Known as not only one of the smartest vets in the game, but is known for being the most ruthless. Not even a doc claim would save you from his wrath. He as a posse of broskies and would do what it takes to win (as long as it doesn't conflict with the C.O.B (Code of Bros). Give it up for Marshy.

i was impressed by adumbrodeus in lord of the rings mafia. i remember reading along mostly cuz my bros chaco and macman were in it and when nick (the mod) told me that adumbro was scum i was like "man my bros are gonna get *****" and i was so sad specially cuz macman was whiteknighting adumbro at one point i think. i think it was one of adums first games here and he was way more knowledgeable than the average newer player so im sure that threw off a lot of the protown players there. luckily my boys won the game through their unity of bromanship but yeah adum was great. that game is one of my favorite reads

i also liked how vult redux played in tales of symphonia tho he was only "new" in the sense that he didnt play many games here. i remember reading his posts and noticing that he had the same question(s) or conclusions that i had. he was concise asked all the right questions and most importantly had a good sense of when someone just needed to die you know? and sometimes thats all you need in a fellow townie

thinkaman was good in that game too but he never played here again. shame

id say...evil eye xiivi and ronike. ee could just flood the thread with walls and confuse the town into not wanting to even play. xiivi cuz hed be down to try any kind of strategy with me and wed scheme on aim a lot. ronike cuz ive worked well with him so many times as every alignment. as indy siblings in ff7 scumbros in tourney mafia where we nearly won and then a bunch of times as town like slj2 where i helped him push the wagon he was leading (on tom the scummo aka scu-om) and as moronik (our hydra) where were usually able to pick out at least one scumbag

If you were to pull into a gas station at about 11:00pm and another guy pumping gas into his car were to pull a double take when you got out of your car, approach you, and say, "Marshy, is that you? It's me Rockin!" How would you respond?

nah i dont actively play mafia anymore. swf is the only place i play. as for why i dont play anymore its partially cuz of burnout. there was a point where i was in 8 or 9 games which happened to be every game that had been running on the site. the biggest reason is that i had an accumulation of bad experiences with the game even after i started limiting myself a lot more. no lynches and ****ty lynches get tiring after a while and the game just became too slow paced for me. im aware its faster now but eh not feelin it

i THINK this is why i lost interest in mafia but im honestly not sure. salot to analyze

What's your favorite open setup for under 10 players? Over 10 players?

i dont like any of the open setups with less than 10 players cuz theres usually only 2 scum which is balls. if its 10+ players then its jungle republic. lots of scum to hunt for everyone

my favorite role to play altogether is vigilante. theres so many times where ive made up my mind on someones alignment and am ready for them to just flip but youve gotta go through the lynching process which can be slow. and theres usually more than one person i want to see flip so after the lynch is through im ready to shoot another. my favorite mafia role is godfather i guess. i can bus my scumbros all daily and/or look clean for the cop. if its indy then its gotta be sk due to the freedom that comes with the role

Have you read any game here at SWF recently? If so, do you think the metagame here has changed significantly, and how?

ive skimmed a few. they last longer than they did a while back. pretty sure i see day ones last like 15-25 pages on average nowadays while that could be like half a game or even the entire game earlier. so i guess theres a lot more emphasis on activity. id like to go into more detail on the metagame but i dont read i skim

What players do you think have the most interesting or effective playstyles? Not really asking which ones you think are strategically the best, but what ones you simply find interesting in a generally positive way.

i havent played with mentos in a long time but back when we were both active he was excellent at pushing multiple lines of useful discussion while also giving good input on his own. he was real logical and i dunno sometimes people ask other players questions and im like really though how is that helpful? but mentos always had solid direction with his questioning which would help get players involved in the game and really thinking

kevin i love to play with. hes straight to the point and always down to wagon/lynch *****es when they need to die. he doesnt complicate things he just sticks to his guns and sees what happens

kataefis another character. he has a good sense of humor that makes him so fun to play with. mean scumhunt. he also knows when to pull the trigger from what ive seen which i think is one of the best qualities a town (player) can have

