the single player not too fun). Pikmin 3 everyone seems to be in love with but it's my first Pikmin game and it has me ready to pull my hair out and not even in a good way.
The new Wii Sports has online, which is very fun, golf is way too hard imo though. You play it with the gamepad on the ground and you look down at it and swing with the wiimote. Haaaard. 100 pin bowling is my **** tho.
I have NSMBU and NSLBU and tbh they're collecting dust, I can't bring myself to play them since I have 3D World. Even though I've finished it already... just isn't fun.

And if you haven't played Earthbound, get it. Fantastic game. Tank! Tank! Tank! is great too with friends imo.

So basically:
Super Mario 3D World
Wind Waker HD
Earthbound
Nintendo Land
Wonderful 101
Wii Sports Resort or w/e it's called
Tank! Tank! Tank!

That's my list.

Wonderful 101
Pikmin 3
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
Nintendo Land
Sonic Lost World
NSMBU/NSLU

Also...what's with the hate towards New Super Mario Bros. U? It's great!

This describes my situation pretty well. The Wii U's support right now is very comparable to the Vita's, and my Vita has been collecting dust for a year, so I'm not going to jump in with a new console so readily. I'm waiting to see if SSB4 interests me enough to invest in a new console. If it doesn't, I'll just buy the 3DS version and leave it at that. I've saved up a pocket fund for the system, though. I'm ready to pounce as soon as I'm sold on the game. I'll probably pick up DKCTF to go with it if/when that time comes, since after Brawl, DKCR was my favorite Wii game.

Because one New Super Mario Bros. was enough for me (and that was the original on the DS).

I literally couldn't get far in either the Wii version or U because it just feels like I'm playing the same exact thing, and I feel I have...better things to do with my time than play through those same environments all over again, I guess. I guess I'm just not really into 2D Mario platformers like I used to be.

I'm not one to ever complain about "more of the same", but this series makes it really hard not to.

Snatched mine a week or so after its launch, the deluxe set that is. Got about 10 or so games for it, the greatest so far being Pikmin 3. Next to the N64, it's my favorite console.

I just, last night, made a list going through the games I've played and want for the system, for a friend who just got his, giving them extremely biased ratings out of 10, so hopefully it helps:

Great-

3D World - 10/10 (one of the best 3D platformers ever)

Sonic Lost Worlds - 7/10 (good once patched, still a bit slow though)

LEGO city undercover - 10/10 (great fun openworld experience with lots of content; a completionists wet dream)

Pikmin 3 - 9/10 (The best bits of 1&2 with decent controls finally, the DLC is great too)

Rayman Legends - 10/10 (multiplat, but Wii U is the best; has most of Origins on disk too)

NES Remix - 9/10 (fun and challenging, takes a little too long to unlock the remixes though)

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - 8/10 (Great challenging battles, but can get grindy and repetative)

Wii Fit U - 9/10 (Improvements all round, and the Fit Meter really helps keep track of your calories)

Windwaker HD - 10/10 (One of the best Zelda games, and the best vesion of it thanks to hero mode and streamlining)

Dragon Quest X - 10/10 (A japan only MMO with a basic, but really well balanced, battle system and great community)

Good-

Wii Party U - 7/10 (lots of fun modes, but only a few you'll play more than a handful of times)

Rabbids Party - 6/10 (The board game ties together some great mini-games; still not Mario Party though)

Wonderful 101 - 5/10 (Fiddly controls and a lack of depth, but it is fun, and interesting)

Nintendoland - 4/10 (It's a tech demo, but it's got some fun party games; won't hold your interest long)

Mario Bros U - 7/10 (Much better 4 player than Wii, but not as good single; hella tonnes of fun challenges though)
Luigi U - 8/10 (Fantastic single player, but glitchy multiplayer. Has issues, but some of the best designed 2D Mario levels ever)

LEGO Marvel Supeheroes - 7/10 (The gamepad makes 2 player less annoying, but it's a pretty standard LEGO game)

Game and Wario - 4/10 (some great mini-games, but no framework so you don't care to play them much)

Karaoke - 8/10 (it's just karaoke, but allowing international song purchases is great if you have foreign friends)

Bad -

Mario and Sonic Sochi - 3/10 (sloppy controls and less interesting features than the last two game; get them instead)

Pokémon Rumble U - 2/10 (repetative and bland, with nowhere to explore anymore. Not even as fun as last time)

Tank Tank Tank - 3/10 (is fun with friends for the first few times, but it quickly grows tiresome)

Zombi U - 1/10 (Great concept, cool ideas, but has around an hours worth of enjoyment untill you learn to break the game)

Upcoming Games I'm concidering getting - (excitment /10)

Mario Kart 8 - 7/10 (It's another Mario Kart, looks to be adding more than the last few, and I know it'll be really good, but I struggle to be excited for another iteration)
Super Smash Bros 4 - 10/10 (Smash is always great, and this has a great looking roster so far, and promises to be fast, fun and balanced)
DKC Tropical Freeze - 10/10 (Unbelievably cool looking level design and great controls fixing the only real problem with DKCR)
Sonic Boom - 7/10 (Like the direction, and the team behind it look great, but the redesigns are a bit odd)
X - 8/10 (Don't know much about it, but it looks beautiful and I want to know more about how it plays. I'm hoping the gamepad will allow more direct control, as otherwise the Xenoblade systeam was good as is)
Hyrule Warriors - 7/10 (Dynasty Warriors is always fun, but repetative, the Zelda franchise is kinda stuck in it's ways too... If the game takes the best of both worlds it could be absolutely fantastic)
Child of Light - 5/10 (Looks interesting, but don't know much about it)
Knite and the Fairy Lights - 7/10 (It looks beauitful and stylistic, I don't know if it'll be good though)
A Hat in Time - 10/10 (Everything I want from 3D platformers in a super creative design with a lot of love)
Soul Saga - 5/10 (A fairly generic looking turn based RPG, but I miss turn based RPGs)
Mighty No 9 - 9/10 (I love Megaman, and this is basically the spiritual successor; it looks great too)
Shantae: Half Genie Hero - 7/10 (Shantae games are fun, but short, I expect no difference here)
Churbles - 8/10 (Adorable looking RPG management game, looks charming and fun)
Lobodestroyo - 10/10 (See a Hat in Time)
Starwhal - 10/10 (Simple, addictive, competative and hilarious)
Wooden Sen'sey - 5/10 (Looks like it's going to be a good game)
No More Heroes 3 - 7/10 (It's in development, and the previous two were great, no info yet though)
Bayonetta 2 - 5/10 (Bayonetta was well made and fun, but uncomfortable with sexuality, I expect the same here)

Shovel Knight - 9/10 (A great looking retro styled indie title, but I'll be getting it on 3DS)

He's not a hater, he is right. Bikes made carts virtually useless. With having the ability to boost on their own while simultaneously retaining the the abilities of a normal kart made them too good. Not to mention that they're kind of lame in my opinion.

They need to fix the bikes, otherwise I'm not even gonna touch that game.
