Hey guys, I just wanted to let you all know that due to a recent family emergency, I won't be able to live in Columbia over the summer, and will be moving back to KC probably by tuesday or wednesday of next week, and my return to mizzou for the fall '11 semester is questionable.

My little sister loves rodeos. She loves them so much, that she wanted to be apart of them, and had actually been training for the past 3 months to be a bull fighter. A bull fighter's job is to stand in the ring, and after the cowboy has been bucked off the bull, the bull fighter distracts the bull so the cowboy can get to safety. Well this past weekend, she was working as a bull fighter at a rodeo, and was hit by a bull. She was tossed up, and landed on her neck, and was life flighted to Children's Mercy in KC. She damaged her T2-T7 vertebrae, and completely shattered her T4. That's the section basically right in between your shoulder blades. She is paralyzed from her chest down, and from the looks of things, will be like that for the rest of her life. I'm moving home to help with our pets while my parents are at the hospital/working, and when she comes home, I'll need to be there to help her while my parents are at work.

If I'm not able to be at smash this thursday because of finals, I just want to let everyone know that I have really enjoyed playing with you all, and hopefully I can come visit over the summer.

Holy crap this is absolutely terrible. You never said how old she was but you mentioned Childrens Mercy which means she must be young. Much too young to have this happen to her.

Listen, this is one of those things you hear about when the doctor says she'll never walk again, but she does! Try to be strong and optimistic for her and believe she can walk again.

I've never met you but I wish your family the best of luck getting through this and I hope that she's ok.

I have no idea what to even say to this. This is just horrible, horrible news. CJ, it was amazing to smash with you the few times I was able to, but you definitely have more important things to worry about now. There is no question about that. I will pray for your sister and your family in these difficult times. But keep your head up and don't lose faith. Like Ziv said, she may someday walk again! Stay strong man my prayers are with you.

Thanks guys, that means a lot. She is almost 17, and goes into surgery early morning tomorrow. If things calm down over the summer, and she adjusts to homelife well, then I may get in touch with the KC area smashers and play with them occasionally.

On a much less serious note, I've decided to switch my main from shiek to IC's solely because ultra moonwalking with nana looks hilarious.

You guys need to add Jaws to the first page player profiles. He's pretty cool. Can't wait to play him next month when he's 10x better.
Yeah us CoMo kids are notorious for getting better in a hurry.

daaaang I forgot to make sure and play you yesterday akuma, I really wanted to! Next time ><
I know!!! I really wanted to play you again. Don't worry, we'll get plenty of games in eventually.

Oh ****, I just realized I don't have a Wii or a Cube anymore. Dangit.

Hey, also: I'm in desperate need of a good training partner for SSFIV Arcade Edition. It comes out June 7th. I'm willing to teach anyone everything I know, which should get you up to low-tournament-level play. I also have 2 sticks, so you wouldn't need to buy anything. So if any of you guys are interested in Street Fighter... get u sum. Also, getting better at Street Fighter also improves your Melee game. It's a fact.

I lol'd.
Despite the KC crew also playing a lot of SSF4, the only thing it seems to do for our melee game is slow down our bracket. :awesome:
I'm serious! Developing skill in other fighters really helps, especially in fundamentals like spacing, mix-ups, etc. I played nothing but SSFIV for two months and didn't touch melee at all, went to a few SSFIV/Blazblue tournaments, came back, and still showed huge improvement in my melee game.

can i be akuma?
Yeah, I know some Akuma stuff from watching some of my SSFIV teammates try to learn him. He's hard to play, though. He's got really low health, and his advanced stuff is pretty technical.

Wooo, update: Austin, Isaac, and I are all spending next week in Columbia, and we're definitely going to be smashing pretty much constantly with some Street Fighter thrown in for good measure. Any chance you'll be down in CoMo Ryan?

D*****. I wish I had seen this sooner. Just got out of the hospital Sunday. Heading back there again today...

Editted OP:
1.) Added Jaws and Saffy to the list (please everyone give them a warm welcome). I will be teaching Saffy Melee as much as I can when available. I have a super busy/tight schedule, so if anyone can help her out/give her tips, I'm sure she would be extremely grateful. I'll be using like 90% of the sh** Sinister taught me with to teach Saffy. So a big thanks goes to Sinister for his contribution to the CoMO smash scene.

2.) Added "weekly/biweekly/monthly events" to the post. Someone mentioned to me that there were small smashfests being held around the area for free and that I needed to list them. They are up, so feel free to poke around.

3.) Toaster stays as Toaster.

4.) Someone inform me of WTH St. Louis does for smash. I'm a bit confused on when they do their thing. There was also supposed to be a Mini Hot ****ings in StL again. Dunno if that's in August or not. Heck it might not even be happening, but I heard it from someone at the HD Mini Series they held at that mall. I'll try to contact Rauleen and ask her.