i like ronikes combativeness willingness to challenge anyone and how little of a **** he generally gives. the latter two qualities are things i really appreciate in players. theres been so many times where ive played a game and failed to lynch someone i thought was scum then die and have to watch painfully from the sidelines. or id be following a game and rooting for a protown guy who later dies and then his scumpicks (who he pushed and hence a huge reason why he died) get ignored

omnis interesting too. i think hes the most active player ive seen. hes a pain to deal with as scum cuz hes always whipping people into activity and usually has strong influence over the lynch

ee adds a lot to games. every time im on the forum and see that he was the last person to post in the game i go get popcorn and spend like a half hour reading his novelpost. he does a lot of cases which really gets people to notice a player

and frozen is hella smart and incorporates his vast knowledge of mafia into his posts. players learn when they listen to him

im in my senior year of high school and since i tackled all of my difficult classes and earned my credits at the beginning of my high school career i can just chill now. i go to school for english fitness and phys ed then work then the gym. so im having fun doing physical stuff all day and am feeling productive. i went rock climbing for the first time in years the other day **** was ballin and ill likely take it up as a hobby over the summer

tales of symphonia was my favorite setup. i value simple setups and all town had that game was a cop and doc. then i usually hate indies but there was a team of them in that game so they werent obnoxious plus the other scumbags left a lot of scum to hunt. classic

Imagine two scum players. One is so good at appearing town that they hardly ever get questioned because they are considered ovbtown all game. One is not obvtown but is capable to arguing their way out of almost any situation. Which player is better? Which player do you think newbies should strive to be?

both are effective but the guy who can wiggle out of almost any situation is definitely better i think. i think its hard to be considered obvtown over a long period of time cuz then you get people saying things like "ok his play is pretty protown but weve seen him pull tricksy stuff in the past so im keeping an eye on him" and theyll get questioned anyway. at least if youre good at argument you can bat them away. plus as scum its usually easier to win if your team has good communication so like if you have a scumbro whos playing terribly you can feed him lines and arguments if you know how out to deal with tough situations. its hard to make them obvtown unless youre straight up making his posts for him

Do you think that there is just a thing as having "swagger" in a mafia game? As in, an ability to influance players just through ones posting style?

yeah i think there is. a lot of people are impressed by how to the point and confident kevin is. others read ees novels and are like "damn how could i not vote who ee voted when his one case is longer than all of my posts in this game combined". then tom back in the day would make posts where hed analyze the **** out of everything and was really good at pushing discussion. omni also comes to mind in that hes really effective at building voting blocs with his "holding hands" talk. it can really bring a group of players to take action. there are others but im just demonstrating a few players who are memorable due to one factor: SWAG

those without swag are indeed able to obtain it. i admit i had no swag back when i started playing and took a break after my first couple of games because i was embarrassed by how poorly i played in food court where me and ronike voted out frozen in lylo. frozen actually lectured me after it ended and as a little noob it scared me from playing more but inspired me to LEARN how to play the game before i jumped into another one so i took a break (lol thanks bro this actually improved my play by miles). during this break i hit up mafiascum and read dozens and dozens of games where i got to see a bunch of different playstyles at play along with a more mature crowd of players there as opposed to here when we didnt even have a queue. id ask myself 'whats effective about their playstyle? can i incorporate that kind of posting into my own?'. it was awesome i was just overwhelmed by how unique someone can be with their playstyle and all the philosophies that flew around regarding the game. back when i was active id follow games on mafiascum and almost study how certain players would carry themselves in games. so yeah basically just steal what looks good

Any thoughts you'd like to share on Wonderland mafia from way back when?

i distinctly remember opening my role pm and 'ing when i saw that i was the goon and you (nick) and riddle were my partners. not to be a **** but there were a lot of great players and you guys were probably the newest players in that game. but then i realized you guys were active on aim so i was hyped to coordinate with yall there. i remember d1 being absolute balls cuz riddle kept posting stupid **** and i kept telling him to chill and not post til i could feed him lines but id open the thread to more LYNCH ME comments and was bummed when he got lynched and we had no roleblocker

i think the game really came down to d3 when it was cacti v me in that claim fight. he was the universal backup and inherited macmans watcher power and saw me over ghebs corpse and once 2/3 of our team was wiped out with an indy (XIIVI ) running around with his weird notes we couldnt recover. i hope you guys enjoyed scheming with me over aim/pm and encouraged/incorporated that kind of communication into your own scumplay

