I agree with everything except for Mewtwo's character selection icon being ugly..

Exactly. The only good thing from this is the "shop" button, which hopefully brings back Ice Climbers, Wolf, Lucas, and Snake, and gives us the RH rep (hopefully wrestler and reporter) as well as King K.

Where are the Viruses from Dr. Mario?? I NEED that stage!

I know, I wasn't initially that excited about Rayman either but I'm excited for 2 reasons
1. Leaks are always exciting like in the summer of 2014 (rest of the characters being leaked)
2. And Now if this is true, they are more open to more characters, like Wolf, and Rayman is a perfect example that they will mostly likely add more satisfying characters

The fact it comes with a shop icon suggests this is something that will need to be accessed more than once, so maybe there are returning or cut stages to fill the waits between characters.

Well I think it's well known Snake was a favor. Rayman has nothing to do with video game history, like the other four big wigs do. He shouldn't be a part of this.

Not only is Rayman a pretty damn cool character as far as what he can do with his body type (basically what people said Sukapon could do), he's also not a straight-up promotional throwaway. That bodes well for anyone wanting any DLC outside the shallow pool of Captain Toad/Splatoon Squid/Abraham Lincoln.

I thought Megaman having 30 mil in main series in 2013 compared to Rayman main series having 25 mil in 2014 made a bit of a difference, as well as the fact that Megaman was bigger for Nintendo compared to Rayman. But ya know, if we just wanted to add in any old video game fighter rather than characters very important to Nintendo, I guess I should find a new fighting game.

Assassin's Creed isn't silly enough to warrant being in Smash. Snake was great because his premise was silly, and how crazy Kojima is. EG, "mmm, tasty" and "SNAKE? SNAAKE? SNAAAAKE!?"

There is nothing remotely humorous about the assassin's creed series besides that one "Its-a-me, mario!" moment.

Such a big difference in sales. Rayman's sales don't even count the Rabbids games, which would push him far over Mega Man's sales. Bigger for Nintendo? Solid Snake? Why do people keep forgetting Sakurai's own words? He never said that third parties had to be important to Nintendo, in fact, he said that they only needed one game. If a character only needs one game, then he clearly doesn't care about how close they are to Nintendo (which defeats the idea of third parties not being Nintendo).

If he wanted to keep it "important to Nintendo" we never would have had third parties in the first place.

I'm not a big fan of Rayman but I can't see the sense in people saying he's not iconic enough. No duh.

We already have Mario, Pacman, Sonic and Megaman in the game, who are pretty much the daddies of gaming. If you held every 3rd party inclusion afterwards to this standard we'd never see a new 3rd party character ever again. (and how likely do you think that is?)

Rayman is easily the next in line, his series has sold over 25 million and he's been around since what? 1995 I think? Not to mention he's from a western developer, which is another interesting avenue Smash Bros has never gone down.

I just recently said his chances where likely, and look at this thing now. I am no more fan of Rayman than I am of other 3rd party characters, so my response isn't exactly an exciting one for his inclusion. My most hype is for the "Shop" button, but I think that it mostly serves as to select which DLC you'd like. There is no gurantee it will have more characters in than Mewtwo and Rayman. Tournament Mode for example will most likely be on there, as well as new stages, new music maybe?

I do think there will be more character DLC after Rayman, but am not too sure what others to expect yet. There will probably be some clones in there I think.

Tournament mode won't be purchased, but patched like how the Share option on the 3DS version was added in the latest update.

A lot of assets for the mode are already in the disc, same for the Miiverse stage.

You know, if this Rayman leak is true then it shows that Sakurai and Nintendo don't feel the need to tell us about everything they're working on. (Although that should have been obvious) I got the impression people thought they'd only start on something new once Mewtwo was out the door.

For all we know they're working on other characters right now besides Mewtwo and Rayman, saying that characters take time to develop is surely true but also might be a slight misdirection to lower our expectations. They can work on multiple characters at a time, or at least in a staircased fashion.

Eh I think Rayman is very iconic. Of course if you compare him to Sonic or Megaman he's going to fall short but that's true for any 3rd party character at this stage.
