Buddy Submissions:
Name:Hero
Origin: There is no Game: Wrong Dimension

Hero is the main ally in Chapters 3 and 4 in TinG:WD. When taunting, he slashes the sword of life

Name:Om Nom
Origin: Cut the Rope

Now this is a nostalgic choice. In Cut the Rope, the goal is to feed Om Nom a peppermint from a string(which you have to cut). He mainly just follows you and eats the peppermint(after all that hard work, he deserves it)

Goose moveset:

Neutral special:
Rake. The Goose grabs a rake, which can be pulled around for as long as you hold the special button. When released, the rake will sit there, but if an opponent steps on it, it will pop up and smack them in the face, Sideshow Bob-style, before disappearing. It also disappears after a certain amount of time, or if the Goose player presses the special button again.

Forward Special: Toy Cars. The Goose steps on to toy cars, using them like roller skates. They prove to be too fast for the Goose, and it hops off of them, letting them careen off of the stage. The cars do much more damage while the Goose is on them, though they still do a tiny amount of damage when they’re on their own.

Back Special: Pumpkin. The Goose nudges a pumpkin that's on its side, causing it to roll forward along the ground. If it falls off a ledge, it will break once it hits the ground.

Up Special: Special Delivery. The Goose gets into a box with balloons attached to it, and the balloons lift the Goose into the air for a short distance. This was taken from the Rivals of Aether workshop version of the character, but since the Goose is purely groundbound in UGG, I didn’t have many options for a recovery.

Down Special: Walkie-Talkies. The Goose places a Walkie-Talkie on the ground, with a maximum of two being placed at a time. Any Honk moves (some of the Goose's regular attacks) that are used near the Walkie-Talkie are amplified in the spot where you placed the other Walkie-Talkie, dealing significantly more knockback. Any player can pick up a Walkie-Talkie and move it around, like any item. (though for an opposing player, trying to throw the Goose’s Walkie-Talkie off-stage makes you very vulnerable to being honked at) Trying to summon a Walkie-Talkie while both are active causes a puff of smoke to appear in front of the Goose. If more than one Goose is in the match, the Walkie-Talkie effect can’t be chained, though any Goose can use any other Goose’s walkie-talkie.

Guard: "No Goose" Sign. A "No Goose" sign appears in front of the Goose, though the Goose just ignores it. It reflects a projectile attack or blocks a melee attack before collapsing, and if it's released before blocking an attack, the Goose nudges it, knocking it over and dealing a small amount of damage to whoever's in front of the Goose.

A Hat in Time Cards:

1. The Empress
2. C.A.W. Agents
3. White Seal Crew

Celeste Cards:

1. Bird
2. Vigilante Thief
3. Last of the Order

Not sure if I can include Towerfall characters as part of Celeste, but there aren't many options for Celeste characters as far as I can tell, and Towerfall is already incorporated into Madeline's moveset. If I can't include them, then I'll just submit the Bird.

Buddies:

Nugget (Super Meat Boy)

Nugget crawls/hops around, following the player. He's just a baby, so he can't do much. (why Meat Boy, or anyone else for that matter, would bring a baby into a fight is beyond me, but it's not the worst that he's been through)

Parade Owl (A Hat In Time)

Much like a mission in A Hat In Time, the Parade Owl will follow the player around, playing music as part of a two-person parade. Thankfully, unlike the mission in question, the Parade Owl will not hurt the player if they come into contact with the player character. (and for the sake of the player's ears, the Parade Owl's instrument will be mute, so you won't have to deal with 1-4 Parade Owls making a racket depending on how many people pick them as a buddy - they'd only make a sound if the player gets a KO or gets KO'd themselves)

  • My Springtrap moveset will be used.

Job 150: Submit super moves for Isaac and/or Cadence!
Submit three super moves for either/both characters.

Job 151: Submit music for City of Tears!
Select six songs from Hollow Knight to appear on its stage!

Job 152: Submit an item which could lead to more jobs!
Simply put, submit an item with an aspect that could provide more jobs in the future. It doesn't have to be super elaborate; It just has to have an element that could differ based on character/stage. If you aren't sure if your item meets this criteria, please let me know!

Submissions close tomorrow afternoon!

Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention it in the job list, but I've been thinking about axing Stickers in return for making the existing ones cards (any cards from otherwise unrepresented franchises would be played in an "Others" category, which would get a job dedicated to it). Would people be cool with this?

Job 152: Mr. Glitch(There is No Game)

For the last companion card job I suggested Mr. Glitch, the main antagonist of There is No Game: Wrong Dimension. What I didn't tell you is that those status effects were based on how Mr. Glitch affects items of the dimension he is in. Use him against different things and he'll change them in a certain way

I'm not 100% sure if I'm following you here. Would Mr. Glitch affect items? Companion Cards? Different opponents get different effects?