What were your most memorable adventure game moments?

fog

definitely being excited to make an impact on the game from the beginning. i was the towns deputy and reached out to the sheriff (played by mediocre) and we became bros. as the game progressed and players started interacted an "a-team" was formed that consisted of dr phibes (eor) stevie wayne (tom) sheriff simms (mediocre) pliskin (pliskin) and sandy fadel (tmw_redcell aka mashad). we handled several of the games major events together or some combination of us. the best part was exploring a cave where we fought bears and worked together to figure out indiana jones-style puzzles. we shouldve been more skeptical of each other tho i guess cuz mashad was a traitor and killed me and eor

when it comes to more independent memories then it was definitely all the fights i had with people including a psycho couple anthony song (mr. lombardi) and erica parker (wikipedia) that had a traitor between them (lol i ended up shooting one of them who was innocent and eor got to kill the bad guy >: () nick castle a former marine (mccloud) a fog ghost (bad guy played by lombo again) and an invincible fog ghost (long story. this one was played <3) who ended up injuring me leaving me immobile long enough for his fellow traitor mashad to dig the machete <3 stuck in me far enough to bleed out and die

batman

striking a game long alliance with mr lau (virgilijus) was one of the smartest things ive done in an adventure game. he hooked me up with so much military gear and equipment and saved my *** a few times. he was the only true ally i had tho i was gonna kill him at the end of the game but it got canceled before then

fighting batman and robin was cool but ill get to that later in the interview

having officer gordon (mr lombardi) use his police for my agenda was another good moment for me. i located hush (pythag) and falconi (mcfox) and helped get them busted by batman/dent to further my wincon. i then found chechen (handorin) and hunted him down in his yacht or whatever. good showdown

theres some other stuff but they werent full fledged adventure games. stuff like toms beta where i got to control several characters at once (i was multiple man) and the various betas for gae a few summers ago stick out as well

What were your most upsetting mafia game moments?

singlehandedly losing town the game in vengeful mafia in less than 3 pages. it was a reality check

just dying in the fog. i had a lot more i had to do in that game and was also one of the more active players

Who were your arch enemies in notable mafia games and why?

macman in down and dirty for being onto me at the beginning but then backing off and then the game coming down to lynching me (scum) or him (town) in mylo

frozen (sk) in mafia tourney sleepover. there was a point where i thought he was sk ( was scum) and claimed tracking him to kevins body to get him killed but then a confirmed townie started whiteknighting him cuz of language used in a night action pm i think? anyway i backed off after that and then he killed me which i think sealed the victory for him

marc in star fox mafia (scum) is the biggest example tho. i (town) suspected him from near the beginning but failed to sway anyone. i held my suspicion and almost daykilled him d2 but i chose his buddy to die over him. then i read the game again and naively gave him a pass for most of the game cuz of his convincing bus. i was in mylo (essentially lylo for some reason i forget) with him/virg/medi (last two as town) and swayed between him and medi for like literally 2 weeks. in the last 10 minutes of the game i voted him and then unvoted cuz i ****ed out of making a decision. marc ended up getting lynched due to the voting rules in place but it was a ***** way to win and shook my confidence in playing as town for a good while

Who were your arch enemies in adventure games and why?

eh. i guess lombardi in fog counts cuz i fought him twice cuz he wanted to get revenge for me killing his girlfriend but we didnt interact that much

as for batman...just batman (scav) and robin (rockin). batman always ruined my plans. i killed a target in a public building (i was a serial killer remember) and on my getaway (a police chopper i hopped into and told the pilot to fly) he hunted and almost arrested me. robin cuz he was salty i killed his roommate and wanted revenge which he achieved to an extent by being the one to arrest me. i wanted to fight him afterwards but joker got to him first

id go more into detail about the batman portion but ill leave that to ee for the report card

Who are you always wary of going into mafia games, and why?

