Hmm, I guess it applies to both 4 and 6. Interesting.

And yeah, it's the first game.

I'm not going to extend their lead any farther.

It looks like I have a bit of catching up to do.

On a completely unrelated note, would anyone be interested in a new Diplomacy game? I think it'd be... interesting.

I want to know something:

How do I link to specific posts? Just one post at a time? I've always was confused on how other people figured that out.

I also want to challenge claiming. To be honest, after thinking it through, I'm not sure if we'll get much benefits from it. I'll try to explain:

Basically, if you're Mafia or a Vinalla Townie, honestly claiming isn't going to help you much. Sure you could lie that you had a Townie Power Role, but if you're Mafia, that would require sacerficing your scum buddy and it won't work if you're the last one left. If you're a Vinalla Townie, let's say you claim cop. You say your top suspect is guilty. People believe you but your top suspect flips town. Then you're in serious danger of being lynched and will most likely be so anyway since Lynch All Lairs is a efficent policy.

But what about if you do have a Townie Power Role and you claim honestly? Will it save you from a lynch? Yes it will. However, this leaves you at a increase risk of a night kill because scum knows they hit a power role. Basically, with a Townie Powe Role, it's a double edge:

1. Lie about your claim and get lynched.
2. Claim honestly, save yourself a lynch but have a increased risk of a Night Kill.

Here's a example. SwordsRbroken claimed cop in The Muppet Mafia on Day 2 when he was at risk of facing the chopping blocks (They're playing a Kingmaker-like set-up, where a person decides the lynch). Xonar got lynched instead and fliped scum. However, SwordsRbroken was killed on Night 2 and was revealed as a Townie Cop.

The only way I can see claiming being really efficent is if you were to do this to further push a lynch on a person. I could claim cop on someone telling the person he was guilty. If he was at like L-1, he would most likely get lynched. However, even this comes with risks. The 2nd secnario I mentioned can apply here.

It seems like this. Don't claim or get lynched or claim but risk getting killed in the same Night.

Therefore, I challenge someone to prove me that claiming can be beneficial and it isn't a most likely path toward death in every Mafia game.

press quote, then copypaste that message with the tags to notepad.

or that, depending if you mean multiquote (with the link in it) or just linking.

Doctor.
and
If you're going to get lynched anyways it's better to have scum 'waste' a night kill.
1. Why a Doctor role? It is still a important role. If a Doctor gets lynched/nightkilled, we lose a powerful role anyway.

2. Why is it better for scum to waste a nght kill on a power role? Power roles lost are still worse then Vinalla Townie roles lost. Scums are most likely not dumb enough to believe that someone who claims a power role is innocent.

Also, the easiest way to ISO someone is to click on the number of replies to a thread in the Decisive Games main forum, then click on the number of the person's replies that you are ISOing. Clicking on that person's actual name will go to their profile.

SSBF, if someone claims doctor, the general response is to leave him alive. If town lynched him (which is presumably what would happen if he hadn't claimed), then scum will Night Kill someone else. That gives scum direct control over who dies rather than town.

Claiming is pretty situational. If you are actually a PR and get a couple results, it won't hurt to much to claim or breadcrumb. If you aren't a doc, then you might get his protection. Umm If you are mafia, you could get in a counter claim battle and get the real one killed (or leave them there for ever lasting WIFOM)....

There are so many possibilities for claiming.... we could sit here all day and talk about it. I'm just pretty lazy and don't feel like typing more. It just all boils down to WIFOM.

EDIT: ISO has to be the worst acronym ever...who started it...I want to kill them...

No no no.

If you claim, a doc can still save you.
If you're going to die, you can better not make the town waste a lynch, this way the scum has to outguess the doc and MIGHT kill you. I know what I'd choose.

Breadcrumbing doesn't reward town directly, it rewards those that are paying attention, whether they are scum or town. In such a situation, I've always felt it's best to just come forward. No secrets, especially if you already have a couple of results. After all, cops usually investigate the scummiest players, not those that are playing well. Kill those that are left over.
