Man so like X1.12 has said in the past I have no filter. Class got annoyed with me about something I said. feels kinda bad man So anyone have problems being impulsive in class? I'm considering trying to be more quiet but then I forget and I am raising my hands as quick as possible
**** the class. If you have an opinion you want to voice, then college is a great time to say it when you have a bunch of other people forced to listen and consider it. Playing conservative runs counter to exploring new ideas and receiving feedback for any faulty ideas you may have that may not carry the weight you thought they did.

In my case it was multiple, small, irrelevant opinions stacking up until BOOM CLASS GET ANNOYED JUTSU. In this case, our professor was talking about why we always ask about using 1, 2, 3, or more decimal places when he continues to answer "it depends, 2, or 3" and we get into this deep discussion and I (desperately trying to get a say) state that we are justified in asking, partly due to possibly being wrong if off a few decimal places. Then I get a "but he already doesn't take off points! gah so annoying" but at the time I cannot formulate a great defense until AFTER. (Which is "I was only justifying us asking, I know that)

Usually I'm impulsive and say random things that makes the class laugh but I still wonder if I have crossed a line... and for me it's hard to really filter everything and tell myself "NO, forget this" unless I don't feel like sharing. It depends on the professor and this particular professor is very engaging and I can't help myself ;-;

Yeah, well maybe I don't want class to be wasted on some guy showing off that he knows multi-thread processing by asking tangentially related questions about it when the class is about data structures.

edit: In retrospect this isn't necessarily the same as what Ranmaru was doing. But it's annoying when other people are wasting your class time for something pointless, which I assume is what he's doing and why they're getting mad at him.

Man this brings back bad memories of the time I shouted out "It's sh*t" when a group of kids were just starting a presentation for a product they'd come up with.

In my defence, the product was a pooper scooper.

In high school it's different than college though. In high school, you're forced to go and ****in grade school blows. But you pay for college education, not to hear some student say something that doesn't have a direct impact with what is going on in class.

I would say do your best not to interrupt your class. Other than that it's not really a big deal. You can probably tell if you're saying too much, either in one sitting or peppered through the whole class.

I find it helps to write things down if I have a point that I want to make, that way I can save it for later. If you don't get the chance to voice it during the class, you can always talk to your professor or one of your classmates later on.

I seem to remember foaming at the mouth when you claimed a guilty on J (note: a fabricated guilty) directly after I said not to claim out of order with a specific note that said THIS MEANS YOU RAN.

I deleted 4 paragraphs of rant designed to make you feel so ******** your children would be in special ED because it was the EXACT SAME THING YOU DID AT APEX EXCEPT ON A FORUM!

Damn. You got me. Ok I concede. I forget that in theory I would THINK I would understand but then I forget my overwhelming urge was still a factor.

Ronald Jenkees is working as one of the composers for some indie game that's coming out soon. New favorite videogame music incoming.

Was playing Hearthstone recently, so I read that as "Leeroy Jenkins" at first and got really confused.

I am loving this game.
Every Tales game has a character who is literally ignorant as ****, like literally borderline ********, and the other characters have to teach them how to function so that the game has an excuse to give you a tutorial.

Symphonia has both Lloyd and Collette
Abyss has Luke
Vesperia has Estelle
and apparently Graces has "what's an airhead?" chick, as well as "it's a really smart person" dude.

Is there a Tales game that doesn't blatantly do the same thing? Cuz the 3 I listed are the only ones I've played.

I wouldn't think Lloyd or collette were that dumb, well Lloyd is literately dumb just not dumb to other things. Collette was smart in other areas.

I want to say Xillia no one is truly fitting that in the main party. Well Judith could fit that but in the situations it pretty fair, he's a doctor but what should a college student know of the stuff he was shoved at?

Rest I agree but Symphonia and Xillia, I can't really agree there.

Lloyd is dumb enough that things need to be explained to him constantly. Coincidentally, he's always ignorant about some thing they learned in class that he can't quite recall, so Genis, Raine, or Kratos needs to explain it to him so they have an excuse to fill you in on the world's lore. It's not a bad storytelling tool, but I can't help but notice they use it in every game.

Collette isn't really used in that manner, but she's such an irritating character. I played through that game at least a dozen times, and I didn't stop wanting to kill her until like, the 8th playthrough or so. She's book smart, with no common sense. That means she's dumb, as far as I'm concerned. Lloyd is the opposite, he actually has more common sense than most of the cast, but basically has zero education.

WARNING UNPOPULAR OPINION AHEAD

I like Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of The New World.

Emil is a ****ty character but the combat was satisfying as ever, and it ties into the first Symphonia game so it makes up for it anyways. I found the actual story was handled..okayish, but the plot twist was executed well enough where I didn't see it coming, and I felt like it was actually pretty clever. I found myself laughing in a not mocking manner at a lot of the dialogue too, especially the extra character interactions. Emil even gets somewhat better as the game goes on, and the only gripes I can really think of is that you can't level the Symphonia characters and it's still not as strong as the first symphonia overall.

I don't agree with your wording here. 'Ignorant' and 'Dumb' are not the same thing, and it's not even the first word I would use to describe these characters.

Lloyd and Colette have been covered, and I agree with your conclusions there.
Haven't played Abyss yet.
Estelle is most certainly NOT dumb. Quite the opposite. She's sheltered. Totally different. She's not much different than say, Elizabeth in Bioshock Infinite, except for how they play off the character. They revel in Estelle's innocence and make a point of emphasizing it.

As for Sophie (purple hair) and Pascal (white/red) (they're also both girls btw):

Sophie is literally found in a meadow with amnesia. So that's a contrived plot device, and would fall into the 'ignorant' category, but I wouldn't say she's stupid.

Pascal is actually quite smart (she's the only one who knows how to work the devices in the ruins where she joins up), but she's also comic relief. She acts outwardly airheaded/goofy, but she's not actually stupid. Eccentric would be the word I'd use.

Gonna assume you meant Jude where you said Judith.

EBWOP: To add to the Pascal point, her being outwardy goofy is essentially what differentiates her from being just another carbon-copy of Raine or Rita.

Nah man, Estelle is basically the same character as Collette, with less face planting. I get that they tried to make her different, but they did not succeed. There's a lot of things about her that just feel completely unfinished. Like, they make it seem like there's some romantic interest between her and Flynn, or between her and Yuri. Unlike most other Tales games there is no system in place to explore either of those relationships, and it disappears completely less than halfway through the game and is never explored. What we're left with, is a character who is ignorant of the world, and needs things explained to her all the time. She's a lot less grating than Collette, but her role in the story, and social role in the group is pretty much identical. She's a moral compass, who doesn't know any better.

The "sheltered" description applies to Luke from Abyss as well, but if you play the game you'll find that even though he's not "stupid", just "ignorant", every single other character treats him like he's ******** the whole first half of the game. Then when they stop treating him like a dumb monkey, and give him some actual responsibility, you figure out that he actually is kinda stupid. He's a pretty irritating "main character", but not everyone can be as awesome as Yuri.

Boo! Shame on you! It piggybacks off of the characters from Symphonia while limiting the character growth that the Tales series is known for. I could not stand either of the protagonists and the monster capture system belongs in Pokemon, not Tales. The only likable character was the ****ing sadist, that's a problem here.
