Bandana Dee and Sora are cool, and we still get Incineroar, so I'd say it's good.

Is it just me or are PT's lines cut off short in sound test? They sound really odd as they finish. AFAIK this is only for the Trainers but IDK why. It's gonna be hard to notice mid-match but in sound test, they just sound bizarre. I've not seen this mentioned anywhere so don't know whether it's just me or actually there

On the topic of music, can we get all of the trailer themes that aren't in the game?
These are according to SmashWiki. I didn't double check them myself so one or two of these could be a mistake.

OK, some of these, I get why they're not in the game: The Spirit, and The King of Fighters '94 Opening theme were meant for a specific scene and aren't really all that great on their own. Those Who Sow Darkness and The Spirit Dias are also both more ambient tracks made for cutscenes, so I'm not as irked about them either.

Most of the original tracks that only got in as remixes are just...strange omissions, with Counterattack being the criminal one IMO because the remix sucks. I'm not as mad at most of them since they are technically in the game, but I still feel like they should be in since they appeared in the trailer. And then there's Life Will Change, Overture, Adventure, and Drifting Soul, which are the most disappointing. Overture and Adventure especially since they'd far and away the best Dragon Quest songs in the game by a lot. Drifting Soul as well is just...so good. Y they no add it?

Pic of the Day:

There was a problem fetching the tweet

Today in 1994, "Mother 2: Giygas' Counterattack" (EarthBound) was released! Since the "Mother" series was not sold overseas at the time, there was not a number in the title. Mother 1 was called "EarthBound Beginnings" then. Ness is the main character of EarthBound, and Onett and Fourside are also related to the game.

Today in 1994, "MOTHER2 Gig's Counterattack" (EarthBound) is released !! Since "MOTHER" was not sold overseas at that time, there is no numbering in the title. Then, "1" is called "EarthBound Beginnings". Ness is the main character of "MOTHER2". Onet and Forside are also related to "MOTHER2".

I wonder how weird it is to see Earthbound get so much preferential treatment compared to the other titles in Japan. Since they got Mother 1 on time and Mother 3 doesn’t elude them, its gotta be strange for them to see the 2nd game get so much content.

I’ve mentioned it before, but the lack of Porky Means Business still irks me. I understand not getting him himself but hes got one banger of a track.

I am waiting for Kirby´s Factory Inspection to be on smash. I love that song. There are even some cool remixes for the song.

The trivia section at the bottom of this page here has all the music used in trailers for Mii costumes that aren't in the final game. Some of these like N.M.H. or Dragonborn would be epic in Smash so I wish it was more than just indie characters that came with music also the Counterattack remix is good

On topic of music:
Pursuit-Lying Coldly
and the sequel version
Pursuit-Wanting to find the Truth

Both from Edgeworth's game would be absolute banger.

Probably also a more jazzy remix of Maya's theme.

Steel Samurai too.

Not quite all of them, as some are from different series:
And just to put them in one place (assuming I haven't missed any), I'll list the ones in the Other section as well:
I haven't listened to them yet, but I think most if not all of them are going to be in the "why did you put them in the trailer, but not the game?" crowd for me like Life will Change.

On topic of music:
Please, allow me to give you some suggestions:
Pursuit - Lying Coldly
Confrontation Presto (Ace attorney investigations)
Godot´s theme The fragance of dark colored coffee
Prologue
Guilty Love (Klavier´s theme)
Speak up, pup! (Shi long Lang)
It´s Detective **** Gumshoe
Swimming, anyone (Damon Gant´s theme)

Kinda wish I could also add music from Ace Attorney investigations 2

On topic of music:
What I consider to be "the big five" when it comes to Ace Attorney music that absolutely should get in are:
  1. Phoenix Wright ~ Objection! 2001
  2. Pursuit ~ Cornered
  3. Steel Samurai Theme (Remix)
  4. Turnabout Sisters Ballad (Remix)
  5. Phoenix Wright ~ Objection! 2013
Objection 2001 and Cornered are staple tracks that are practically synonymous with Phoenix. With how frequently the Steel Samurai shows up throughout the franchise, his theme is also super prominent. It's very frequently the encore track they use to wrap up the AA orchestra concerts, so it's a favorite in that regard. Objection 2013 is a remix of the 2004 Objection theme and has essentially become Phoenix's theme in the newer games. Turnabout Sisters Ballad has the setback of being a much slower, lower-intensity song, but with it being more or less the theme of Maya and Mia, it's a central track to the original trilogy, and it can be made into a fitting Smash track in the hands of a great arranger (see ACE's remix of Beneath the Mask for an example).

A handful of other prominent tracks that I think would be great to include, but aren't on the same level as the big five (and now that I'm playing through Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, I can actually recommend tracks from that!):
Honestly I have a whole slew of other tracks that I'd want to include, but I don't want to go overboard and post like 50 suggestions lol. These games have so many good songs, it's hard to narrow things down

Man, it's such an amazing song. My favorite aspect is the transition. As in, the lack of a transition. It's so good. Any official remix would need to have a similarly jarring smash cut to do the song justice.

The transition is a great representation of the out of left field nature of his twist. Its definitely a top 3 Mother Song for me. Its crazy how many of Mothers tracks still stand the test of time. I don’t get why so many series Nintendo owns are missing big pieces of music.

Sidenote: Am I the only one annoyed by Stage Builder only letting you set one song per stage? I made a stage thats really popular with my friend group and it pains me to not be able to set some of the most bomb songs in the game on it.

IMO, Dynamax = Gigantamax < Mega Evolutions, and Regional Forms = Just giving old Pokémon new Evolutions.

