oldboy is a ****ing masterpiece
korean movies are the ****
my korean crash course was the following:
Memories of Murder (think Zodiac, but more accessible and Korean)
3-Iron (a beautiful, quiet movie about a guy who breaks into people houses and what happens when one isn't empty like he thinks)
Oldboy (a dark, twisted thriller about revenge and how the past can haunt us)
The Host (while Super 8 is getting lots of praise this summer, I kinda feel like the Host is a similar and better monster flick. except it's about a family and not little kids making a movie. and korean.)
I Saw The Devil (another very twisted thriller. a man sets out to seek revenge, and then does so. very graphically. it's borderline torture porn type stuff at some points, but it's gorgeous and there's enough humanity to make it worth while)
there's a lot of good korean genre stuff i've seen, i haven't delved into their standard dramas or comedies yet. i want to learn korean. someone tell me how hard it is to do.
