Don't listen to Raz, Wonderful 101 is the SHIZ. Very enjoyable, very interesting, very worth getting invested into imo. The controls are a little tough to get a handle on, but once you get it you'll realize how awesome it is to switch through the various weapons and treat em like classes n ****. Same creators as Viewtiful Joe and Mad World, so if you enjoyed those games and what they had to offer, wonderful 101 is AMAZING, plus, it's cheap as hell for no apparent reason. I got my copy brand new for 25 bucks at best buy.

To add to what Raziek said of the ones he listed I'd definitively recommend Catherine, The World Ends With You, and Xenoblade. Like a lot of what he recommended was very good, but I want to emphasize those 3.

Catherine is a really good puzzle game with an interesting story. The music is fantastic and strangely fits with the whole thing. It is challenging and fantastic .It also has a really good 2-player mode.

The World Ends With You is an RPG where all battles are controlled through the touchscreen. You control a kid named Neku as he has to survive in the reaper's game for 7 days. To battle your enemies you are given psychs (in the form of pins) every pyschs has a different ability and you can equip a maximum of 6 of them, playing around with what type of combination you prefer is pretty fun in itself.

There are SO MANY DETAILS in this game that make the whole thing amazing, the way you grind stats is by eating food, and each character has a different set of food they prefer over the other, characters can get full after certain amount of "bytes" Every store has its own set of brand clothing, and combining the clothing of brands and pin affect the overworld and bonus stats you can get (plus you can also crossdress and its even encouraged as it gives big bonuses)

The story is pretty good, so are the characters and the OST. I heavily it recommend it if you haven't played it Circus.

Xenoblade is a long RPG with an interesting combat system and a likeable party. It has a huge world that you are basically free to explore after a certain early point in the story. The music is GREAT, every track fits the area really well, and the the battle music is phenomenal too.

I feel the story starts very strong, but falls short near endgame, its still enjoyable. The only big downside I'd say the game has is that most of the sidequest are very generic and poor, but the good thing is that you can stockpile accepted sidequests and clear them as you go along, its not necessary to go back to the person that requested it to clear it in most occasions.

You can chose to primarily control any member f your party, as the AI controls the other 2. You can chose whoever you think fits your playstyle best, and suit the party accordingly.

Wii U: The Wonderful 101

Quoting people from other forum.

Wonderful 101 is a game where "**** gets real exponentially, gameplay and story-wise."

or alternatively: " is just a series of events causing **** to get realer and realer until **** is at its realest."

Both descriptions also apply to Metal Gear Rising too.

This is the best interpretation of what the game is. It's epic, and **** just keeps getting realer for its own sake. But the delivery is so fun and you just can't take it as a serious game. It has a lot of fun with itself, and it's awesome playing it cuz it's not trying to be more than what it is: a really good video game.

P4 is great but a lot of SMT fans hate it because it's the most 'cheery' one to date. I think this is a baseless criticism and I can't see what's to hate about it, romance is even optional this time if 'date simulator' isn't your thing, and the characters are all quite likable and the dialogue is well-written, and the plot twist is done well. It's basically like a better version of P3 in my opinion, maybe not as 'dark' as it's predecessor but loads of fun nonetheless.
The cheeriness underlines the dark stuff and vice-versa and both halves are better as a result. Megaten is always good, but when it's all despair all the time I question what people are getting out of it.

why do I keep getting shipped with all these dgamers:c:c
It's because you and Ryker were briefly trending on post content and Ryker bounced us together so I wanted to send him a similar response. You're just in the middle of a game between me and Ryker. There is nothing really personal between us aside from the fact that I used you to fulfill some needs and then tossed you aside like the flavor of the week.

If Circus managed to find enjoyment in No More Heroes, I'd be confused and aroused. I think I am obligated to mention Catherine, as well as Killer7, and any SMT on PSN is worth the price of admission, roll a die.

But most of all I am going to bring up Chulip if we ignore RPGs, which is on PSN and should be played by everyone to make the world a better place.
I played No More Heroes on the Wii and enjoyed myself. Didn't finish it though. I think some boss with a shopping cart and a giant laser or something made me put it down.

Catherine always looked interesting but it also scares me. Not in terms of content but in terms of difficulty.

Will google Chulip.

im laughing about the people who like borderlands because basically ratchet and clank is like borderlands except actually funny and interesting to play

SPEEDO BUSTA

Catherine is not nearly as hard as it appears. The difficulty curve prepares you well and there are lots of items to help you through a stage. Make sure to play online for an innocuous survey mechanic.

Chulip is a game where you're a rural kid in Japan moving into a larger town, and you meet a girl who you have a crush on, but she won't date you unless you become a seasoned romantic. So your goal is to (consensually, or else you get beat up) kiss all of the residents of the town to up your cred. The art style is fantastic, the dialogue is hilarious and the music is extremely catchy.

I think the game is bad, the humor is poorly executed and sometimes cringe-worthy, the gunplay is average barring a limited gun customization aspect that doesn't addd nearly as much variety as it actually proclaims. I bought it last september or so and found myself quite bored with it, but In light of this I might go try it again.

Also their use of internet memes in that game makes me want to die, internally.

Edit: Randy Pitchford is also a ****ter and ruined Duke Nukem.

To be fair, I never actually played the first one if that's what you're referencing specifically.

But mostly I just take issue with the comparison to Ratchet at all, as the games are going for completely different ideas. I can't speak to the Ratchet & Clank series as much, but to reduce Borderlands down to "it doesn't take itself seriously and there are guns" is unfair.

