well anyways
that video looked pretty good
its nice to know some of zelda's moves come in handy
but i wonder
what do you all think of balance brawl?
i think zelda is kinda weird in it

I don't like Zelda in Balanced Brawl.

I feel like they said:

"LETS MAKE HER BE ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD DURING HER MOST UNSAFE MOVE. NEXT CHARACTER PLS"

That really does look kinda fun, I won't lie. But it looks similar to a horizontal love jump without losing the jump, or a Nayru's off platform. Still. That's the only thing they changed about Zelda in Balanced Brawl? How sad o.o

And omg, the only thing I LOVED about Brawl Minus was Pikachu's back air. RAPID SPIN/HELICOPTER BACK AIR ALL DAI <3

nah, they also made Ftilt to have much less ending lag, Din's won't make you go helpless.... what else??

it's been too long since I last played it, so I don't remember what else... I hope they fixed her grab either to be active on frame 6 - 8 and/or having less ending lag

I used to be a balanced brawl enthusiast until they totally lost sight of their original goal.

I even helped out with the testing and stuff.

I tried telling them for ages the things Zelda needed changed but they were like
"LOL SLIDING NAYRUS, SHES ALL GOOD NOW".

I recommended a Din's Fire that was actually good, smash attacks actually working, a slightly faster grab and less lag on all of her specials.

Well, even being the huge Nayru's fan that I am, I can see that they needed something a bit more than just a sliding Nayru's. Though, you guys did say her f-tilt is faster, and no free fall after Din's, which is nice.

Zelda could spam several Din's as she drifts down the the stage; like a legit range attack! That would be useful.
i admit i would play BBrawl just to nayru's slide all over the place lol. that looks like so much fun. and the recovery help of keeping your jump by just Nayru's +Dins back to the stage like Fuu did in that video lol

Pretty much you can control Din's a LOT more meaning it can curve at greater angles than in regular Brawl. Also, the fireballs don't explode when you let them go. Instead, the fireball stops and becomes a "hazard". The hitboxes last a very long time and I think you get to have about 3 Din's Fire active at any time. I think because Din's is out longer than in Brawl, the damage, hitbox, and knockback increase to insane levels. Like in the vid below, the guy takes 19% and died at 124% on stage.

Oh yeah, this guy named Ryoko is apparently the 3rd best Zelda in the world as heard at 0:30 (also you can see Din's): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ebAaT9MKMo

I have a tournament set against Joker's Snake and a 5$ MM against Nicole's Zelda but theyre saved on Hylians Wii and he left b4 I could transfer them to my wii TBH

I'll have to get them next tournament but I'll probably forget.

Edit: Also Idk how Riot lives having to deal w/ so many Snakes.

I have a ton of trouble vs Pika too. I don't know the MU well enough for a full critique but here's what I noticed:
Dtilt for a bit more damage before following up.
The lightning jots can be PSed but if you can avoid them it's better to do that; when Pika was jolting as he fell you stayed in the space he wanted you. You could rush under him or maybe jump the ground bouncing jolts and challenge Pika in the air with an LK.
Pika's speed makes him a royal pain in the *** and Zelda's slow :( . With that said you frequently fell into his preferred spacing/positioning. Pika is hard to chase and they like people to try so they can use their agility to zap and chain attacks vs the opponent and Zelda is an easy target for this. Pika controlled the game because you were trying to get him and he played to you using the direct approach. Pika's strong area is above and to the side (of you), under as you return down to the stage or dancing around beyond your reach; you want to not be there. Space to use Zelda's longer reach to your advantage without being interrupted.

I like to cancel thunder jolts with attacks with my characters who can. Unfortunately Zelda's weak in that tactic. I know her Dtilt, Fair, Bair will and probable a few other moves will so don't use a defensive option if you can connect with those.

I think you should use less U smash so it will be fresh to kill, since killing Pikachu can be kinda hard.
I would use more D tilt, it's a really good move imo.
There were a lot of times the Pikachu was open to be punished but you just rolled away or spot dodged instead, or used a smash attack OOS.

Would have all been really good for using D tilt.
It's a better way to keep her smashes safe so they can kill early.
Just my opinion though

But like Rizen said, I wouldn't attempt to chase Pikachu, he's way too fast for Zelda and she's just going to eat damage in the process.
Nice pivot grabs.

I love you all for the advice<3

Later this weekend, I'm going to take the time to really evaluate my Zelda. There are so many mistakes and habits that just aren't clear until you see it in a replay. It was a pools match btw.

I noticed certain things such as too much down smash, spotdodging, poor buffering, always jumping right away after being sent flying, poor reaction time/prediction/DI with Pika's up smash, too many grabs, and overall poor decision making. Lol at my reads they were all wrong!

And yes! I know and tell myself to use dtilt more but it just doesn't happen. I used to be really conservative with up smash, sometimes never even using it. I'm trying to find the "right amount" to use and I agree that I'm using it too early.

When I play Captain L, I play really scared. Because if it, my edgeguarding game is complete **** and I play poorly overall. Gotta get that confidence boost.

Johns but when I played Peach against him in bracket, the games are always very close... nothing like the disaster in those vids. I really wish I could translate that to Zelda :(

Yeahhh! alright well firstly don't accidentally transform =D And don't fall off the stage when jumping back and using din's. Also i notice some zeldas spotdodge > dsmash on reaction even when they're far away, so try to break that habit unless you're near or sure it will hit.

i like your jab > dtilt shenanigans. i wasn't quite sure why you were fullhopping and kicking as an approach though in some places. sometimes you gotta be more creative with zelda but i'd suggest maybe mixing in a few empty SHs here and there.

didn't ed mention if snake is camping you can pick up a nade and throw it back and THEN din's? That could be decent. I actually find campy snakes hard.

You gotta instant toss the grenade and send a Din's after it.

Best case scenario, both go and at least crush his shield health.

Worst case scenario, he's REALLY good with the grenade strip and you may take grenade damage.

All considering the other explosives are not nearby :awesome:

I agree with Kat on the Transform thing - it's best not to use that move, unless you actually plan to use Sheik. Even if you do, there are safer times to Transform - such as after knocking your opponent off stage, or by doing a Transform Jump after you get hit. That Snake could have charged a F-smash to punish your Transform ending lag.

Not bad at all for someone new to Zelda though. You had some technical stuff down with her, which is good. A bit too much spot dodging, but then again, I'm guilty of this too. Was this offline or online?
