Midnight shift starts at 11 PM. It takes me an half an hour/1 hour to get there on time. Thus I have to leave out at 10 PM.

Chibo, how long would the marathon mafia it go for? If you are starting in 30 minutes (like I think) I could definitely play for the next 2 hours from that point (if this is still on, of course)

Meta-Kirby, your part was awesome, I was very surprised by your elimination :/
Thanks vanderzant =)
I'm a little surprised, but I suppose it's for the best. I'm more bummed than angry, though, I had so much planned out.
Thank you guys for the support. I wish I could've played more, and I can safely say I'm very disappointed by my death. :(

Besides, without me in the game, the characters are just going to have to wait another 2-3 weeks before Namaste posts his second entry

That was the hardest writing I've ever done, for literally every reason that writing can be hard -- both related to the writing itself and then external factors that influence the writing experience.

Running on fumes doesn't even begin to explain how I feel right now.

PNS readers - I put chapter breaks in this one. Make use of them if you're not the time to read a lot in one sitting. Trust me.

V/LA until Monday. I'm going to a diving meet that's about....2.5-3 hours away with no internet access.

PikMafia: Xiivi will be temporary moderator.

Everyone else, have fun =)

Rogue Serial Killer Mafia Set-up (8 Player)

From my short experiences of playing IRC mafia, one of my favourite roles was always the 'Rogue'; in which you Stalk a player during the night, and if that player kills you you can resurrect the following day. The following set up (imo) allows good players to make themselves "Night Kill targets," as well as give them a chance to dramatically influence Town if they can pick the Wolf/Mafia successfully and early enough. Scum will likely be inclined to target the "clueless" players at night, as stalking is practically game over for them.

As "game breaking" as a successful stalk may sound, in reality I don't believe it would be that likely to occur (if at all). Either way, the Night actions for both Town and Scum are of high importance, as is scum hunting for all parties (to help determine the best action).

Rogue Serial Killer Mafia Set-up (8 Player)
1 Mafia Goon
1 Werewolf
6 Town Rogues

The set up is for eight players. Each Day phase, players vote to lynch someone. Each night, Scum targets a player for a night kill. Similarly, each Night the Rogues choose a player to stalk. If the stalked player targets the rogue with a lethal action, the rogue will instead have his identity revealed by the moderator the next day.

Gameplay Notes:
- Killing roles are not allowed to idle
- Once a rogue has successfully stalked, they lose this power for the remainder of the game.
- Scum endgames Town if only 1 Town player remains.
- If a 1 Mafia : 1 Wolf : 1 Town situation arises after a Night Phase, the Wolf wins
- If the Werewolf and Mafia target each other, the Mafia wins
- If the Werewolf and Mafia target the same Rogue, the Werewolf kills the Rogue, and Mafia's action will not activate the Rogue's power (if applicable).
-Interestingly, in a 2 Town 1 Mafia 1 Wolf situation at a Night Phase, each faction still has a good chance of winning:

1. Town can win as long as they stalk correctly or are not targeted for a kill (probably the lowest chance of winning, but if Town are in this situation, they made 1 mislynch and no stalks, with no cross fire)
2. Wolf can win if the Wolf/Mafia target each other, providing Town mislynches the next Day
3. Wolf wins if the Wolf/Mafia target the Same Rogues
4. Wolf wins if they target the Mafia, and the Mafia targets a Rogue (no stalk)
5. Mafia wins if the Wolf/Mafia target different Rogues
6. Mafia wins if they target the Wolf, and the Wolf targets a Rogue (no stalk)

Probability Notes:
-Town potentially only has 1-2 mislynches, depending on Night actions.

[collapse=A few example scenarios]
Mafia Best Case Scenario (2 Mislynches)
6 : 1 : 1 (Start)
5 : 1 : 1 (Day 1)
3 : 1 : 1 (Night 1)
2 : 1 : 1 (Day 2)
0 : 1 : 1 (Night 2)
Mafia Wins!

Wolf Best Case Scenario
6 : 1 : 1 (Start)
5 : 1 : 1 (Day 1)
3 : 1 : 1 (Night 1)
2 : 1 : 1 (Day 2)
1 : 1 : 1 (Night 2)
Mafia/Wolf Wins!

Town Best Case Scenario (no Stalk)
6 : 1 : 1 (Start)
6 : 1 : 0 (Day 1)
5 : 1 : 0 (Night 1)
5 : 0 : 0 (Day 2)
Town Wins!

Town Win Scenario (Day 1 Mislynch)
6 : 1 : 1 (Start)
5 : 1 : 1 (Day 1)
3 : 1 : 1 (Night 1)
3 : 1 : 0 (Day 2)
2 : 1 : 0 (Night 2)
2 : 0 : 0 (Day 3)
Town Wins!

Scum Win Scenario (Night 1 Crossfire)
6 : 1 : 1 (Start)
5 : 1 : 1 (Day 1)
5 : 1 : 0 (Night 1)
4 : 1 : 0 (Day 2)
3 : 1 : 0 (Night 2)
2 : 1 : 0 (Day 3)
1 : 1 : 0 (Night 3)
Mafia/Wolf Wins!
[/collapse]

By any means, I'm not sure how swingy it would be. If it's too town favoured, I could probably decrease the number of rogues, but the chance of a 2 Day phase game seems like it would be not that necessary.

All critique is greatly welcomed/appreciated :)

@Chibo I was actually planning on posting about a marathon today, then saw you had mentioned it. Marshy's PM, made me want to do one since it was summer and all. Greater availability and the such.

vanderzant, collaboration with the writers is one thing, but I think asking the readers what they want goes against the spirit of the game as pertains to a writing contest. It's about your writing, not what they'd be writing, after all.

EDIT : I was half kidding and I don't really know what to say about PNS social possibilities heh

Bad Idea Mafia Redux setup is nearing completion and its bigger, badder, and more ****** than any BIM you've ever seen.

Get. Hyped.

Gonna do some consulting just to get second opinions on the balance and some of the new fun and interesting ideas I plan to implement. Invites for the game should be going out soon after, provided I get like private game approval or whatever. Off to message marshy about that. XP
