I'm confused on the difference between 1sts and 2nds. =/

I think I explained this already when Tee ay eye asked this but, I'll repost it.

Basically, 1sts are called 1sts based on whether you can switch to them or not.
You can switch to a 2nd from a 1st but you can't switch to a 1st from a 2nd.
Hence naming them 1sts and 2nds; the 1st portrait you would switch to would be one of the 3 characters because you can always switch to a 2nd afterward.

i figured out why this works right after i heard about it awhile back, basicly characters have 4,5,6 colors

when you do this with the same character, or other characters with the same color it just changes your color, but if you use a char with 4 colors and do it and go to a character with 6 colors and go to the last color of his then exit out

when you start again you character will be on their 6th color (which they dont have), if you go down again and your character has 4 colors, it will be another character exe. fox -> highlight light blue falcon -> button reset -> (fox = light blue falcon) -> press y i think -> (fox = purple donkey kong or something)

this is the general idea, its not a random thing that some characters work and some dont

But, then how does that explain why some characters can only switch to specific characters rather than to any character that has an extra costume?

Like, if I do this with Falco, why can Falco only change to Yoshi and Zelda? Why wouldn't Falco be able to change to Kirby or C.Falcon?

the characters they turn into are because of some other patern, im just talking about who can change colors

i stopped messing with this glitch a long time ago, i guess i can mess with it more to tell you how the characters portrait is determined because i forget, i havent played in a week, let alone mess with random glitches =)

lol i figured it out right away when i first saw the glitch

no problem i can play tonight, and ill refind the character pattern

Anyway, voorhese, did you ever find the pattern for why characters change to the ones they do? Because I found a pretty legit pattern that explains almost everything:
List the non-clone characters alphabetically, then list the clone characters. So:
Captain Falcon
Donkey Kong
Fox
Game and Watch
Kirby
Koopa
Link
Luigi
Mario
Marth
Mewtwo
Ness
Peach
Pikachu
Poponana
Samus
Yoshi
Zelda
Clink
Doc
Emblem
Falco
Ganon
Pichu

In this order, everyone between CF and Kirby has CF for their first, everyone between Kirby and Yoshi has Kirby as their first, and everyone past Yoshi has Yoshi as their first. Also, counting backwards, all the seconds line up (the closest person backwards with 5 costumes from Fox and Game and Watch is DK, so they have DK, etc). However, I can't find an order that makes since for Falco's second (Zelda) and Pichu's second (Roy, listed as Emblem in debug mode). Anyone have any ideas?

interesting, i actually forgot to look for the pattern XD, but it was similar to this, i dont remember exactly how it is, but after i found the actual color pattern thing i looked for this to but that was a long time ago

It would have to be something like where Falco is first, and Pichu immediately follows Roy, but I can't find any system where putting them in that order makes sense.

How many games it takes to unlock them
Their order on the screen
Their order in tournament mode

yah i meant green dk, thats why i erased that part, but i was to lazy to change it, cuz i noticed ur post said something about it anyway =)

hm.......... how about comparing them to their uh..... clonee?

and find a pattern compared to them like falco turns into sheik, while fox turns into falco and on the character screen its diagonally down one from falcon -> sheik
or something like that
look in the places u said and see if u can notice a pattern from the characters (clone) new portrait and his clonee's? portrait

Well the only clones that this even applies to are Falco turning into Zelda and Pichu turning into Roy. Falco's clone turns into DK, who's directly above Zelda... but then Pichu's clone turns into Peach, who is nowhere near Roy. I'll keep looking though.

well i did have an idea of using the hand glitch and doing this glitch at the same time
so the hands alternate costume (it says he is sheik if you go to no contest)

and all it did is crash the game and i dont know why, isnt glitching fun?

lol, yah that also works for fox/falcon, and sheik/falco

the only problem is people will know what ur doing if u have done it b4, because why else would u highlight a character, and exit real fast?....

the answer is turn on rumble, so u have an excuse to lol XD
