Y'know, I kinda wonder how we're gonna look back on the last two fighters when all's said and done. Like, if we get, say, Reimu, I'm curious as to whether or not people will consider her an "expected" character or not. On one hand, she's been getting a ton of attention, but on the other hand she's usually shut down with Japan-exclusive/indie arguments. Or Adol; He's become decently well-known around here, but Falcom in general is kinda small and this thread is probably the most discussion it sees in the overall speculative scene. Heck, even Lloyd, what with the question of the Mii Costume.

It's gonna be interesting to look back on all this in a couple years.

It's very pointless IMO. If you're gonna leak something do it a month or 2 before, I don't want to know who is the next Smash character or which games will appear when I'm 1-2 days away from the announcement.

Not really? It gives you access to new moves rather than enhancing ones you already have.

I know, but I was adding the comparison to the comparison of “unless you count joker’s and seph’s comeback mechanic”, so it was never really meant to discredit either one as total rip-offs or something.

As far as transformation based characters, I always thought Terra having a Trance mechanic where she can change into her Esper state always had potential. Don't know in what form it would take (Pyra/Mythra shift, Sephiroth's One Winged Angel, Joker's Rebellion Gauge), but I think there's something there.

You'd think that being soo vocal and whatnot about outright leaking multiple titles would put a big target on your back, but Brush has been doing this for over a year now and he's fine, oddly.

I'd be pretty excited, providing that the game has a good roster, decent gameplay, good new tracks, and the like. Been 7 years since the last original home console main series MK title, so I'm certainly would like to scratch that itch.

We haven't heard from Nintendo EPD 9 since ARMS. I think we'll being seeing their next project at E3.

I've been playing MK8 since May 30th, 2014 so I'd be pretty darn happy.

A lot of it will come down to how those two are recieved gameplay-wise: would not have recieved as much attention as she actually did if she was not considered so overpowering as to be centralizing. That in itself seeped into even casual discourse: she like is one of the first things people talk about when it comes to respective Smash games due to their infamy. That's not the main aspect neccessarily, but in Bayo's case that was a factor partly since it amplified already-existing feelings. Such as the circumstances surrounding the Ballot and all.

Okay, was IIRC more disliked overall (especially at release when Corrin's counter was absurdly overtuned, and the character overall was considered really good which fanned the flames a bit further), especially since Corrin's inclusion fueled the "FE overrepresentation / anime swordsman" perception, but Bayo still recieved a lot of criticism in the years between her release and Ultimate's.

With these last two, while there is no Ballot the "pressure" of being one of the last two does mean that there'll likely be some salt involved. How they're recieved gameplay wise will affect things, whether they're considered fun or not, relatively overpowered / underpowered, etc.

I dunno, a bunch of Nintendo tracks seems cool, but it would feel weird seeing Marth riding a go-kart in Dreamland. I just need to see it for myself to fully feel it.

Possibly. I don't know if Sakurai would be working on such a game to begin with, but I bet he would add more of those if he did.

Maybe Deku Nuts from Zelda, causing racers to get dizzy and go in a straight line for a while.

That reminds me: It seems to be Mario Kart tradition to add Pink Gold Peach to the roster; I hope they keep that tradition for MK9, simply to see more funny reactions from Nathaniel Bandy. XD

Just to spice it up, and make it really fit a Digimon they could play into one of the things that helps define them - branching evolution.

Greymon, Tyrannomon, Growlmon - a Vaccine, a Data, and a Virus - all three are similar enough to each other to use basically the same moveset with different stat allocations, but collectively represent the Fire/Water/Grass equivalent within the Digimon.

OPTIONALLY: Have them tied to a gauge, and if you don't devolve to Agumon in time you learn the harsh truth of what happens when you neglect a V-Pet... well not quite, it won't actually take a stock, it will just degenerate you to the incredibly limited form that evolves into Agumon.

I was fairly neutral on Pink Gold Peach, but I won't be happy if they add another metal character. I really don't like Baby Rosalina, though. At this point, they are shilling Rosalina. But seriously, Mario Kart Tour characters need to be ported over to Mario Kart 9. I WANT MY KING BOB-OMB OUTSIDE OF A GACHA MOBILE GAME!!!

Mario Kart Tour, for all its faults, did set a high standard in terms of roster additions. Obviously I don't expect every single character from there to make it in, (especially not the million recolors and holiday alts), but the basics like Pauline, King Bob-omb, Nabbit, Dixie Kong, Hammer Bro, Monty Mole, etc., should all be there along with the returning veterans that were cut in 8, like Diddy, Funky, Birdo, etc. If you can at least include those and add a few exciting newcomers, maybe K. Rool, E. Gadd, even a Wario character like Ashley or Captain Syrup, or a Subcon character like Wart, along with some possible more crossover characters like Kirby, Zelda, or Captain Falcon, I'm sold.

A lot of my excitement hinges on how much Mario Kart 9 attempts to actually improve the roster and build on from Tour rather than shrugging its shoulders and giving up like 8's roster did.

I'd love for the next Mario Kart to take elements from some of the other notable Nintendo racing games. They've borrowed elements from F-Zero already, so why not grab some things from other series they apparently have no interest in resurrecting so such interesting ideas don't go to waste? Let's see a City Trials mode from Kirby's Air Ride done MK style? How about an actual story/Adventure mode ala Diddy Kong Racing? Heck, get the track editor from Excitebike and see what people can do.

Its Mario Kart, why not go nuts?