Signature Item Box

An original concept. It takes the form of a purple box with a white question mark on it. It can be attacked and when it's broken, it drops the "signature item" of the character that broke it. These are unique items for every fighter that is both from their home game/series and isn't present in their regular moveset. For example, Anton's could be his hammer from Antonblast, allowing that game to be represented while still keeping his Antonball moveset. Characters can pick up other character's signature items but they will do their effects slightly less. (Such as less damage, less healing, etc.) I know this isn't from an existing game so I'm open to suggestions for what it could be.

Isaac Super Moves:

1. Guppy. Isaac (or whichever costume you're playing as) turns into Guppy, allowing him to temporarily fly around. When using his basic attack (his tears), a blue fly will spawn roughly 50% of the time that one of his tear attacks connects and move towards that enemy at a fairly slow pace.

2. The High Priestess. Isaac holds up a Tarot Card, and Mom's giant disembodied leg falls from the sky, aiming for whichever opponent is closest to Isaac. Where she's going to land is marked by a shadow.

3. Crack the Sky. Isaac is surrounded by white light as beams fall from the sky, hitting the ground in random spots. The beams are fast and do large amounts of damage, but can't be controlled.

  • Megadoomer Megadoomer 's Isaac supers will be used.
  • Cadence had no submissions, so we will be repeating that job today.
  • Infinity Sorcerer Infinity Sorcerer 's music list for City of Tears will be used.
  • Please vote on items here.
  • The Stickers will be axed, with all characters from otherwise unrepresented franchises being made into cards. Expect a "Others" card job in the future!
  • Finally, with only ten base game fighters and four base game stages left to complete, I would like to announce that our DLC period will begin as soon as both are complete! I won't spoil too much, but I'm hoping the way I'm planning on tackling DLC will lead to interesting submissions. Please stay tuned!

Job 151: Goose alternate colours

The first palette is the Goose's default, and the rest resemble other types of geese which are shown here and here.

-Goose
-Canadian Goose (brown with black head)
-African Goose (blueish-gray)
-Pomeranian (white with brown spots and a brown head)
-Chinese Goose (yellowish-brown with a dark brown head, wings, and chest markings)
-Toulouse (looks like a giant pigeon)
-Orinoco Goose (orange and black)
-Crown and Bow (it's the same as the default goose, but with a crown on its head and a bow around its neck)

Job 152: Profile Pictures

octodad icon.png

1. Octodad (Octodad: Dadliest Catch)

trapper icon.png

2. The Trapper (Dead By Daylight)

meat boy icon.png

3. Meat Boy (Super Meat Boy)

Quote icon.png

4. Quote (Cave Story)

Balrog icon.png

5. Balrog (Cave Story)

I might add more icons later. (I'm thinking about doing more for Shantae and Cave Story, though I'll have to wait until after work)

I'll see what I can come up with for Cadence's super moves, though that might take some time.

Job 153: Submit animations for Isaac and/or Cadence!
Submit an entrance animation, three taunts, and/or three victory animations for either/both characters.

Job 154: Submit signature items for the first half of the roster!
Today, we will be looking for signature items for the following characters:
  • Shovel Knight
  • Orcane
  • Frisk
  • Cuphead
  • Quote
  • Shantae
  • Anton
  • Peacock
  • Madeline
  • Hat Kid
  • Meat Boy
  • Fireboy & Watergirl
  • Peppino
Please submit an item that is themed to one of the above characters (preferably, these should be something from their games, but if push comes to shove, original ideas will also be accepted). Be sure to describe what the item actually does; There's no strict guidelines for what effect an item could have (it could be a weapon, stat booster, etc.), but it should be something that can be nerfed in an event that a character picks up a signature item which does not belong to them. For more information on how this works, please see the original submission:

