Official DLC Speculation Discussion Volume II

So for the sake of fun, let’s say that it’s announced that there’ll be an Echo Fighter Pass after FP2 comes to a close with four characters. Who would you want to see? My choices would be:

1. Funky Kong - faster and more mobile than DK with less power. His up special takes him higher and has an animation of him spinning around on his surfboard with a water effect. His final smash is a re-skin of Pit’s or the Dragoon’s where he gets into his plane and then rams into the players
2. Jeanne - basically the same as Bayonetta with Madame Styx instead of Madame Butterfly and Moth Within instead of Bat Within however her dodges are a lot more precise to land like in the game. Maybe change her final smash to a torture move as well.
3. Zack Fair - basically just a re-skin of Cloud like how Daisy was with Peach.
4. Liquid - my favorite idea for an Echo Fighter! He sacrifices Snake’s mobility and stealth for brute strength, so for instance he can’t hold the grenade but it does more damage, he can’t aim the rocket but it does more damage, he can’t detonate the mine but it does more damage, etc. His final smash is the same but has him get into REX. A lot of his animations would probably be changed as well. And for all of the echo fighters, they would have new voice lines, taunts, victory animations and classic modes.

Here's mine.
Rillaboom - DK's echo fighter. They both have the same height and build. Slightly not as strong as DK, but has a better recovery. Leaf Tornado can shoot straight up and can't move until in free fall. Down Special summons his drums and uses Drum Beating. It's similar with DK's down B how the arms rhythm. Final Smash is G-Max Drum Solo.

Gooigi - Doesn't skids like Luigi but lighter than Luigi. Up special can move by stretching his upper body.

Blaze the Cat or Metal Sonic - Either one of these 2 are fine. Blaze is not as fast but powerful than Sonic with fire attributes. And Metal Sonic can hover when moving/running. Blaze's final smash is Burning Blaze similiar to Super Sonic but at the end, she makes a huge fiery explosion. And Metal Sonic's is using different final smashes from different fighters except ones that have cinematics.

Octoling - Same moveset and properties except for 3 things. Side special is the Octobrush that is faster and costs less ink but doesn't bury opponents. Down special is the Curling bomb that moves vertically and it'll explode when either someone makes contact or timer runs out. Final Smash is the Sting Ray that can move freely and can be expand but the Octoling can't move while firing it.

I will say that if they ever do add Team Rocket, they'd better have one of their taunts be their motto, complete with changing the music. Bonus points if they use all of the mottos from throughout the show's run (I believe there are three of them since Diamond & Pearl and Black & White changed it up).

Extra bonus points if they slightly changed the intro to the later mottos against certain opponents, but that's getting into unnecessary territory. Still though, some variations like this:

"Listen, is that a voice I hear?"
"When they never speak it's really unclear."

Would be gold.

"Finally, I can imagine that you get asked this a lot, but... Ryu Hayabusa is a truly iconic character and because of this there's many people who believe he should be added to Super Smash Bros Ultimate as a fighter. We know it's hard, but would you like for him to join the roster? We would love to see it!"

The truth is that there's no current plans for his inclusion, but we'd love to consider it if we get offered a spot!

Sure, there's a potential universe where he's lying or otherwise being coy about things... but man. This is the 4th interview, and at this point, either he's playing a consistent theme, or he's being honest about Ryu not being in. Occam's Razor leads me to believe that it's the latter, since he would not have a lot of reasons to play coy for multiple interviews. Not when he's this straightforward.

Damn - while I wasn't a huge fan of the character, Ryu would've been a really fun character to play as potentially.

I'd like to see Crash and a Capcom character (Dante would be ideal, though there are a bunch of different directions that they could go with Capcom - Phoenix Wright, Amaterasu, Morrigan...), though I'm expecting that we're going to get a character that's popular in the west at E3/the June Direct (Crash? Master Chief? Maybe a Bandai-Namco character?), and a Nintendo character to finish the pass off.

Maybe Cinderace? I'm not sure; there haven't been a ton of major Nintendo releases lately, and I figure that they'd be trying to promote something. Dixie Kong or Bandanna Dee would be great, but I don't know how likely they'd be. A Zelda character would be great as well, but all of the major ones seem to have been ruled out. (at least if post-launch spirits mean that they don't intend to add those characters as playable)

What does Master Chief have to do with this? It's what I still expect alongside Toxtricity. Ever since Doom Slayer I found interviews pointless. That's just me, I'm not gonna force people to discuss Hayabusa just because I still think he's happening.

wasn't it the opposite situation? Suda51 was being incredibly coy and corporate, so we knew something was up (many just incorrectly assumed it must be at the character scale). This guy's interviews are closer to the original Suda interviews, gushing about how much he'd love it.

After reading the interview, yeah... Unless Yasuda is lying, which I personally doubt, this definitely feels like a disconfirmation.
And I thought the first interview people brought up wasn't a problem, but this one... Now I can't see Hayabusa being one of the two remaining fighters.

Yasuda could be trolling us hard but I don't think that's the case.

Believing these sorts of statements to be the truth and being wrong a small fraction of the time still makes more sense to me than ignoring them on the basis of presumed NDAs, which is a much bigger leap considering how few characters do actually, ultimately, get in.

If Hayabusa does get in, then this will have been the most overtly deceptive series of interviews about his status, so quite frankly I don't blame anyone who views him as deconfirmed at this point.

As far as who's left, I'm more leaning towards a fighter from Sega and a wild card that's either someone from a Japanese third party already in Smash (Konami, Capcom, Namco, Square). or a Gen 8 Pokémon; with a slightly slimmer chance of Crash or Dovahkiin the latter spot.

If I'VE never heard of them, then they definitely don't belong in Smash.

Definitely sucks for those who wanted Hayabusa. I didn't care for him any but it's always better to have that bandaid ripped off rather than getting gut punched last second.

Also, since the dev also said they didn't get an invite yet, it unfortunately also deconfirms all other Koei Tecmo reps, such Kasumi or Dynasty Warriors. Would have been interested in Kasumi, to be honest.

But still, don't completely despair, Ryu and Koei Tecmo fans! We could still get a Ninja Gaiden spirit event and/or Mii costume, so there's at least something to salvage, there.

I wasn't predicting Ryu per se, just another third party before the final first party character (still think that's gonna be Euden if we STILL don't have Dragalia Lost content by then, I don't care if Europe doesn't know about him). To me, this only slightly lessens the pool of options. Keyword: SLIGHTLY.
