That pic raises a question: How would a crossbowman play compared to a gunner or archer?
Depends on what route you want to go. You could require reloads in exchange for power and speed. You could make the crossbow functionally identical to a gun. You could make the bolts unaffected by gravity, but still be slower than the average gun projectile. You could do something that most projectiles in the game don't, and let the character aim up and down (that doesn't have anything to do with crossbows themselves, but it would be a way to differentiate the character).

The one thing I'm fairly sure of is that it wouldn't be a charge move like most of Smash's bow attacks. It wouldn't make sense when you're pulling a trigger to fire.

-They are notoriously lax with their music.
-They are one of the oldest Japanese developers/publishers not yet represented in the game.
-They are adding a lot of their games to the switch and have supported the SNES when that was a thing.
This is how we get Rean Schwarzer. And as much as I want a Falcom rep, he is the exact kind of character that would tick off as many people as possible. I would prefer Estelle or Adol though, even if I would want a Falcom rep in general due to the music.

Man most of y'all are willing to close the door on a KT rep happening because the character most people saw likely from them doesn't appear to be all that likely now. If anything, it just makes it easier for me to believe Nintendo wants a Dynasty Warriors character for DLC.

Every time Dynasty Warriors gets brought up, it always gets downplayed by people who either think Hayabusa is likelier or think a game set in a historic timeline with characters portraying their real life counterparts isn't a true video game franchise. Even I thought Hayabusa would be likelier during the fist several months of DLC speculation, but then I thought about it a lot more and actually see Dynasty Warriors being a possibility as well. It's Koei-Tecmo's biggest series and the innovator of the Musou formula. These 2 things coupled with Zelda and Fire Emblem having Musou games and KT's other work with Nintendo IPs already give it enough weight to get added to Smash, and it amazes me how Dynasty Warriors still isn't being considered likely by the Smash community.

Sorry for changing the subject, but out of curiosity, have there been any new "leaks" or prominent rumors being discussed, or is the latest one still the (most likely) fake Arthur Morgan/Dante Leak?

I really hope you’re right about that. I love Dynasty Warriors and Lu Bu is one of my most wanted characters. I have nothing against Hyabusa but I’ve never really played Ninja Gaiden so I have no connection with him.

Indeed, Dynasty Warriors is underrated as heck. While I am upset at what appears to be Hayabusa's demise, at the least I hope that this makes people more open minded towards Dynasty Warriors since Koei Tecmo in general is still in the running.

Also when people bring up Estelle, for a brief second I think that they are talking about Estelle from Tales of Vesperia. I'm like why are you all discussing her and not Yuri?

I think they are referring to Estelle Bright from Trails when they mention Estelle. Although I would totally be down for side characters from Tales.

Ah yeah I am aware of that. It's just that I've been playing Tales of Vesperia recently so that's the first person that I think of in my head when I see that name.

Not Smash related, but Rie Sonomura Rie Sonomura found a possible leak suggesting something Monolith Soft related this year. We're not sure what exactly it is (though the "leaker" mentioned XCXDE is planned), but they're also claiming NSO is getting an update in early April, so it at least has a killswitch.

If it's fake leaks you want, then go see Blocked Content on YouTube; he talks about them ALL THE TIME.
I was just wondering if anything came up that was worth discussing. I know people were talking about Ryu Hyabusa possibly being deconfirmed due to an interview. Last time I checked this thread people were talking about the Dante/Arthur "leak", hence why I brought it up.

True. I feel Rean would be the ideal Falcom character to piss off Smash fans

He would only need to be a Fire Emblem character to generate maximum salt lol

On one hand, I definitely think it's not mentioned as often as it maybe should. It is worth noting that there are Warriors spinoffs for several IPs already in Smash, some of which are Nintendo-exclusive.

On the other, I'm not sure if I'm willing to call it a frontrunner or a dark horse. It's a series with a lot of pull among Koei IPs (more than DoA, at least), but we've also had other series tha got Nintendo support, as well as decently big and historical IPs, that didn't get a playable character.

So yeah, I'm kinda on the fence with that series.

I've seen people tossing out KT and third-parties in general, but I dunno. I feel like series and characters are just judged on their own merits, and aren't ordered in a list of who's viable. The "If we're getting (x), it must be (y)!" mindset would've tossed out Joker in favor of someone from Tales or Dragon Quest (Granted, we actually got the latter, but I doubt anyone thought Persona would come first), dismissed SNK and go for a Tekken rep instead (Which seems to be deconfirmed), and barely anyone would've expected an ARMS rep as our first Spirit promotion instead of a more popular and relevant character like Bandana Dee, Shantae, Geno, or Rex (Though we did sorta get the last one). Deciding KT or third-parties as a whole are done for just because of Hayabusa just seems really closed-minded.

And can we PLEASE refer to him as Hayabusa? We already HAVE Ryu From Streets(TM) in Smash and I’ll confuse them
I'm pretty sure he's just called "Hayabusa" in Dead or Alive 6's Character Select screen, so that's what I've been calling him. I'm not entirely sure because like, I RARELY play as any of the non-female DOA fighters

Well to be honest, While I have given thought to Ryu Hayabusa as playable, mostly I always thought he'd be a mii costume anyways (Though I'm not even sure if that will happen now)

I mean, this interview might not do him in, but Personally, it's not looking good

So if this is it, then I say sorry to the Hayabusa fans

Xenoblade X Definitive Edition or whatever they would call a Switch version... that's gotta be like... I'm not tryna sound like a smartalope but like, of COURSE they will, it's like the one Wii U Nintendo brand game that hasn't gotten either a port or a "might as well be a port" game.

I really want it because I never actually beat the Wii U original... I got stuck on what people here told me was the semi-final boss. Switch came out, Wii U got unplugged, life went on, Xenoblade 2 came and went, you know how it goes.

I'm going back and forth about whether or not we'll see one of the lesser talked about patterns/fan rules broken.

Capcom (Mega Man, Ryu, Ken), Konami (Snake, Richter, Simon), Square Enix (Cloud, Hero, Sephiroth), and Sega (Sonic, Bayonetta, Joker) have had three fighters. With two slots left, do we see any of them get a fourth?
