Let's Geo-light up some discussion, shall we?

...

Honestly, this isn't an IP I can really lead any sort of discussion on, but I wanted to make that pun. So, what's the wild world of Meteos like, beyond it being a game Sakurai was involved with?
I'd be happy to:

Meteos is a sci-fi multiplayer Match-3 puzzle game, where you play as a planet fighting other planets.

You try to match falling blocks of the same color to make them lift off like rockets, pushing them to the top of the screen and launching them at other planets. The more blocks, the more power there is.

The Geolytes are the basic race of creatures you play as in the game, but there are loads others to play as, some of which have some gimmick or another.

So I've thought of how to replicate the Meteos-style gameplay:

One of his Specials would be to line up Steve-like blocks that, when matching, lift upwards and deal damage to anyone above it, but not if they're standing on any one of them, effectively turning it into a flying platform for some. Compared to Steve, this should be much easier to implement considering Meteos's gameplay is dependant on the gravity of the planet you're facing. So in some stages, blocks could have more airtime, while in others, they could fall faster.

I don’t really know a whole lot about Meteos but it could be fun to finally get an original puzzle game rep in Smash and the Geolytes look pretty cool. They kind of remind me of the tiny SSE enemies that spawned from portals.

Being a puzzle game, I imagine a Meteos stage would be really interesting. What do you envision the stage would play like in Smash?

The best possible option would have to be this:

This is the Metamo Ark, the ship that the Geolytes pilot in the Story Mode. This could work as some sort of "Corneria"-style stage where you fight on top of the ship.

Do you think any of the puzzle elements from the game would carry over to the Smash stage or would it be a more straight forward stage like Corneria?

The idea is that you'd be on top of the ship, but it'll occasionally stop and fire Meteos at a planet, which could serve as extra platforms.

Oooooh, that's a fun stage premise! Interesting way of representing a puzzle game in-universe while still getting some classic block platforms in.

Abstan. I have no idea about this series.

All noms to Ori...
BTW, where is all my nom to Ori?
Right where they should be, I think? Just added your latest batch in.

First things first, what is Horizon?

Nominations: Tsubasa Oribe x5
An open world game set in a post apocalyptic setting where machines based on prehistorical animals rule the Earth whilst humanity has gone back to living in tribal groups because military based robots gained self awareness and started feeding on living organisms as a source for fuel because the guy in charge insisted on on not having appropriate safety measures. Said guy also deleted all knowledge of the old world and killed everyone that knew about it.

As for Aloy herself, she's a hunter from the Nora tribe, albeit an outcast because she herself was raised by an outcast, until she completes a trial known as the Proving and is anointed a Seeker which sets her off on her journey. She's proficient in using a variety of bows, a spear, various gadgets and traps and a variety of machine based weaponry. With her bows she's able to use a variety of arrow types from regular arrows to fire, electric, ice arrows and special arrows that can strip away armour and turn enemies on each other. The spear is used like a basic spear though she can use it to hack machines. Her gadgets and traps include shock traps, explosive traps, a shotgun-esque weapon that destroys armour, a sling with which to use bombs, tripwires and the machine weaponry includes mine launchers, heavy machine guns, cannons and flamethrowers which deal devastating damage.

I bought Horizon on sale last year that came with the DLC and had a lot of fun with it. The game has a lot of similarities with Breath of the Wild so I’d recommend anyone who is a fan of that game to give it a try.

Aloy is a cool character with a ton of moveset potential and options for alternate outfits. One tricky thing is trying to figure out a good stage since the world is so massive. I think the safe bet is to go with the mountain near the start of the game. What other areas do you think could work well?

Definitely a lot of stage options. I agree that somewhere from the Embrace is probably the most logical choice - Aloy may not be entirely on-board with the Nora, but it is still the tribe she's associated with and is from - with the mountain you start on, the setting of The Proving, and the town of Mother's Heart all being possible locations... That said, maybe they don't want to be another open-world game represented by its starting area. Meridian is the big city you keep having to return to, so maybe there? Or you could always pick one of the Ruins of the Old Ones if you want a spooky atmosphere...

is it popular?
It's doing pretty well for itself. Selling over 10,000,000 units for a new IP isn't bad and its getting a sequel early next year, as well as having had a Fortnite collab earlier this year and having a Genshin Impact one later this year.

The arena towards the end of the game could be another cool option for a stage. I won’t go into spoilers but it has a very significant role in the story.

On the subject of the arena, who would you rather have as a boss or assist trophy: Helis or Hades? I think Helis would make for a cool assist trophy while Hades could make for an awesome boss fight. Sylens could work really well too but I’m biased towards Helis because he is voiced by Crispin Freeman.

I think having a stage based around an area where you encounter a Tallneck would be neat, that way you can have smaller machines cameo in the background and maybe act as hazards as well as have the Tallneck itself act as a moving platform, though they are very big so the stage might have to be a Gaur Plain sized one, which is fitting honestly.

The stage should display the ruins of the Old World and how nature's taken a lot of it over too, something like this maybe:

Tallneck looks like this btw:

That’s a great idea for a stage. The Tallnecks are very iconic and would let you get a great view of the world.

that does sound popular. I ask cause I seem to misjudge series popularity a lot

That could be fun, though I'm also not sure if it would look that different from the Coliseum in the game already, apart from having no dragon statues...

I think Sylens is the most relevant secondary character who would be the most-likely AT (fits him being a sort of assistance character in the game anyway). Petra Forgewoman with her fancy gun invention would be quite neat to see though... I enjoyed that weapon in the few scenes you use it.

Oooooh, that's really clever. A travelling stage with a lot of fancy settings would be a very good choice...

Does anyone have any ideas for a moveset they would like to share? I know Aloy has a ton of really interesting weapons that could lend itself well to a Smash moveset but I haven’t really sat down to flesh out any specifics for Aloy.
