The hate that the last fighter in general will get is going to be extreme. Honestly, if anyone remotely off-the-radar/“not hype enough” gets in as the final character, fandoms will start going after each other.

Even more on-the-radar/“worthy” characters will be hated on because other, large fandoms will start the argument that their character is “more worthy”. Or they’ll just start bickering about the genre of game the final character is from.

I have some optimism that Bandana Waddle Dee would be relatively well-received. He's been one of the longest-standing fan requests for a good while now and, with the exception of people who are frustrated he prevents another new series from getting in or he's not the Kirby character they wanted, he does relatively well whenever brought up here.

That being said, he would create controversy if he got in FP11 or as a bonus because anyone will create controversy if they get in as FP11 or a bonus.

He's been one of the longest-standing fan requests for a good while now and, with the exception of people who are frustrated he prevents another new series from getting in or he's not the Kirby character they wanted, he does relatively well whenever brought up here.

He'd be like Pyra at best: Plenty of moaning and groaning from outsiders who wanted characters not from Nintendo/platformers, but those that really wanted him, other Kirby fans, and Smash fans who focus on core fanbase requests will accept him well.

Tbf Shadow would be way more hype to play if he was given a unique moveset a la Legacy XP, since he has so much to work with his chaos abilities. If people are allowed to complain about Dark Samus of all characters, then Shadow should be just as justifiable if not more (due to overall relevancy and iconicness involved).

He isn't that much of a ''no-brainer'' choice as people think. There's also the fact many people (me included) don't really like the way Sonic is portrayed in Smash, having an overall uninteresting moveset. If Shadow was a cardboard clone, all it'd do would be to aggraviate the problem.

Idk man we've seen people get absolutely livid at the mere idea of Dragon Quest content completely ignoring how it's been a massive request in Japan for like 20 years despite Slime occasionally being brought up every now and then while still being successful in the West while characters like Lloyd will also get frowned upon despite being a long time Smash request. Hell, people wanted Tekken in Smash for a while with Kazuya being well received yet we still see people claim he's problematic for whatever reason

6 is the high end for costumes right? That probably means there will be one that isn't related to Namco then.

That's not 100% sure. In the first wave with Joker Sega got 6 mii costumes (2 from Sonic and 4 from Persona). I think Namco have way more than enough potential to have 6 mii costumes. Tekken alone could bring Yoshimitsu, King, Nina Williams, Paul, and probbaly others but I'm not the biggest Tekken fan. Let's say 3 or our mii are from Tekken, then we could add 2 from Tales of (Lloyd from Smash 4 and Yuri as a new mii), and the last one could be something else (could be Nightmare from Soul calibur, The prince from Katamari, Klonoa, Kosmos from Xenosaga, Six from Little nightmares, could even be a Donchan hat like Slime).

Thinking about it, there are circumstances around the 4 that might explain why they aren't there

-Shadow is a Spirit Board only Spirits, and while they can be featured in Spirit events (as Wario Man, who's Spirit board Exclusive, headlined an event), they may not be prioritized

-Tails is Summonable only, and apparently those aren't priortized

-Knuckles doesn't have Spirit Battle

-Eggman is WOL only Spirit, which have never been featured in Spirit events

Funny how it works like that.

Just went through a few Spirit Events, and it does NOT look like the first one usually happens. Shadow is the only one not on this spirit board event with no reason to be there

yeah, Alph I 100% agree with. It's insane since they made lots of new echoes for this game yet he remained an alt, even though he was considered for Sm4sh.
Also if they really wanted to go the lazy route, all they had to do was give him rock pikmin instead of purple.

I could definitely live with him being an echo if it was that or nothing, all I'm saying is he would be far better as a unique character since he has lots of potential to be fun to play.

Yeah, I can see the last fighter getting hate no matter who it is because they won't have the luxury of having empty slots after them and will probably have a stronger case of "stealing a spot"-accusations than other fighters.

Idk if anyone has posted this yet, but Vergeben has come out with a post-E3 update.

Regarding Smash stuff and why he was wrong: the old source that he cut ties with said it was Master Chief at E3, and he couldn't reach his main source in time so he didn't know who it was; the Champions lyrics were just him "having some fun" and wasn't a hint towards BOTW Champions in Smash.

Digging through Nintendo and Sakurai's decision with FP2 being picks that not a lot of people were expecting. There isn't a lot of leaks that are dependable (no surprise there) due to the surprise factor. Now, if we were think about characters that aren't under a lot of people's radar and doesn't have a lot thinking about smash bros. (Figure could be for any character. Base spirits still have a shot while event spirits are out. Online Events could be the one to shoot down chances of that character. AT characters aren't coming.)

Business on marketing is another to think about. So, who do you think is the pick? Again, we could be wrong, but another thing to keep FP2's conclusion off for a while.

Whoever the last character ends up being, it’s been great overall so I can’t really complain. I got K. Rool and Sephiroth so anything else is just a bonus.

This is a little off topic but is this site killing anyone else’s phone battery? When I’m on here, my phone drains about a percent every three seconds. Other sites like GameFAQs still work fine and I never used to have this problem here until recently. Im not sure whether I need to buy a new phone or if it’s just something with this site.