townies i am cautious of

tom cuz he townhunts and is good at narrowing the lynch pool. im usually in it

macman cuz hes good at sniffing me out as scum

ronike cuz ive hydrad with him and he has a good grasp of my tricks and thought processes plus being a really good scumhunter

virgilijus cuz hes hella smart

eor: clever and cant be trusted. i mean this guy played the joker to near perfection would you trust him in an adventure game?

mediocre: hella smart and resourceful

tom: sneaky maw****a wholl turn on you before you know it man

evil eye: modded 2 games and has a good idea of everyones tricks and thought processes

yep. losing vengeful and unfairly winning star fox (both as town) made me understand that i need to step back and reevaluate things sometimes instead of being way too gung ho. they were both good kicks in the teeth

What do you love about adventure games?

its in extremes. on one hand i love working by myself and having a lot of freedom with maybe like one or two solid allies like in batman with virg. everything gets done faster and i dont have to worry about looking out for my bros

on the other hand theres some awesome camaraderie when youre forced to work with others. i love when im thrown into situations with players i hardly know or havent played with before and we gradually improve our teamwork and build trust (to a level!). or when i run into a player ive worked well with in another game and get to meet them all over again and possibly even be on the opposite side. yeah actually the camaraderie is what makes it for me cuz im still tight with most of the bros ive made through adventure games

What was it like tackling your first adventure game as Deputy Laugher? What was the transition out of mafia like? What was new and exciting/scary? Old hat and familiar? How'd you get in the mind of the character? Particularly as he gradually lost his grip on sanity and you effectively had to play two characters that had no clue of the other's existence.

there was really no transition cuz i had barely played mafia by the time i joined fog so it was completely new ground. the biggest difference was the ability to approach anyone and size them up one on one. can i see myself working well with this person? is he on my side? does he have anything to offer me? the most exciting part was interacting and meeting new people/players. i loved running into as many people as i could and experiencing different characters

as for laugher i just let simms (medi) direct me at the beginning. i made it clear to him that i had no idea what i was doing and that he should see me as his gun. he (mercifully lol) told me to chill and i started doing things on my own tho id always alert him about what i was up to. he was a good mentor and im lucky that he turned out to be a good guy cuz i confided pretty much everything i knew to him

going insane after i mistakenly killed an innocent was fun. i just did ridiculous **** that made no sense just cuz why not? i liked the new freedom i had where i could pick a fight with anyone but it was weird interacting with my allies as laugher then going back into gold rush mode and withdrawing from all communication with them then back again like nothing happened

What was it like to tackle the role of shifty Frenchman Henri Ducard? What did you do differently from what was defined as your standard AGame approach by The Fog? How did you get in his head? What was it like to fight Scav as Batman? What was it like to fight Rockin as Robin? What was it like to try to keep Eor as the Joker alive even though he was frequently trying to kill you?

the fog was all about teamwork for me. i was constantly in contact with phibes (eor) and simms (mediocre) about how we could find traitors and going on missions and whatnot. i never led an operation instead i was usually taking orders which was fine cuz they were more clever than me and being the brawn was my primary role of the a team. however by the time batman wotk started i had been stabbed in the back by tom in infection (literally he stabbed me in the back of the head after i had been infected even tho we had an antidote what a ****!) and mashad in the fog when he drove a machete through me after i was injured from a fight with a fog ghost. so i was WAY more distrusting and skeptical of everybody in this game so much so that my only true ally throughout the game was lau (virgilijus)

ducard was a serial killer whose modus operandi was to cut off the head of the snake of corrupt crime meaning i always targeted the mob bosses. i liked to work alone so i would find information regarding lets say a goon employed by chechen then go torture him for information kill him and so on til i found out more about my targets. virg provided me with shelter food and weapons but also gave me freedom. in exchange id hunt whoever he wanted tho this didnt come up that much

