No offence but a majority of the SBR users are high level players with an immense amount of experience and all around knowledge of the Brawl competitive scene as a whole. You on the other hand do not go to tournaments as frequently anymore, place equal to...lower..and sometimes 1-2 places higher than I do, (We are about even to be fair and unbiased) and I think your only truly strong character is Snake. If running a circuit is all you have to do to become a SBR, sign me up.

Also, how did OWM get into the back room? I always wondered that.

Running a circuit all you have to do? Do you have ANY idea how much time i put into that?
Also i like to think of myself as a rather educated member of the community unlike some people who cant pick an opinion on a topic and stick with it to save their life.
I consistently theory craft on how to improve tournaments, my focus is improving the community experience. The reason i got into brawl was due to Bachs videos which focused on the community. I'd like to get good but frankly my personal life does not permit me to do that.

Also OWM has been an intelligent member of the smash community for ages, and as i just read shminkle posted saying dazwa explaining OWM is in the broom for the same reason as i.

No but seriously , the prior week to a ECRC event is alot of work with the pre registration, i get flooded with questions and issues, and we are consistently getting feedback and working to make adjustments to improve the circuit and overall the community.

owm isnt in the sbr-brawl

atleast i dont think

p.s. i think solid jakes best character's are zss and kirby

that might be because i do bad against weird characters i never played

*gets 3 stocked by nacho's yoshi in friendlies
My snake is still probably better but im too lazy to actually try. Back when i was into brawl and placed well was when i took my adderall. I am perscribed it, i have taken it since i was about 9 but stopped taking it when i dropped out of college, i will be going back to college and going back on adderall. Call it drug abuse, but i say i have a handicap, because without it i space and get bored, wayy to easily.

>_> Poffy, you have a hard enough time running a single tournament, whereas Jake here runs entire circuits, a good 5+ tournaments, setting up a site, getting sponsors, advertising, having a good rep, making sure the tournaments run smoothly, and probably even more goes into what Jake and the rest of the ECRC people do. As nice as it would be for the SBR to be all high level players, the fact is they're not, and they need to address not only the game but the community itself.
I'm pretty sure everyone who attended LLHS II at my house thought it was a great tournament and had a great time. Also, people stole money from that tournament (nonetheless, me and from my house technically.) so I'm pretty sure I did a splendid job by taking responsibility and fulfilling my job as a host by contributing money to the pot out of my own pocket so Jman and Darc could get paid. I canceled my IV one because I could not attend and my first one was.....well my first lol and my third was a flop due to people going back to school. I havent hosted since because I'm moving out my house for next semester and getting my own place....I don't have time to take weekends off and I want to make money.

If you're going to factor in the ability to run tournaments properly and use that as a solid argument than I'm sure you also know about the Mages losing a good 1,000 dollars in a tournament as well? They all contributed to pay that sum and I honestly respect them in the utmost for doing so. That's incredible. I also love OBM. No homo. Hes a really nice guy. So how is he a better TO than me? I'm not saying I'm fantastic or amazing at it.....but how does he have more rep???? The ability to run tournaments has nothing to do with being allowed to discuss high level smash. In a sense, now Solid Jake is a factor in the decision to ban MK.

Back when i was into brawl
This.

If you're not into Brawl/not playing it anymore....than how are you going to be a consistent factor in major SBR decisions/discussions? That's my point.

*sigh* i suppose it was poorly worded. "Back when i was more actively competing" Hows that?
Im consistently reading up on new things, watching videos. My personal life prevents me from attending many tournaments due to working 50 hours a week every week for the past 3 months in order to fund my trip to japan , my gf being home, and other personal things.

You really like to create drama whenever possible dont you?
im obviously still in the brawl community to a large scale if im going out of my way to put not only ALOT of time into a circuit, but my own personal money as well. And no we have literally not made a dime running the circuit.
Topic over, good day.

Difference being i took adderall my whole life, i wouldnt be surprised if it made my mind somewhat dependent on it. I was diagnosed with ADD at a very young age.. so i dont know if i would call it drug abuse in my case considering i have a legit prescription after a brain wave diagnosis

i won most of the matches against him in friendlies as rob(months ago). same goes to nacho. though theyve both 3 stocked/beat my mk every game before. i managed to beat nacho in losers bracket this weekend as mk which makes me less scared to go mk against green ace.

i wasnt accusing you of drug abuse jake xp

I shouldn't be volunteering for giving up spaces in Milktea's car, but how close are you to Uconn?

She posted this
I'm going to Mass Madness this Sunday, even though my hair looks like a reverse mullet -_-;, but that's besides the point.

I wanted to know if anyone would like to meet up with me at Uconn and I can drive them to MM. I just don't want to drive there alone and back :(. They can just park their car there and we'll take mine :), unless someone else wants to drive.

Anyone?

Why?

I'm seeing that tonight at 10:10 with people. I've heard it has Mike Tyson in it? LOL.

I liked UP...but it was an epic fail compared to everything else Pixar made. Pixar has been getting so emo lately and basically losing their humorous touch IMO. I still <3 Pixar soooo much but thank god Toy Story III is coming out to uplift my spirit again. That movie is going to be so good. I thought the teaser trailer was even hilarious. Sigh at Ernest not being Slink :(

LOL

Some of the people in there do not deserve to be there but the same could be said about MODS. Some of the mods on this site do not do their job. I won't say names.

The Mages ran multiple NATIONAL level tournaments with 150+ people at some of them. Cat3 and VLS had representation from all over the US. Did LLHS have even close to that responsibility?

Cat3 was my first tournament XD
Things that happened there:
I saw Dazwa from behind wearing the Packers jersey and thought it was chillin.
ChuDat looked at me.
I saw Isai.
I heard Isai john.
I played Wes first round of loser's bracket.
I didn't talk to anyone.

Cat3 was probably one of my first 5 tournaments. I think I was at an MLG event before it.

I remember getting pissed cause I had to go against Cactuar in winners when he was in my crew.
Teaming with Kiwi who had a broken leg and was on pain killers.
Forward falcoing people.
Making a live version of WoZ's dancing animal sig.
Watching finals from the stands
KDJ vs Chu
Playing Milktea and being terribly intimidated by PC Chris cheering for her. (I glared at him and instantly felt bad about it)
Getting 17th at one of my first major tournaments. (Yeah I ****)
Lost to Thorn.

Cool story bro.

I'm sure Cat3 and VLS played a huge role in making Jake a SBR user. That still shows nothing about his knowledge about Brawl and his ability to make major game play decisions for the community like, deciding if MK should be banned for example. The Smash Back Room is mainly consisted of Brawl players now....not Melee so using cat3 and VLS as examples were pretty much epic fail. I think Mattdotzeb should be allowed into the SBR now as well. Matt ran MM 12 which had over 104 Brawl entrants and roughly 30 Melee entrants totaling 134 entrants and is probably the most consistent TO in the community and the state of Massachusetts. He doesn't play Brawl but Jake doesn't as much anymore. We have Smash Directors for a reason.

Well as a TO of a SUPER HUGE MAJOR tourny he is in the best position to view the trends of tournament play. As a normal tourny goer, I am interested in my own personal record and matches and the matches of my crewmates and friends. As a TO you are familiar with the whole scene in general.

You also, don't have to be really good at smash to be in the sbr. You just have to have a dedication and ability to contribute to the game. Magus hasn't really been active in the melee tournament scene in quite some time. He is good but not even close to the top players, yet an sbr without magus would hardly be a back room at all.

Point being, I feel that Jake's experience as a TO for a tournament the likes of which you have never experienced is a good reference for the backroom to have. (They make tourny rules back there you know.)
