Well, I disagree. If I were to go see a comedy right now the big one that's out is Role Models which I'm sure is just an overly vulgar piece of **** and vulgarity and nudity is definately not inner child material haha. I just think smart, clever and well performed comedies can be achieved because it's been done so why not still strive for that?

^^Nvm. Good movies make less $$$.

I tried to stay neutral for the political discussions people had here but if Obama supporters are stupid then what do you call your reasons for voting for McCain. :0)

I kinda wanted to see Role Models, but I really just refuse to support Sean William Scott in any way.

That's not my style of movie it looks horrible to me. Although, I'de much rather see that than something like Zack and Miri Make a Porno. That's just atrocious IMO.

I really do not need to read your posts anymore. I know everything you are going to say word for word now pretty much.
Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?

You know what's particularly sad is that when you first posted as Nygma there was a certain extremeness in your statements that blatantly disregarded any form of decorum and were astoundingly glib. Once I saw the November '08 join date I knew it was you under another account before you even told us.

You can call me Riddler.
Sacha Baron Cohen is a very funny dude, but his characters are at their best in 5-10 minute intervals. More than 5 minutes of Borat is too much, which is why the movie fell flat but the character was rather amazing in Da Ali G Show.
I agree. I have/had the Ali G show on DVD. I liked it. I just thought Borat was stupid.

To put it simply without getting into a huge discussion I think that Obama looked "too good to be true" and simply promised too much to our country. He also had no political background and I believe we're not ready for a black president as a country and I think he will be assassinated within months. We are already dealing with so much **** as an economy right now I don't think we need to deal with another JFK scene.

I liked napolean dynamite but everything after that tried to have that swag failed :(
Monster House he had a small role and it was actually pretty funny...but thats about it. He just kept playing the Napoleon role in every one of his movies and it was an epic failure.

He is too good to be true and so is McCain. They're politicians so they lie. How else do you expect anyone to win an election?

It's already been noted that Garrett never responds to the posts that completely destroy all of his points, right?

I miss Monty Python. They just eliminate the punchline and make the concept funny. Although there were a lot of "hit or miss" sketches, I like the concept of just having a hilarious premise rather than a normal situation lead to something funny.

Ministry of silly walks ftw.

I <3 ya Garret but never speak of politics again you don't know what you're talking about haha.

We're not ready for a black president? did you see how much he won by? a huge ****ing land slide LOL. He won states that haven't leaned republican in years.

The secret service are far more capable today then they were 40 years ago.

Also Obama was a congressmen for years before he was a senator and a senator 2 years before running for office.

He's an expert on constitutional law, has a degree in law, and political science in the are of internal affairs.

Uhh that's pretty qualified the only thing he lacks is experience but you don't exactly need a lot of experience to be a good leader just a strong head on your shoulders.

Please note I didn't vote for Obama, nor McCain. =)

Maybe once or twice.
What experience are you reffering to anyways? What exactly qualifies as experience for running a country other than running a country? Who has experience Sarah Palin? I'm done with politics I hate hearing/arguing about them but I do <3 Monty Python.

Yeah it's been going on forever now. I'm just saying that I don't think any "experience" is going to help that much when it comes down to it. His crudencials are there just like the other candidates so what makes him less qualified than anyone else?

PETA is the most ******** thing ever, any normal person doesn't give a **** about the rights of food, just how it tastes.
I'm a vegetarian mostly for ethical reasons. So yeah, **** you.

Oh water sucks it really sucks oh yes water sucks it really really sucks.

I suppose you think Billy Madison and Tommy Boy are bad movies too?

You and Cog need to realize that not everything is going to a breakthrough in film and be some incredible piece of art.

It's a COMEDY...its not supposed to have a good plot or really have any other purpose than to make you laugh. If you do not like Adam Sandler or Chris Farley

Die in a fire.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEoHz56jWGY&feature=related
Every single actor/actresss has the same formula in all their movies. It's all relative

Denzel-hes either a secret agent or some cop
Ferrell-his movies are all the same....i dont need to explain (aside from this one film he did...not stranger than fiction.)

im too lazy to list other people/think of them but every person has their same roles repeated over and over again to no end.

Regardless of if that is a good or a bad thing I honestly believe people from both sides of the movie fantatics (the die hard fim class/study it for a living people and the casuals) really both have horrible opinions.

