i did very little programming when it wasn't required

but i always liked it when i did it

just make sure you enjoy PROGRAMMING, not "computers", because like i said, they're very different

and also, be glad you're not a "philosophy" major
*starts talking to DD/other people to test out random programming to discover if I like it*

Random stuff:

What made me get into competitive smash lol: 17) Lethal Weapon

Play in Bonus mode and use a wide variety of attacks. These include the five
aerial attacks, the three smashes (down, up, over), all special moves, and
nothing else. Just wait for time to run out.

Using this guide, reader Heihachi90 couldn't get this bonus on his/her first
try. After some dialogue between us, Heihachi eventually got it, using this
strategy (I've included it t help anyone else out with this problem):

"- I went to Hyrule Temple.
- I used Mario and had a human player of Bowser.
- It was a timed match of 2 minutes - not coin battle, stock, etc.
- All of my attacks connected with Bowser.
- I didn't dodge, taunt, or use any grabs.
- I used Mario's aerial moves; all of these are Jump + A, Forward + A,
Backward + A, Down + A, and Up + A.
- I did Mario's 3 smash attacks (Forward + A, Down + A, and Up + A).
- I did Mario's 4 special moves (B, Forward + B, Down + B, and Up + B).
- I made sure that Bowser (my non-moving character) did not give me any
damage.
- I made sure that Bowser was still alive at the end of the match.
- Now here's the tricky part: when the time runs out and it's a sudden death
match, use your smash Forward + A (as Mario) move to KO Bowser.

Stupid Diskun trophy taking forever to get and making me go on swf to ask and then I end up figuring it out on my own lol. Look how scrubby I sound. xD

Well, philosophy's useful in that it makes you a more mindful person. There are certain issues that everyone should think about at some point, and those that don't are much worse off in life.

Right, but you shouldn't pay $20,000-$100,000 doing so

edit: Pocky my brother in law majored in it. He wants to work at a children's camp or be a park ranger which is cool but the major's classes are absolute jokes

Wait, so now that we have our stupid majors. What are the best majors to get into? I know there's a good amount of them. Just name a few that you can think of.

Health, Engineering, i suck.

you need a degree to work at a children's camp?

my cousin is majoring in forestry, lol

i have no idea what it means or entails but that's apparently the lead-in to being a park ranger (in taiwan)

I'm pretty sure computer science has one of the top, if not THE top average starting salaries for undergraduates. It's also "flexible" to an extent; you can work in any field, but wherever you go, you'll start out doing the same thing

In reality, the only "good" major is something you enjoy. It's honestly not worth it to make twice as much money if you completely hate what you're doing

Yeah I agree, you can get the same stimulation from a book on philosophy as you can get from classes. So much less expensive.

@Marc: Electrical Engineering ftw.

wars not make one great
"It changed what I believe and what I think about everything. I majored in philosophy. Something about non sequiturs appealed to me. In philosophy, I started studying logic, and they were talking about cause and effect, and you start to realize, 'Hey, there is no cause and effect! There is no logic! There is no anything!' Then it gets real easy to write this stuff, because all you have to do is twist everything hard—you twist the punch line, you twist the non sequitur so hard away from the things that set it up, that it's easy . . . and it's thrilling."

There was also an interview he had on Charlie Rose where he went in depth on how he applied what he learned from his philosophy classes to his comedy acts.

Just sayin'

edit- I despise philosophy classes just as much as the rest of you. It's just some people have been successful from what they learned from the major.

xD major in drinking... umm... I'm pretty sure I can only do that once in a while otherwise I die from liver damage etc etc. Honestly though, it's so much more fun to watch someone get drunk than to be drunk. You don't have to pay anything either. I'll major in being a DD. LOL

Cog, lol thanks. I'm not even in the actual rl yet. T_T

Cog- Hooray for chicken/fish... even though you're a vegetarian. >_> My household doesn't have like any red meat since my dad had a heart attack. It's been all about the skinless chicken/fish/pastas mmmmm.

if you don't know what you want, maybe you should just go be a waiter or something
>_> Honestly, I just need to try out things and put in effort into trying a wide variety of job selections so I can figure out what I want to do. I don't want to be living my life working at some pizza shop making $8/hr (for anyone that does I'm just saying that's not what I want out of life). I think I might be looking at an apprentice job(not paid) for plumbing this summer. :D Always handy to have a trade up your sleeve.