Isaac Animations
  • Entrance
    • Isaac crawls out of a trapdoor.
  • Taunts
    • Up: Isaac looks around as a familiar flies around him.
    • Side: Isaac gives the camera a thumbs-up.
    • Down: Isaac begins crying before quickly composing himself.
  • Victories
    • Isaac looks around cautiously before hopping into a trapdoor, which closes behind him.
    • Isaac hops around happily.
    • Isaac sits down, but instead of looking scared or crying, he actually looks happy for a change.
Signature Items
  • Shovel Knight: Throwing Anchor
    • Shovel Knight can throw this item - It doesn't cover much ground and has a fairly low arc, but if it hits you, it's gonna hurt! It can also be thrown off-stage to spike airborne opponents, but that'll also sacrifice the anchor in the process.
    • When other fighters pick up the item, their mobility will be hindered - Think of it like a fighter carrying crates in Smash.
  • Frisk: Real Knife
    • When the Real Knife is picked up by Frisk, their smash/strong attacks have a chance to crit. It can be used up to twenty times before "breaking".
    • When an opponent picks up the Real Knife, they can only slash it ten times. In addition, the chances of critting with it are significantly reduced.
  • Cuphead: Invincibility Chalice
    • By drinking this magical drink, Cuphead becomes invincible for a short time, indicated by a golden aura.
    • Opponents can drink from the chalice too, but their invincibility period is much shorter than Cuphead's.
  • Anton: Anton's Hammer
    • Anton's smash/strong attacks are replaced with hammer swings, giving them more reach and power for a certain number of attacks. (As an added bonus, if the player picking it up is playing as Annie, the hammer is replaced with a mace, albiet with identical properties to the hammer.)
    • Opponents who pick up the hammer can use it less times than Anton can.
  • Peacock: George at the Air Show
    • By picking up this little plane with George inside, Peacock can throw it forwards as a long-range explosive projectile.
    • If an opponent picks up the plane, though, George's fuse will begin to burn. They can still use the plane as normal, but they better be quick about it lest they take damage instead.
  • Hat Kid: Sprint Hat
    • By picking up this hat, Hat Kid will equip it, temporarily boosting her speed and jump height.
    • Opponents can also pick up the hat, but will have the mobility boosts for less time than Hat Kid would.
  • Peppino: Bomb
    • By picking up this bomb, its fuse alights as Peppino panics. While in this state, Peppino can only dash and jump, but once the bomb eventually goes off, its explosion is quite powerful!
    • Opponents who pick up the bomb have less time to move around before it explodes, and the explosion itself isn't as strong.

  • Orcane: Orcane Plush
    • When Orcane has the Orcane Plush, He'll glow a golden hue that makes his attacks more effective
    • Opponents will have the hue with less effective attacks than Orcane
  • Madeline: Flying Strawberry
    • When Madeline has the strawberry she becomes faster in her air and have less landing lag
    • Opponents will have landing lag if they eat it

    • When Quote has the Arms Barrier,he'll take half the damage he would normally take from attacks

  • Shantae: Heart Holders
    • Heart Holders will heal every 3 seconds for Shantae and every 5 seconds for the opponents
  • Meat Boy: Cube of Meat
    • The Cube of Meat will increase defense by 50% for Meat Boy and 25% for the opponents
  • Fireboy and Watergirl: Doorways
    • Doorways will make Fireboy and Watergirl teleport further from the opponent while there is a 10% chance that it won't work for opponents and if it does work it won't be as far

I don't think you get it. When someone else picks these up, they get less of a positive effect, not a negative effect.

Yeah, this. Flying Strawberry works since it’s implied that the opponent still gets the air speed boost, but ultimately, signature items should still be a good thing even if you get one which doesn’t belong to your character.

Signature items:

Anton: Anton's Hammer (but by Baysha this time) - When Anton is holding this item his down air changes into his aerial hammer attack from Antonblast. He swings his hammer around his body. Opponents hit by the bottom of the attack are spiked and Anton bounces slightly higher than his double jump when he hits the ground for the first time. When other characters grab this item they do slightly less damage, and lose the spiking and bouncing.

Fireboy and Watergirl: Push Box - Takes the form of one of the pushable boxes from Fireboy and Watergirl in the Forest Temple. Can be pushed and attacks can be used to send it flying and crush opponents. It cannot be attacked when in the air. When attacked by Fireboy it will be launched slightly less far, but will have a fire effect that hurts any opponents who touch it. When attacked by Watergirl it will be launched farther but can only hurt opponents if it crushes them. Opponents hitting the box will have the launch length of Fireboy but without the fire effect. (even if they use a fire-based attack)

Springtrap Supers
  1. Remant - Springtrap injects himself with some remant, causing him to recover health over time.
  2. It Burns! - Springtrap chuckles as the stage erupts into flames, damaging grounded opponents and giving Springtrap additional attack power.
  3. Possession - Transforming into a glitched-out Glitchtrap, Springtrap rushes forwards to hit one opponent. An 8-bit cinematic plays out with the opponent being chased by a large, purple rabbit monster from FNaF VR's Princess Quest. The monster eventually engulfs the opponent, dealing massive damage and returning them to the stage in a dazed state as Springtrap returns to normal (or instantly KO's them if they were above 100%).

I was going to submit a song list for Owl Express, but FazDude's covered the ones that I would have submitted, I think.

Goose Supers:

1. Have a Picnic: a picnic blanket falls in front of the Goose, as long as there's enough space. A bunch of food items fall onto the blanket, which can be eaten by anyone to regain health.

2. Be Awarded Flowers: the Goose spreads its wings and honks, and flowers rain from the sky, making it harder to see the stage. Energized by this praise, the Goose's speed and jump height increases while flowers are falling.

