I know I haven't participated in a while, but I'll throw whatever noms I may have to Laharl. That's a day I kinda have to participate in, given I run the Disgaea Support Thread.

What do you think the range should be on Biil’s guns? I personally feel like Mega Man’s buster cannon’s range is too short and it makes playing as him feel kind of awkward so I would hope his guns would have decently more range than that (with some balancing to make sure he doesn’t end up overpowered).

Another question is about voice acting. Do you feel he should have any grunts or dialogue or would you prefer to callback to the older NES and SNESgames and leave him mostly silent but with that iconic Contra death sound when he loses a stock?

Do you guys think they should stick to Bill and Lance’s classic NES and SNES designs for Smash or incorporate elements from their more modern designs? Personally, I think they should do what they did for Simon and make a modernized version of their original appearances.
Personally, I think the Contra: Return render has it down pretty good

More or less just the original NES design with better graphics. Something like this would be cool.

Yeah, that design is great. It does give me very strong Duke Nukem vibes though. I might give him back his headband at least to make him stand out a little more from Duke.

Considering the popular suggestion to make them light, I'd say at least double Mega Man's range.

I DEMAND the WOW death scream.

How would the Spreader be balanced?

I think dialogue would feel a little odd, but I wouldn't be opposed to some voice grunts.

I'll put all the noms I have toward, um... Ryu Hayabusa.

I think the spread gun should probably travel less distance horizontally to make up for its vertical range. It can also fire at a slower rate than the default machine gun.

From my basic knowledge of how allegedly OP it is, I wonder if you could just straight-up make it a Final Smash. Though, I'm not sure if there's any other options. Would anything else fit as an FS?

If Sakurai were allowed some level of liberties with how the guns work, we could have the spread gun have a shorter range than his normal gun, but make it more powerful. Maybe it could be his neutral special or something.

For Bill's final Smash I imagine it'd have to be one of those screen-clearing bombs, but, you know, maybe it doesn't cover the whole screen like it does in Contra games lol. Or if it did it could be more of a cinematic FS I guess.

How would a Spirit Board for Contra work? I know very little about Contra, so I dunno who could be in the game as a Spirit. Probably some of the enemies are a given, though.

The spread gun is very powerful but at the end of the day, it is just another normal gun. Bill has the perfect weapon for a Final Smash though. It’s the big screen clearing bomb from Contra 3. Basically the Starfox bomb, just much bigger and more powerful.

Alright I guess I’ll start. I know absolutely nothing about Warframe but I recently Googled it and the character designs are pretty cool. Can you tell me a bit about the games and what a character from it could play like?

Gladly! Warframe is a third person online action game made by Canada-based Digital Extremes. And if the tagline for Warframe (Ninjas Play Free) isn't enough to tip you off, it's entirely free to play!

You basically play as a Warframe, a mechanical battle suit with a suite of abilities to use to your advantage. Each Warframe is unique: one Warframe, Sevagoth, has soul-based power and unleashes what is effectively a Stand to attack enemies. Another, Grendel, is a chunky Warframe with a giant maw on his gut that can devour a multitude of enemies at once.

I selected Warframe not just because I feel it's a fun game, but also because we already have some Warframe content in Smash already: the Lotus, the guide character for the player.

As for how they play, that's tough: again, each Warframe is unique, but there are a few popular standouts: Excalibur, the beginner-friendly Warframe, Frost, the (to my knowledge) most popular Warframe ever, and Sevagoth, a Warframe who started off as fanart by an ascended community artist.

Based on the name, I’m guessing Frost uses ice elemental attacks? Is that correct? I love ice elemental characters and we could really use another after only Ice Climbers.

Great choice on Okabe, I loved the Stein’s Gate anime.

Yup. Frost uses ice to fight. We have a low shortage of those for some reason.

I also know nothing about Warframe, but the designs look fantastic in an alien kind of way. So allow me to ask this; which Tenno would be most likely to be chosen as the rep?

