You mean you've only ever beaten me twice in tournament? Out of how many times we've played? And one of those times wasn't using anything even remotely close to the SBR rules and you won on time and not with skill?
Wait, you also got your *** handed to you by some random dude coming down from Oklahoma who I turned around and consistently 2 stocked? You also lost to a dude playing Captain Falcon in the finals of a tournament? You also haven't been to, wait for it, ANYTHING in the past couple of months?
You even went so far as to make a new screen name on AIM to message me and try to troll me on AIM; that **** was funny. You try your hardest, put in countless hours into this game, make it into your lifestyle and even go out of your way to insult people over it. I play this game maybe once a week and look at what I've accomplished at it. I hear I beat that Melee1 guy all the time.
Nice try dude. See you on Saturday when I put you into the loser's bracket.

I'm trying to make my weeklies enjoyable but I believe with you around I would lose alot of regulars. So melee1 you are not welcomed this week and depending on the Dallas community I may never let you come again.

New Ganon is a mix of win and fail. On one hand, his new Side+B is awesome, and some of his attacks got a bit more "oomph" too them and he looks badass doing it. And I love pulling out a sword for no reason.
On the other hand, his range of some more important attacks is crap, and because they took the extra jump out of his down+B his recovery went from great to god-awful.

Srsly, there's like 30 posts in the span of 24 hours ; 24 of them being misc. jack-assery and ****-talk so it's a little hard to run a filter on this and pick out all the useful information from the bull/paraphrasing/misunderstood restatements. Just saying, in the recap dictating that we were taking a vote, coulda been more specific.
I'll go get you one of the Nerf controllers for when you get mad...

No offense because in my dealing with you, you seem pretty cool, but when money's on the line, it's play to win or get eaten. For some people, playing to win also means they get their entire trip paid for and said trip my or may not have been rather pricey, especially for a college student. (Basically I'm pretty sure the ledge camping comment was directed at me but I'm not entirely sure so I'm responding in a roundabout way but this sidebar is completely ruining that idea? lol)Everyone is so cutthroat now. I do agree that there's no need to be cutthroat though. *****ing and arguing on the boards really does not accomplish anything other than making you look bad. At least one player that's posted in this thread recently has lost my respect, and their name is a pre-brawl smash game with a number appended to the end. Wew~

Also I don't think it should be sooo competitive you'll do whatever it takes to win, I think winning munnies cool but I think munnies should be involved only to mAke the game more fun. I don't think you should go to tourneys expecting to win, that kinda sux the Funn out. Its fun to compete and take it seriously but cmon its a gAme where a rat can beat a bounty hunter from space

The people who are not willing to put forth the extra effort to win will get beat by those who do.
What's more important is how you handle your victories and defeats. We all have to man up to our own style of smashing. If we are going to do WHATEVER it takes to win, we have to not lose control when we lose, and still try to be respectful off the battlefield even when we are trying every dirty, cheap trick you can think of while on it.
If we are only playing casually we shouldn't be taking too much stock whether we win or lose. More importantly, johns about someone who makes more effort than you to win is just bull. Johns about people who use certain techniques/characters is bull.

[/wall]Though I was only talking about bragging, you seem to have dug this topic up. So allow me to impart some wisdom on young smashers like yourself.

If you feel good about breaking the game and/or pushing it to the limits of what can actually be played, then you should take my advice and reevaluate things.
Smash Brawl isn't designed as well as it should be. Besides the unbalanced characters, there are other glaring issues that come up especially when "playing to win." In my eyes, the fault rests mainly with Sakurai. But that still doesn't excuse some of the attitude/actions I've seen recently.
In other words, you don't have to sell your soul just to get a few bucks here and there and an inflated, comparatively false sense of accomplishment. It's like the ICs freeze glitch. Sure, it's neat enough to execute the glitched. But we all know doing so takes the game out of the play. It's functionally like snatching the opponent's controller out of the system. Though nothing in Brawl is this extreme, there are plenty of characters and play styles that get close enough.
Back when smashers like me were building this community up from practically nothing, we had to make some calls and set rules/standards to promote the kind of sportsmanship and play we felt was at the heart of the game and for the best for the community.
All of you young smashers (as I call you) seem to have forgotten how things used to be. Either that, or you never knew.
So take it from me, the guy who's been playing smash since 64 day 1, who has been a part of the community since the days of Silas, and who has written more than 70,000 words of material on smash and the community, you're missing out on the best part.
I'm not saying change the way you're playing. Just like in Ratatouille, it's nice to eat some perspective every now and then.