Edit: V, teach me the ways. I can't drink too often. I just find it disgusting when you get into the whole get drunk every day thing. Like over spring weekend, Day 1 was nice, but Day 2 I didn't really want to drink I only did it because I'm not going to do it again for a few weeks and it was with Pipe. Yeah, that guy is awesome.

That's good about the meat :)

Dude plumbers get paid mad money. Also it's actually a great skill to have. I spent a summer doing it in college.

Cort, you're doing a terrible job trolling. I'd say right now you're just lurking in your own thread lol.

Cog- Yeah so I hear. I like working with my hands and it'd be great to not just be ordered around and know what the **** I'm doing. Plumbing is one of the most expensive expenses (lol) in a home so that'd be awesome if I could just do it myself.

Pocky- I didn't really enjoy anything because I literally slept all day in my classes so high school was a waste of my time with a good experience but I somehow managed to maintain a 3.48 gpa lol. Umm, thinking about it I actually did enjoy Intro to Computers... particuarly web designing. The idea of java was pretty neat, but it was pretty tough doing something I had no idea what I was doing when the teacher gave me a 30 page packet and told me to learn... then proceeded to tell me that I had to make 10 programs in 2 days lol. Umm, usually the classes I ended up liking were moreso liking my teachers than anything so I don't feel I can really give due credit to the subjects themselves. I hated the teacher in Intro to Comp, but I mostly enjoyed the material. I'm going to have to think on if I really enjoyed the material or the teachers instead for what particular classes I liked.

Edit: Omg ROFL Cort is the best I love him <3333 I just got ***** from my previous comment.

I want to expect better of you, but I know not to
Jesus Christ I missed a lot, catching up now...

In the meantime Spawn...

sorry for the delay, had a big meeting.

I hadn't touched comp sci until High School, and at my Quaker School, the most we had was a super watered down QBasic and Visual Basic focused comp sci class that was brand spanking new my Junior year. Despite the class being obscenely easy, I liked the general structure of coding and everything that goes into making your code work. When it came time to look at colleges, I decided that I didn't really want to just be a math major despite math being my passion and location of the majority of my academic prowess. For some reason I associated the skills required for computer science with math skills, and saw computer science as something that excited me and was marketable and took advantage of my math skills. So yea, I applied to 6 schools, pretty much all tech focused schools, miraculously got into Carnegie Melon's School of Computer Science despite my lack of relevant knowledge in the field and the rest is history.

So to answer whether you should try to do CS or not, well... you need to like the general feel of having everything crash and burn and not work for a really long time before that final moment when it all clicks and works. from my experience, if you don't live for that and instead need to see constant progress to feel good about your work, CS will not be for you. Maybe give an intro CS class more of a chance and see what you really think about it before really deciding on it.

Yeah, I wouldn't be so stupid as to just instantly rush into it just based on these, although helpful, responses. Today, I was just getting it out there that I am in a rut of, "wutz doz i dooos" (which I know is normal just wanted to get it out there). All of this has been extremely beneficial for me, so thanks for the feedback everyone.

Also, I do like the built up failure to finally complete something. For something to take me that long to complete and finally get it done makes me feel bliss so to speak. I don't need a constant reminder that I'm doing good, although it still feels good. I actually prefer the built up failure to finally complete something. That's probably why I still play this game because I don't really feel I've improved greatly, but I know that if I ever get to be one of those "known players" I'll get that feeling... (lol this probably won't ever happen xD).

I'll major in being a DD. LOL
o_o? Did I miss something?

Oh...designated...driver....
v_v...

Also; I narrowed down all the work I've been assigned into 2 piles. Work I WILL do, and Work I WON'T do.

Oddly enough, the "WON'T DO" pile is much larger.