The film addicts fail to see any real beauty in the just the bread and butter fun stuff. Everything to them is all serious and making a film that is not good, did not take much time to make, have no plot, etc is just a waste of time

while on the other hand

Typical movie bozos have no idea what "film" is and they just think that new age horror, and movies like Napoleon Dynamite are "Sooooo good!" "The funniest movie EVER" etc and in reality have no idea what they are talking about.

You can honestly catch me watching Phantom of The Opera, Anchorman, Clockwork Orange, Requiem For A Dream, The original Dracula with Bela Lagosi, Rosemarys Baby, and Burnt Offerings. I love movies and I believe that like music, each and every aspect of it has its own purpose.

(You just helped prove my point Thumbs. I'll stake my life on it that you despise most comedies beyond recognition. I'm sure Cog will throw in his 50 cents within a few minutes as well. You both see eye to eye with everything)
DID SOMEONE MENTION COG?
First of all, don't presume to know my thoughts or opinions. You are the one who is coming off as close-minded and judgmental by assuming anyone who has a remote interest in film is a snobby prick (same for anyone who simply disagrees with you).

It seems to me that thumbs was simply stating his PERSONAL PREFERENCE when it comes to comedies, and you, McPoffyster, were attempting to turn that into him having an ivory tower, elitist, film school attitude. Which is more of your usually SWF dumbness.
As for myself... I am liking a lot of comedies these days, mainly due to a man named Judd Apatow. I've been a big fan of his for a while now, starting with Freaks & Geeks. I'm happy mainstream comedies are moving in that direction, rather than the Ben Stiller/Vince Vaughn direction.

I really wish I could ignore your posts.

LOL you could get me talking about *anything* and then ten minutes later get me talking about it again. I forgot we had this conversation.

How about Comics. Have we talked about comics??

MARVEL > all.

Captain America! ZOMBIES! Deadpool!
I've been wanting to get into Cap since I recently got into Brubaker's Daredevil and it's great. I'm not the biggest fan of Marvel at the moment, though. They royally cocked up Runaways which was one of my favorite books under BKV. The only Marvel books I really read now are USM, DD and Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane (ahem). Oh and The Stand comic is really good so far.
I've gotten really into the Hellboy universe and now pretty much devour any and all Hellboy/BPRD books.
Also 2 of my favorite books at the moment are The Walking Dead and Wasteland which you should read if you don't.

I laughed so hard when I read this section.

Btw I am also a big fan of Judd Apatow. He's been making some very funny movies for a while now.

Nana: Ken Hoang is on Survivor this season and that's a clip from it. Ken is an extremely old school smash pro and the first player to really dominate on a national level.

Dave: have you read World War Z? omg

thumbs: have you seen Freaks & Geeks or Undeclared?

Both those shows aired when I was a lot younger, probably too young to appreciate either. But I did see a few episodes of Undeclared back in the day and I liked them. Is it worth checking out both shows on dvd (if they are on dvd)?

YES. just yes.

It's amazing, but I think we already talked about this.

In the audiobook version, T. Sean Collins (the mercenary/bodyguard guy) is voiced by HENRY FUCKING ROLLINS.
I hear the audiobook is great. And yeah I do think we've talked about this before... so I'll ask instead if you've read any of The Walking Dead?

mogwai it's ok you're just stupid lol... but yeah I dunno?

The only audiobook I've listened to in the last like decade was I am Legend, which was spectacular. Whoever voiced that is a genius. I listened to it all during several long trips to smashfests with my friend about 6 months ago. It was actually scary, sooooooooo good.

edit- I saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall in theaters, and it was god**** hilarious. Also, Paul Rudd is awesome.

McPofster, please stop assuming your way of thinking is the only way. You've argued that opinions are opinions and you shouldn't be attacked for them, so don't attack other people for theirs, please.

As far as the subject of comedies go, lots of the ones lately have been bad movies. They may be funny, but that doesn't change the fact that they're not good movies. Of course, the argument that they're comedies and are meant to be funny and not art is somewhat viable, but... it's a comedy movie.

Dark Horse > all
They have Star Wars
Old school Image = 2 gud.
ah hell, all comic books > japan