i ran into batman after making too much noise when killing one of gambols (flipstar) men. i was in a huge office building that the police had surrounded so after i mowed them down i jumped into the the police choppers they had used to corner to me pointed my gun at the pilot and told him to go. but yeah right after that i hear a grappling hook and turn around to see batman im thinking im completely screwed cuz i was already injured. i tried to talk him down (i wasnt allowed to kill him for reasons ill let ee explain when he does my report card) but he was too pissed to listen so he charged at me. he took advantage of the bullet wounds i suffered on my escape from the building by focusing his attacks there. he throws down a smoke grenade and starts striking me from where i cant see but i am able to hold my ground and anticipate him and get a few good hits in as well (ducards literally a ninja) plus the nifty gas mask lau hooked me up with helped me get through that. this is all happening as the pilot struggles to decide whether to land in the red district (laus headquarters) like i told him to if he wanted to live or in the black district (police station i think). anyway im eventually pushed out of the chopper while we are over some coast in the city with batman holding me but i stab him in the chest and dive away. i feel a grappler catch around my ankle before i hit the water and my momentum shifts as i look up and see batman gliding me towards the shore. i cut that bad boy off with my ka bar and after hitting the water start swimming towards a small boat handled by an unknown chinese man that lau had supplied as means of escape (virg saved my *** so many times such a bro). i reach it and of course batman turns around and meets me there. we tussle more until im fatigued and on the ground. he places a handcuff on me and has the other in his hand and were kind of doing a weird little dance while im still in my fighting stance expecting to lose and the game to be over right there. then he got cocky and said some whack line like "you never taught me the handcuff stance sensei" then he just gets shot in the back clear off the boat with a shotgun the chinese man had. he was a goon virg had planted there to help. batman nearly ****ing kicked my ****ing *** man http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=6776015&postcount=301

later in the game someone in the thread had announced that they were in robinson park so i was bored and rolled up there and asked a citizen if he knew where this guy was. he hadnt known so i shot him dead and started driving away salty that i couldnt get into a fight cuz i love that ****. i hear a plop on the roof and i know **** is going down. i start swerving and then accelerating to sudden breaks to try to get this guy off and i can hear him being violently thrown around. as i keep driving he throws some gunk on the windshield so i bailed and ran into some alleyways while swat sirens are sounding off. i looked back but no one was there so i kept running. well it was dark so as id run some force would swoop down and crash into me and be gone by the time i recovered. i tried to taunt him into fighting me one on one but he didnt take the bait and instead used his gadgets to trip me up. the swat sirens are louder and pull up into the alleyway on both sides while a motorcycle approaches me. im hoping that the bike is someone there to save me but instead he swipes against me and knocks me down. swat dudes tackle me and im fighting them off and even shooting them but yeah im overwhelmed and gordon stands over me while im restrained. i was thinking about reaching for my baretta but it got swatted (ho ho ho) out of my hand. i look over to robin getting onto the back of the bike with a cloaked man riding it. i tell the cloak man id be in his debt if he saved me but he says nothing and rides off. the cloaked guy turned out to be the joker whod eventually crucify robin and id only interact with after i left mcu (police station). but yeah fighting robin was so discouraging cuz i handled all of my opponents before then pretty well but i was helpless here. its awesome tho cuz i felt like prey and batman/robin being hunters is what ee was going for

as for joker (eor) he was one of the few characters along with batman that i could TRULY be allies with for reasons ee can go into for the report card (man why did i have the most stubborn people as my potential bros). after i left mcu i got bored in the gameworld cuz all i would do is wait for lombo to give me information regarding where people were then go kill them so id have a lot of free time between each target. i hit up joker and told him i was down to go do crazy **** with him. he offered to meet in person and i agreed and went on over. see whenever i went to public places id always wear a fedora and trench coat. so when i pulled up at the restaurant i threw those onto my apprentice ray (i was training him to be the next robin cuz i was actually looking out for batman but yeah more in the report card) and had him go in my place. sure enough the building explodes once he enters and joker spots him. then eor ims me like "i didnt want to kill you but i figured you were trying to kill me" and im loling like "man you sure got me. too bad my time in this game is done" and he eventually checks the body and realizes it isnt me. he goes back into joker character and we discuss allying but yeah an attempt on the life of your potential bro isnt a good foundation for a strong partnership. eor was pretty slick throughout the game tho he always saw through the constant lies i threw out in conversation with him hahaha. shame hes banned