3. Steal the Beautiful Miniature Gold Bell: the Goose finds the miniature gold bell and picks it up, causing a stampede as villagers chase after it. A group of seven villagers from Untitled Goose Game (the groundskeeper, the boy, the shopkeeper, the tidy neighbour, the messy neighbour, the burly man, and the publician) chase after the Goose, trying to get it back. The Goose will be constantly running while this super is active, and the opponents can be damaged either by the soundwaves that the bell makes as the bell clangs or by the crowd of people chasing after the Goose. (if the Goose is touched by the mob, it hops further ahead to get away from them)

Meat Boy cards:

1. Potato Boy
2. Gish
3. Squirrel

Job 158: Submit movesets for Terrarian and/or Dust!

We're in the home stretch with base game fighters! For today, please submit a moveset (Neutral/Forward/Back/Up/Down/Guard Specials) for either or both characters.

(At the rate I'm planning to go with fighters from here on out, I suspect our DLC period will begin some time next week.)

Job 159: Submit up to two Companion Cards!
Submit up to two Companion Cards - No preresiquites here, so do whatever you want!

Discussion: Is there any other element that we could touch up on?
Simply put, is there any aspect of platfighters that we have yet to cover as part of a job? As we near the end of the base game content, I want to make sure we can go as in-depth as reasonably possible.

This isn't a request for new stages/modes/etc., though; I'm talking about things that you'd find in an average platfighter which we've yet to do anything with here.

Submissions close tomorrow afternoon!

Resubmitting 2 companion cards from Newgrounds.
Job 35:
Alien Hominid (Alien Hominid)

1655139676456.png

Alien Hominid is a yellow titular Alien, who crashed on Earth in USA and his ship was stolen by FBI agents and he needed to return his ship from agents.
He was made by independent studio Behemoth, who are creators of 2008 game Castle Crashers.
His game has run 'n' gun gameplay, where you need to kill agents who try to attack him.

When summoned, he would run and jump around the stage and shoot at opponents with his ray gun. When he's close to opponent, he bites the head-off and reverses the Fighter's controls due to lack of heads for 3 seconds.
He can be KOed.
He would use his Classic design opposing to modern one from New Alien Hominid game.

I know some of you would argue that he would be a cool fighter, but I don't see him as Fighter, because he only runs, jumps, bites and shoots at enemies.
Also, he would be cool Newgrounds Assist Character, since he would be first to be a NG Assist.
Also, The Behemoth announced a new Alien Hominid game, which it would spice his inclusion as Assist.
I have nothing rn for job 14 and 15.

Job 16:
Boyfriend & GF (FNF)

View attachment 347629View attachment 347630
Boyfriend is the main protagonist of 2020 Newgrounds game Friday Night Funkin'. He is on a mission to gain approval to date his girlfriend, but must sing off against her evil ex-rockstar father, Daddy Dearest, as well as the many other characters that stand in his way.

When summoned, he appears along with his Girlfriend and he raps with arrows that cause opponents to do uncontrollable taunts, which it makes them unable to attack during the time when BF is summoned.
(You know, BF also raps for GF while being an Assist character)

I don't think we could see him as fighter, but I think he could fit as an Assist character for Allstar Strife. Also, I nominate him, because his game is popular right now and it needs to be represented in Allstar Strife as assist at least...

Question: Are all the fighters unlockable from the beginning? If not maybe we can do unlockable critera for the fighters or maybe the specifics of each characters classic mode.

I'd be down for one or two jobs determining what characters should be unlockables + how to unlock them. Will probably just be a quick StrawPoll vote for the former.

As for classic mode, it was already established that Classic Modes consist of entirely random fights ala Smash 3DS. Good ideas, though!

I know but in your Classic Mode Idea you said that "the mode concludes with a boss battle, with the boss being set-in-stone depending on who the player's character is". So maybe we could do that as a single job.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that! That's on me - Sorry for the inaccuracy. Sure, we could have a boss-centric job for that!

I lack the confidence to tackle a Terrarian/Dust moveset, but as for Companion Cards...

Assist 1: Resubmission of Burrito Bison
Job 119: Burrito Bison

This powerful wrestler on a quest to retrive his wallet from Candy Land would be a great assist; Upon being summoned, he'd leap about the stage, body slamming opponents and tossing them around. It'd be utter chaos... but it'd be beautiful chaos. You're welcome to KO him if you can manage that, but good luck trying.
Assist 2: Eye of Cthulhu (Terraria)

Any seasoned Terraria player needs no introduction to these eldritch creatures, but for the unaware, the Eye of Cthulhu is a pre-Hardmode boss who is usually found rather early in the game. Although it's a rather simple enemy, especially compared to some of Terraria's later bosses, it's sure to give new players a fright.

As a Companion Card, the Eye would float around the stage (being able to pass through platforms) and attempt to ram into opponents. After reaching about half its HP, it grows a toothy mouth and becomes much more aggressive. Either way, it will vanish after sticking around for a while or being KO'd.