As mentioned before, there's the following:

  • Excalibur: The cover Warframe and the beginner-friendly character. He can create flashbang bursts to stun enemies, unleash a burst of javelins around himself, and unleash a powerful Exalted Blade that passively shoots Blade Beams.
  • Frost: One of the more popular Warframes, capable of creating ice domes, cause avalanches, and shooting a wave of ice spikes.
  • Sevagoth: A reaper-themed Warframe that started out as fan-art. Sevagoth has soul-based powers and can summon his Shadow, who has his own set of Abilities.
In addition, there's also:
  • Rhino: Another popular Warframe. This dude is all about charging in, buffing himself, and has an epic time-slowing stomp, too.
  • Nova: The first Warframe many players ever craft, capable of using anti-matter to her advantage.

Okay, Warframe day! Like a lot of other users here, I know next to nothing about Warframe, with my main knowledge being that there is a character named Lotus in it and that character got a spirit in Smash added post-launch. That said, I do love that spirit existing and generally would like it if we got more random third-party shout-outs in Smash...

What would Warframe's stage be?

What would Warframe's stage be?
There's a lot of stuff to think about considering how vast Warframe is when thinking about stages, but there are a few candidates:
  • The Orbiter: Your base of operations and the ship where you can change loadouts, build new Warframes and weapons, and raise pets.
  • The Clan Dojo: The place where you can interact with clanmates and tweak your Railjack
  • Orokin Tower: A structure in the Void made by the creators of the Tenno, the oppressive Orokin Empire. It has an organic, golden aesthetic to it and has a different layout each time you select it.
  • Fortuna: A Corpus city on Venus where the shallow, greedy megalomaniac Nef Anyo has enslaved its populace.
  • Kuva Fortress: The Grineer's wandering headquarters and home to the Grineer Queens.
And that's not even scratching the surface!

Does Warframe have any notable songs to include?
Oh, believe me, there are more than a few bangers. Here are some notable examples:

Do you have any ideas for what a reveal trailer might look like? Judging by their design, I think something with Metroid or Xenoblade could be fun.

I imagine it being Samus infiltrating a Grineer ship and fighting her way through some of them before she becomes surrounded. She's out of ammo, she's low on energy, but she still tries to fight anyway...only for a Tenno to drop in from the vent and annihilate full waves of Grineer.

So, what would the spirit set be like, beyond the single one we have already?
Well, there are more than a few candidates as far as Spirits are concerned, including:

  • Nef Anyo: The rat-******* ruler of Fortuna, a money-grubber and a scoundrel through and through. Plus, he looks stupid as ****.
  • Vay Hek: The #1 hammiest character in the entirety of Warframe, Vay Hek is the Earth boss of the game.
  • Clem: A Grineer defector who sides with you and your friends, Clem is one big bundle of joy for many players.
  • Ordis: Your AI companion. The Cortana to your Master Chief, the Adam to your Samus (In Metroid Fusion specifically), Ordis is loyal to the Operator, and is known for sudden shifts of personality.
  • Lephantis: A hideous abomination of the Infested, Lephantis was formerly the boss of the Orokin Derelict, but is now a boss of Deimos.
  • Teshin: The master of the Conclave, Teshin is just as much responsible for the Conclave PvP system as he is integral to the game's story.

Now that we've established some of the likelier Warframes and the basics of what they can do, are we able to put together a moveset for any of them?

What sort if bull%$#@ mindset leads to this sort of ludicrous technological advancements

I actually made movesets for two separate Warframes:

The first for Excalibur, and the second for a Warframe called Lavos.

But seriously, Nef Anyo's faction, the Corpus, is a megaconglamorate that's all about that dosh.

I find it funny that we are doing the Warframe rep the day of Tennocon lol

Anyways, I think no matter who they go with they could potentially have some of the most fun movement in the game

I personally would go with Excalibur

It's a Starter Warframe so most players have seen it, It has gun, It has sword.
