Like I said, I would offer but I'm not nearby in the slightest. Plus on another thought I'll be away for a week after Wednesday, so I couldn't really help out much. Forget I said anything.

if anyone is feeling kind to house me temporarily i would most appreciate it.
Soup I have no idea where you are but if you have a way of getting close to lexington or roanoke here in Virginia you can literally crash here until the end of August. I have a 2 bedroom apartment with no roomate for the summer. Dont know how realistic that is for ya but lettin you know thats an option. Hope you can work something out either way!

It's $356 for a ticket from [GRR] Gerald R. Ford International Airport (Cascade Township) to [ROA] Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport aka Woodrum Field according to the following search.

Soup if possible I think it would be best if you went into as much detail about your situation as possible. Is your relationship with your family so inconsolable that you really can't move back in with them? Where are you now? What are your plans? I think we could help you best if we knew more about your situation. If you don't feel comfortable talking about it here you can PM someone about it (Acrostic would be good).

PM me too actually I want to know what's happening with you and your family. At the moment I'm kinda not liking your family from the impression I got from before but maybe i'm wrong and all. Anyways I'll do my best to support you from the sidelines as I'm (again) not the best for hosting. Maybe in the future when I MAYBE get a house but... yeah. That's actually delayed cuz [reasons].

Even if it is a flying castle, I don't think I could handle the extreme lack of air conditioning.

Good to hear you've got atleast something for the immediate future. Keep that head up and keep movin forward one step at a time.

And trust me, if you did need to come down here it wouldn't be a burden at all. Like I said, I don't have a roommate until school starts up again, so you wouldn't be bothering anyone. If anything it would be nice to have some company, as Lexington is more or less a ghost town when school is out haha. So yeah real talk I hope things dont get so bad for ya that packing up and leaving town is your only option but def don't think you'd be a burden if it came to that

The giants in Nausica are also in Laputa?
Laputa Wiki said:
  • It is thought by some that the setting of "Castle in the Sky" is possibly the same setting as another of Miyazaki's movies, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, but in an earlier period of history.
  • Jamie Hewlett, the artist behind the band Gorillaz, said on a South Bank Show special about anime that he found inspiration from the film for the floating windmill island found in the two Gorillaz music videos "Feel Good inc" and "El Manana".
  • In the part where the robot comes back to Pazu and Sheeta, it shows four of the same animals that Nausicaa had befriended running & playing on the robot.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii and GameCube home video game consoles contains several elements inspired by Laputa, including a puzzle featuring two ancient robots covered in foliage, as well as the final level featuring a sky castle.
Only two of those are relevant to your question but the other two are just ****in awesome pieces of trivia lol

Tochlight is also great, and I've heard good things about limbo and Amnesia

Speaking of steam libraries, it is amazing how organizing your library helps on a psychological level

Can co- sign for Amnesia. That game is goddamn scary though. I've been playing it with 4 friends where we take turns, because all of us are too scared to play it solo. So we peer pressure our way through the game.

Only games I can offer commentary on are Torchlight, Limbo, and Psychonauts.

A lot of my friends played Torchlight and from what I've been told it's basically just a 100% single player Diablo rehash. So if you're into that sort of game, do that.

You said you didn't like Psychonauts so obv thats a no go.

Limbo is just another contemporary platformer game. I've only sat down an played it a few times but from what I've seen so far it's a pretty clever game with some fun challenges. If you liked Super Meat Boy this is probably the closest thing you have to that. Its also a really easy game to play for a bit at a time and take breaks from since its not story heavy or anything like that. Also, being a platformer, you kind of jump into the action right away so you don't have a prohibitive build up time before you can start having fun.

I finished watching someone else play through the game. The game is definitely a solid buy at $15 and I'd push the real price of the game to be around $30 to $45. I find that the soundtrack is incredibly solid with Metal Gleamed in the Twilight to be a culmination of two very distinct pieces with the introduction being reused as the conclusion of the song. I'd put it up there in terms of game scores with To Zanarkand.

Art direction is unique in the sense that it is unlikely that there will be another game to execute a similar visual style. Backgrounds remind me of Japanese/Korean watercolor interspersed with incredibly refined 'cut out' structures i.e. pillars and arches. Also, the foreground is a mixture of both watercolor and 'cut-out' elements which blend in beautifully making the game visually pleasing.

The gameplay is too short. I'm not necessarily talking about the length of the game, but the plot itself leaves itself open for further development.

