Counterpicks are SUPPOSE to give the loser the advantage in a set, and the counterpick stages selected by the SBR and TO's are chosen to favor a character without giving them a free win or not have complete bull**** occuring. And since a lot of us might go to Texas for this game someday, I made pirate ship and pokemon stadium 2 legal so we can learn the stages.

And yea, like Justin said, win the first game on the neutral and you're good

ok and the side tournament has been established =D

its going to be doubles with a really cool twist

the highest tier can only team with the lowest tier and so on


so mk and ganondorf would team
snake and link
wario capt falcon etc..

you can make any combination with your partner before matches and it'll be 2/3 normal rules!

im with duff on having a strict CP because usually most of the time some stages have some BS that costs players stocks. not only do you have to worry about your opponent playing campy or gay but you have to worry about the stage killing you or putting you in a ****ty situation. BUT some characters kinda do need these CPs to even be playable against higher tiers so its understandable.

You can play campy and gay on any stage, nuetrals included. CPs are meant to give certain characters/players a advantage or disadvantage.

Stages don't exactly matter to me; everything is close to level in my mind. I just need to be more weary of Snake. Actually, Norfair has an advantage against Peach though, doesn't it? Because she's so floaty, she can grab a ledge and become vulnerable, or ledge grab law. I dunno, just sayin' stuff...

Sure I can't stage spike there, but the ceiling and walls are cshort in range, so I won't complain about kill-ability. =/

Norfair can be a good stage for Peach, but it really depends on the person and the character she's fighting against. I'd rather just avoid the whole thing because the lava shenanigans are WORSE than Brinstar by a light-year. I'm pretty comfortable on every stage that is listed in the neutrals and CPS, I'd just rather not play on a few of them.

I can't really believe that any of our top contenders are worried about Norfair's allowance. Only a few players would ever consider CPing there and I think it's pretty well established who they are, get over sweating about losing a ban and just ban it. It's like Chris said, scrounging some kind of advantage is a CP's nature. If they're CPing, you won the first match anyway, you can't be too worried.
Training yourself on a larger selection of stages is healthy

also, the side tournament isn't tiers bryce

its the BEST and WORST character ad you keep going down the list

*Metaknight can ONLY team with ganondorf
*Snake can ONLY team with Link

keep going down the top tiers and up from the low tiers

=12th best character can team with 12th worse character etc...

I personally think this side tourney is pretty dumb. I know I won't pay to play in it, but I'd be game for just doing it to do it.

If you want to charge entry for it, have fun with your 2 teams who enter. xD

Interesting idea, Chris, but I think it would be more fun if we did tag teams instead! 1vs1 while your partner waits until you die, then they jump in! It would be hella tight! <3

another idea we had was "themed" teams without duplicates

like anyone from the mario series can team, kirby series, pokemon series, etc...

The original idea wasn't too bad, I just don't like how many restrictions get put on you. Having only 1 combination is kinda dumb. lol

I'd be game for crews, straight up low tiers, or tag team. Theme is ok, I'd probably still do it. No to the tier mirror one though. That one is like, bleh.

that sounds good since i am playing kirby and burt is playing ddd as a new character and he already plays DK and i play diddy we will most likely **** seeing as though im the best doubles player in az.

Also that tourne yesterday was so fun. lol at me trying to be sneaky....i guess i got what i deserved by having to play kira twice. =(

I really liked the tier thing, but it was really limiting... maybe if it was whole tiers so S tier could only team with F tier, and A teamed with E, etc.

Themes seem cool I guess, but like derp said kirby group is obviously broken.

Wobbles want to team mario and yoshi? bolded cause if he does come through thread I want him to see message lol.

Surprised yoshi has his own group and isn't in the mario group or the mario spinoff group.

If you really want to get technical, yoshi could be considered a mario spinoff character since his symbol is an egg and not a mushroom meaning that they're counting him as a character from yoshis island and not the mushroom kingdom. Oh, what's that you say? Mario and luigi were in yoshis island? Yes, but in thier baby forms. But that's only if you want to get technical

BlackChrimson, you have one of the worst attitudes I have ever seen from a Smash Bros. player! (Tommy Der Meister is a close second lol)

If you can't get past your mental barrier, you will have a hard time getting better. And if you're going to main Sonic (or any character), you must be prepared to lose a lot to see improvement. You're going to be a scrub for awhile, so enjoy the ride and you will see results in time.

As a Peach main, I have lost many, many times and because of it, I started to win more matches after learning from the mistakes I made, getting better at spacing, using more mindgames, and ultimately just being comfortable using my character.

@ black crimson, we were all scrubs at this game once. best example would be chris(aka darklink). he was hella scruby. then all of a sudden, got sooooooooo much better. it takes time and practice. learn from your losses and mistakes.
