Holy crap. Calculus when you were 15?! I'm 15 now and I'm taking Pre Cal, which I thought was really advanced O_O.
Pre Calc is still really advanced for your age; most high schoolers never even get to it. Calculus was the highest math my school offered, so I started taking all of my classes at the local college the next year.

He's probably Asian.
Italian

Praxis is probably the whitest guy I ever met.
Funny; I would describe you the same way.

ITT we discuss that which computing technology can do for us as if it's impressive that young people can memorize algorithms

The day I got a 5 on the AP Calc BC exam was one of the happiest days of my life. I knew from then on math would be relegated to its proper place in my life; in the hands of the infinitely more capable computer.

Probs won't ever have to take math again in my life or do tedious math by hand ever again.

Pity you failed to grasp the true reason you learn math; it's the concepts.

Yes, you'll never need to figure out square roots by hand or do 90% of the work you did again (especially those darned proofs). But many fields require you to understand the concepts. You can't just enter these problems in a computer and get an answer; oftentimes, you need to understand what to direct the computer to do to solve it.

You'll need the conceptual knowledge for any kind of engineering or computer programming work.

More importantly, it changes how you perceive the world, even if you don't use the math in your work. It gives you understanding of concepts such as rates, surface area, volume, change...you won't even look at a draining funnel the same way. Those concepts will stick with you forever and many of them can help you in almost any job you go in to, even though you don't realize you understand a lot of concepts because of math.

The further you go in math, the more eye-opening concepts you learn. That's why Calculus was my favorite math (I detested Pre-Calc). Pre-Calc was like...the epitome of routine memorization and utilizing everything you had prior learned. Calculus had so many new concepts and ways of looking at things, and was fantastic.

Answerin' some Q's:

1. You can win MVP if your faction lost sometimes. Usually, however, it's gonna be going to the MVP of the winning faction, for obvious reasons.

2. There is usually one MVP per game. Like, 95% of the time. There will be occasional exceptions.

3. Adventure Games have MVPs as well and it counts toward your dice.

4. With hydra MVPs both players will receive dice.

5. Winning a mafia game as scum can get you an MVP. Dunno why it wouldn't.

6. Seriously how does bunglefever have an MVP XD

7. Games played in other areas (LoD, the BRoom, BBR) don't count toward dice. The reason being that this is supposed to entice people to play Decisive Games and stuff.

8. Alright Praxis is definitely asian

it should go to both, think of dr. riddler, they may want the rep on thier hydra account, which is commonly used

Is there even an equation used to figure out square roots
I've been told that there's a way to do it, but never learned it.

I never even memorized my times tables. I just do it in my head really fast. It's easier when you learn concepts as opposed to memorization.

Know the nearest perfect squares and figure out exactly where in between them the rooted number would fall. Works well enough so long as you don't need super exact numbers, which is why you use a calculator.

I second the calculator cause when I do it by hand I always have a tendency to make tiny mistakes that throws me off.

TBH, I much prefer dealing with math conceptually because it means that I'm dealing with the just the concepts (which I pick up amazingly well) as opposed to doing the mechanics (which I suck at).

Funny; I would describe you the same way.
Cept I just look white I don't act white.

I'm gonna be MVP in one game and purposely undermine myself in all the others, just so I can keep those sexy red dice. :D

Dice bling is ****in' balla

Hall of Fame thread would be equally balla

@ Praxis: Trust me man I appreciate math concepts as much as the next guy. It's pretty much the only reason I stuck with calc BC and actually did well on the exam. Problem is, the way we teach math here in the U.S. is so muddled up with testing ****ing obscure memorization and related bull**** that half the class isn't even about the concepts, just what you can rote memorize and do fast.

I loved questions that dealt with interpreting graphs of derivatives and integrals, setting up related rates, and **** like that. I ****ing hated with the white hot burning passion of a thousand suns the non-calculator type questions that forced you to memorize trig derivatives or other special derivatives that you just have to have memorized in order to do them quick enough to finish the exam. They're ****ing bull**** because they don't test your understanding of the concepts at all, they just test to see if you ****ing sat there for 40 minutes memorizing a sheet of paper with a bunch of derivatives of trig functions and logs and **** like that. What's the point when I can just have a calc do all that work for me? There is absolutely no benefit to memorizing that stuff.

That's what disillusioned me regarding math and is why I ultimately decided not to major in anything that could possibly require advanced math classes. Didn't want to deal with the stupid rote memorization bull****.

That's a pity, frozenflame, because I found that once you hit calculus, the dumb "I can do this in my sleep" exercises become a LOT less frequent.