On the subject of it's comedy specifically, some jokes do fall flat, but the characters are pretty enjoyable overall and the tone is, to me, a nice mix of skewering and serious. I play mainly for the "RPG elements" and loot addition though, which I don't think are even present in R&C?

Speaking of Borderlands 2, if anyone has a Vita, you should play it with me when it comes out!

Yeah like the whole game keeps escalating and becoming increasingly over the top in such a funny way but it also ends being awesome.

It doesn't take it self too seriously and its great for that. The gameplay its really deep, it takes a bit to master it, but its really rewarding once you do.

Borderlands was fine, like a 7/10. It read to me as more 'wacky' than funny.

@ Raziek Raziek , @BarDulL I was really tempted to use your ablinks but It might makes me feel like a dirty cheater and I want to discover all of the job moves on my own instead of getting them handed to me on a silver platter. Your summons though, my god. I wasted them too early today, but they're beyond OP. I'm also playing on Hard.

Can't comment on Randy Pitchford as a person (he seems affable but maybe stupid?), but if you think he or Gearbox is the reason Duke Nukem Forever sucks, you are beyond delusional. That game was in development hell for years before Gearbox scooped it up. The only reason that game even got released is because Gearbox took pity on it.

But if you want to **** on Aliens: Colonial Marines, I can't stop you.

I can understand that.

Friend summons are entirely OP. Abilinking is not. Stats/Gear are what you mainly scale on, but some of the abilities do really help. But I don't consider it game-breaking really.

radiata stories if you manage to find it, play it
The game and game play felt shallow to me. I thought that the beginning of the game was entertaining and the environment was compelling for the beginning of the game. However, the maps for each region felt incredibly restricted as the game bore on. Areas felt extremely repetitive and the world as a whole felt like something I had already been exposed to before with little point in further exploration. Character recruitment was a central aspect of the game, however there were too many restrictions that were too arbitrary for my tastes including the fact that I overslept to trigger a recruitment segment resulting in me losing the chance to recruit the more powerful members of each guild to my team. The plot in the beginning is presented well and the pacing is respectable until you get to the point where you get to the Blood Orcs. Then the pacing of the story really lags and the story developments don't merit the amount of time you dedicate to earn a new piece of the story. Not to mention that at the later portion of the game, the story seems incredibly forced.

The first quarter of the game which is exposition on Jack and the Rose Cochone is entertaining because it is incredibly light hearted which makes the whole childish voices and asinine jokes tolerable. However, when the game tries to be too serious, too dramatic, and too forced with the formulaic RPG elements that the entire game just feels like it's trying to appeal to you by using the most shallow means possible. It's a game that isn't complex, yet tries to be with the chain team mechanics and the Volt special attacks which aren't clearly explained anywhere nor are they needed in order to win any of the battles. This is a game that was drawn, designed, and crafted to appeal to children by pandering explicitly to jRPG qualities they would like. The game though doesn't have a heart or a soul. It's empty, so very empty. And if you need additional verification, look at the bonus dungeon and how it completely overturns any consistency initially developed by the main story line in order to pay tribute to older titles while still trying to add in some secret story elements i.e. Jack's dad.

Why
Because I'm not FINISHED it yet. I'm on Chapter 8 and doing literally every side mission. And they have some hellish gauntlet fights late in the game.

While that is absolutely one of the reasons I continue to play, it got censored some for the US version. Not nearly as revealing.

Okay I'm just gonna have to pop in to say something. Radiata Stories got mentioned and someone said "no" and I need to reach my arm through the gosh darned internet and smack someone. That game has the absolute worst voice acting of any game I've ever played. Like I'm not even kidding, probably. But that game has a hella cool story, hella cool characters aside from the main one, and is hella fun. And it's really high up on re-playability list for RPGs, due to combat being very customizable to a lot of styles and characters, and the story being so variable. You can get like 3 playthroughs just from the desire to complete the story and hear out every character. You done got me upset.

Happy Easter weekend folks!

My local gamestore had a huge 50% off nearly everything sale, so I made a few purchases, pretty pleased.

The writings a bit small, but that's Ragnarok Odyssey Ace, Shining Force EXA, Atelier Escha & Logy, and a Devil Survivor art book. Came to about $130.

Radiata Spoilers.

The ending for human path and non human path are identical aside from Ridley living in one path and dying in the other. You would expect this to be a big deal, but it actually isn't because this isn't a good game with good character development. It is a lifeless game with no soul, so the difference is one cutscene where they are holding hands and if you chose the other path you see Jack walking away from Radiata alone with his dad's sword in his back pack because this used to be an important plot point at some point in the game but ceased to be relevant until it was used symbolically in the end.

The end game boss is re-used although there is no reason for him to be used in the human path since he sided with the humans and given the fact that he is a dragon could have likely avoided the fight given the fact that he is flying in the fight itself. Little to no explanation on what the hell is going on with Alganders. Little to no ending on that whole battle going on between the fairy and the humans. So many open holes that make the game feel incomplete. You can play through each ending, but consensus is that the game as a whole with both endings still felt incomplete with major plot lines completely going unresolved.

Again my impression of the game. This game wasn't supposed to be a serious game. Something happened at the developer meeting where the market team came in and said that this game needed to be a different game, but they already had made the beginning of the game. So they turned a light hearted game into a Final Fantasy game, shoe horned a romance segment between the male protagonist and female protagonist because he is a guy and she is a girl and naturally they have to fall in love with each other although it seems to come rather spontaneously. Then after this whole nonsense they give you post-game stuff which is a cameo of dudes from other games and also Jack's dad. Distortion Corridor goes back to the beginning of the game, completely light-hearted and screwy and hahaha this isn't serious at all fight the cardboard dragon because why not, ect.