For instance: [Plot Spoilers] Within Child of Light's story, I assumed that the Lady of The Forest would have a recurring role later in the plot. Having created Igniculus and give it to Aurora, I presumed she was someone who was light aligned. However, she also gave rings to Norah which also had no plot relevant purpose, but put her role in the story as being plot neutral.

Having her play a larger role or perhaps having given Norah an item that would have revealed her true nature would have resulted in the player being cognizant that placing trust in Norah throughout the two or three chapters was a mistake on their end rather than making it seem like a shock factor that had little to not foreshadowing.

Glossing over the Lady of the Forest, the characters themselves seem to lend themselves highly towards driving the story. However, not in the sense that the story is character driven, but in the sense that additional characters are used as the pretense to drive the story forward.

This is almost an inverse application of how Final Fantasy IX ran which was to introduce the majority of the cast in Disc I with two additions tossed in around Disc II allowing for the events of later chapters to express their latent personalities and show some level of character growth.

Notable transitions were Steiner who had to determine whether his loyalty to the Kingdom resided in the Queen or the Princess he was currently accompanying and which side to chose when he couldn't bring either party to come to a mutual agreement. Vivi who gradually gained bravery, had it stripped away, and then forged his own sense of identity afterwards. Also Zidane himself who went through an identity crisis twice in the story, once in Alexandria when he questions his purpose after Garnet becomes Queen of Alexandria and the more memorable moment in Bran Bal when he pulled through at the end with the help of the other party members. This is not to say that there were many weak characters with storyline events that were considerably less developed: Freya, Eiko, Quina, and Amarant.

Note that FF IX didn't have a very nailed down plot in the sense that the transitions in the plot made sense. However, they worked because players noticed that characterization of the team members was the core focus of the game and story pieces revolved around them including features such as the Active Time Event [ATE] which although didn't lend a great amount of weight towards the story, reflect the importance of seeing what your other characters were doing when they weren't hanging around Zidane and were exploring the other area out of their own curiosity therefore adding more detail that everything wasn't just revolving around the main character and tried to offer a greater sense of perspective.

Child of Light is a much simpler game than Final Fantasy IX, however there is no need to have such a large cast with a game that is only ten chapters are greatly simplified from the regular formula of gaming. Off the top of my head, the team members consist of: Igniculus, Robert, Rubella, Tristis, Norah, Gen, Finn, Oengus that are introduced throughout a ten chapter game. The size of the party is the same size as the FF IX main cast even if you treat Igniculus as a side-character or a non-playable character. FF IX for a forty to fifty hour game didn't even sufficiently flesh out all its characters.

Many premises could have been explored further. I was especially fond of Robert and the monetary aspect of his interests which ended up being more about him attaining prestige to attract his love interested rather than a sole interest in attaining capital. However, his love interest is barely even given a paragraph worth of dialogue despite that being the core reason why he remains with your party. The volume of dialogue that could be added to any of the characters is immense because of how much material is cut back since it isn't directly relevant to Aurora's plot to regain the sun, stars, and moon.

The last part is that I want to revisit my comment about the game feeling sterile. My impression of watching exploration in the game was that it felt like I was looking at a majestic piece of art but as I watched the interaction with the beautiful environment seemed to be incredibly limiting and simplistic side scrolling method of engagement seemed a bit too linear. When it comes to creating impression, I personally feel that gradually revealing parts of a greater environment leaves more of a distinct feeling that I'm actually traveling rather than moving across what I feel to be a plastered background. The aspect of movement from walking gets stripped by the freedom of flying, however when there the environment is there to serve solely as a visual stimulus with not a lot of interactive environment elements then the point of having a beautiful environment begins to fade into the background.[/End Plot Spoilers]

I feel that the game is a fantastic Vita port and I'm glad that it got offered to the handheld system because it's perfect there. I don't think that the game should have debuted on console because I frankly feel that not enough was put into the game to justify its placement there, unless it was aimed as being short-term investment for some quick gains rather than being a lasting game that adds legacy to the glut of RPG games that have appeared before it. The game imo is trumped by Okami which was more aggressive and successful in its push of art and interactive game mechanics. However, when it comes to the child maturation narrative, this is one of the most ambitious videogame narratives to date.

Twas an EBWOP.

I enjoyed it at times, but it's a massive time sink. I dropped it so I could do other things.
And of all those things, none of those things involve doing me.