I consider Dynamax and Gigantamax to be the same mechanic, and one that I'm not particularly fond of. I like that all Pokémon can use it, but it makes battles more stressful than they need to be since you spend the whole fight trying to remain prepared for the opponent's nuke button.

Mega Evolutions are better IMO since while it is a power boost, it's not quite the same as the nukes that Z-Moves and Dynamax/Gigantamax are.

I don't personally group regional variants and new evolutions with the other two things, but I like 'em both pretty equally: They can be a new progression of an existing Pokémon, a completely new take on one, or even both. Love 'em.
Here's the issue. I'm a Pokemon collector. I catch 'em all. I have a Living Pokedex.

Dynamax is the worst. It's literally nothing. Just Pokemon get big.

Mega Evolutions are next. They look rad as hell...but you can't collect them. Because they're tied to items you can't bank. So my awesome Mega Charizard X? Gone next game.

Then Regional Forms. Basically new Pokemon. Different looks/types/stats/moves from the original type. But despite all those differences, they share a Pokedex number. Which makes them a clerical annoyance. Either have to reorganize the entire Pokedex around them or keep them separate.

Gigantamax. Better than Dynamax, because it IS at least a unique form. And while temporary like Megas, unlike Megas, Gigantamax is a flag tied to the Pokemon, so it stays with it forever, even in the bank.

New Evolutions. Best of all worlds. Cool new forms. Permanent. Separate Pokemon with unique Pokedex number, so it just goes in it's proper slot. Perfect.

Might want to read through that one again before accusing people of poor reading comprehension. He didn't want to say the name because talking about Geno often opens a can of worms, but Geno was his prediction for FP11. He then defended that prediction by explaining why he didn't think Mii costumes deconfirmed, and later (sort of) elaborated on his process of elimination.
Hmmm, I went back through his post history just to be sure. By you saying he made the Geno prediction, I take it you're referring to this post?
Reading it again it seems like you may be right after all, but it's more that he was careful in his choice of words to try and distance himself from it by phrasing it in a way that gives him deniability. "It's an unexpected prediction" doesn't necessarily mean "I'm the one making this unexpected prediction". And in his next post he mentions that he "isn't really gunning for Geno", which helps frame things in that light a bit more. I thought it would be odd that he mentioned COVID being a factor if the character he was talking about was indeed Geno, though giving it further thought I'm guessing he was implying that a hypothetical Geno reveal would have perhaps taken place between Steve and Sephiroth?

Either way, there's a much better argument against Geno being CP11 than simply 'Mii Costumes Deconfirm', and Geno fans won't be happy hearing this, but a full-fledged playable Geno simply wouldn't be that radically different from the Mii Gunner in the first place. Geno primarily fights with guns in his body, he has his signature Geno Beam, Geno Whirl, etc., if you want to dig deeper you could also incorporate battle items like Rock Candies, Fright Bombs, maybe the Mushrooms you can buy in Monstro Town? But doesn't the Mii Gunner already have moves similar to most of those? What's left where you can switch things up and really differentiate Geno? A gimmick focused on timed hits? Not a very interesting concept and would probably make using him more annoying. Powering up with a Geno Boost recovery? Randomizing battle items?

People would complain about the implementation of Geno being very lazy and a "wasted slot" unless Sakurai radically deviated from the source material, which is something he does not want to do, and even then people would complain about Geno's portrayal being inaccurate and unfaithful. Disappointing fans and being unfaithful to the source material are two things Sakurai absolutely does not want to do. And I genuinely think that's the real reason we aren't likely to see Geno playable beyond a Mii costume. Not as a snub against his supporters, but simply because in this specific case, it really is the best way the character could be made playable in smash.

Oh, are we focusing on music that should be in Smash now? Like the superior Shooting Star arrangement?

A few more choice selects:

I find it weird the music selection for most 3D Zelda games is so lacking. OoT has a lot, even with some repeats but Twilight Princess and Wind Waker only have three, Skyward Sword only has two and it's two versions of the same song. All the 3D Zelda's have a treasure trove of options. That's not even touching on 2D games that are lacking like Link's Awakening, or even games like Minish Cap that just straight up have nothing.

Mario 64 is another iconic game yet all it has are two versions of Bob-Omb Battlefield and two versions of Slide. And in both those cases one of the versions is just a rip from the original. Where's Koopa's Road? Or the Bowser battle theme? I can also think of like twenty songs from Galaxy that should be in.

Even the so called best represented series have some really strange omissions.

My true dark horse picks are Pokemon anime openings. Hey if Advent Children can get music then other multimedia bits of other franchises should be allowed.

Odd he mentions Giygas when he isn't a spirit in the game at all. In fact all of Mother's main antagonists are not in the game: Giegue/Giygas, Porky

That's what we have now, but with more echoes, and the 2 worst characters replaced with much better characters. Who would be mad about that?

On the other hand, you made too many base game changes, which I think has better characters than the DLC does.
...this guy apparently.

What characters? His base list has everyone in the current base. It just adds Alph, Crash, Shadow, Bandana Dee.

Are there any modest QoL improvements you'd like to see in SSBU before the DLC wraps up?
-Make Hazardless versions of stages selectable from stage select the same way Omega and Battlefield versions are.
-Remember my last color selection for each character. Smash 3DS did this. No idea why Wii U and Ultimate don't.
-Boss Rush mode.

Honestly, I assume Giygas isn’t in the game because his Mother 2 form is too disturbing and his Mother 1 form isn’t nearly as well known. Though it would be really easy and Mewtwo fits Giegue like a glove.

Now that you mention it, it would have been a pretty smart idea to have it so any music playlists you create in the music section could be used on any stages you create. this could have given playlists more functionality/usage.
