You say that as if somehow more Wario isn't a good thing.

Can we refrain from using the words "boring" or "deserved" when discussing characters please? It's extremely subjective and is no premise on whether a character should be added or not.

Also this character slot myth that goes around is another thing that gets me up a wall. If those said characters do not make it in, it is not Dark Pit's fault (also Dark Pit is some-what popular in Japan too, probably more so than Ridley and K Rool, so he is probably requested there too).

Oh God. . . I came here at a bad time.

All I have to say about the matter is that no side will progress. Whether you like Dark Pit or not, he was hinted at the end of Palutena's trailer. However, that does not mean he was hinted as a playable character, which some think he's a lock. I mean, he could be an alternate costume, Assist Trophy, or a stage boss. He could be a separate character too. Yuck.

Hey guys, honest question here. Should I replace Vaati on my roster for Impa, or keep my identity and keep Vaati on my roster?

Ok...you added vaati more because of you want side I guess.

I already told this, but in expectation, I strongly oppose to mix expectation and want especially in supports. This means I support who I want, not what I expect UNLESS I want at the same time. That's why I mostly posts in Ridley and my thread while rarely in other support thread. I guess I sort of forgotten mewtwo, but that is more because I don't want him that much to be implicated in supports (also, I'm lazy and the thread is on another subforum, lol).

However, my want side is too biased on Paper Mario while I still didn't expect him. I shouldn't put him while I can't NOT put him because bias. Since it;s obvious how I wanted him anyway, I better not do the roster and just don't speculate. I was uncomfortable to do so if I'm biased.

Since it became both at the same time, it solved everything. I could now satisfy my want side while being comfortable to expect him for a reason.

I think you should decide according to this. If you have enough confidence to expect him, go ahead and keep him. If it is not the case though, either replace, or not do a roster. If you want to prioritize your true expectation, it will likely not match your want, but give you a better idea of what you should hope in general (checking chances of who you would like generally).

I did this for me and it gave me high hopes since practically all my most wanted had somehow good chances. What is particular in my situation is that I have no considerable worries which mean I can be completely wrong and still be happy about the game which grants me SAFE speculation until release.

TL;DR, do what your brain and your heart says.

Well, the whole Lucina news when she was planned out to be a female palette swap for Marth, like WFT Robin & Villager, but ending up being semi-clone for the different knock-back & VA with taunts as the differences. Even if it was last minute, it still happened. Clones are despised in the past Smash Brothers games going back to 64 & especially Melee, are remembered & looked at from Sakurai knowing we, the Smashers, want change. DP's inclusion wouldn't be automatically 100% clone, just semi-clone which is acceptable.

You don't have to shout about Mewtwo, we know. For the most part on King K. Rool I approve, except not as a rep, but as a playable character. I can't say myself that a franchise Universe deserves one more than another because I'd proclaim F-Zero deserves at least one more fighter, but not when compared to the demand DKC has. . .

Lastly your opinion is decent but DP wouldn't be a waste of a slot imo. Fans that loved the game & loved DP wouldn't agree which is fine, but saying it like he really would is ludicrous. Taking up one slot in a 50+ character roster is fine.

Here we go with the assumption that clones steal spots from unique characters again. Clones are mostly added to beef up the roster when there isn't anymore time left to add unique characters, they're more or less just bonus characters, only exceptions to this as far as we know are Luigi and Lucas, every other clone has been added at the end of development.

It's not between Dark Pit and Ridley/Mewtwo/K. Rool/Shulk/Isaac, the only characters Dark Pit takes a spot from are other potential clone characters like Dr. Mario and Roy, the ones you mention have entirely different criterias for joining the roster, and some of them have probably been sidelined in favor of some of the currently announced newcomers.

I'm not sure that there will be any, apart from some returning veterans. Just because Lucina got lucky and was made her own character out of an alt, doesn't mean we're suddenly going to get a bunch of clones. By the looks of it, she's an exception, not a rule.

Honestly, the only other characters I can see potentially getting the Lucina Treatment and being upgraded from alts to playable characters are Dr. Mario, Impa (Sheik Alt) and Dark Pit. This is assuming they are alts at all.

In terms of potential clones(not necessarily what I want to happen) we have Dark Pit, Doctor Mario, Galacta Knight, Toon Zelda, Impa, Dixie Kong, Black Shadow, and Dark Meta Knight. Okay, I didn't want to be the one to toss another "Dark" character in the blender, but I just couldn't help it. In all seriousness, I hope he never becomes more than an alt. costume. I'm just really happy Project M is adding it. Back to the potential clones, anyone I'm missing?

Hey, um. Can somebody explain to me Robin's moves and Final Smash to me? I've been trying to read the Famitsu scans on the Smash Dojo, but it's a little blurry (I'm also trying to make out Lucina's Side Special, and Captain Falcon's unique Side Special as well).

Sakurai's an artist, I'm an artist, and for the sake of this argument, let's say you're an artist too. I love your work by the way.

We've been tasked to design an eclectic and exciting cast of characters. Let's start with basic sketches, no colors yet.

Draw Marth. Now draw Lucina. Inspired by the original, slender, long hair, different costume but with allusions to her predecessor. A good pair.

Draw Link. Now Draw Toon Link. He's a different take on the original, but goofy and youthful. He isn't meant to be as serious, but still just as fun. Give him some cat eyes.

Draw Zelda. Now draw Sheik. We know it's the same girl, but the design doesn't scream that. There's a different stance and attitude to her.

Draw Mario. Now draw Paper Mario. Similar to the Link/Toon Link deal. One's a simpler, goofy, alternate version with an arsenal of accesories that make him stand out from the original. Now draw Dr. Mario. Okay, so you just put a coat on Mario. Scratch that.

Draw Fox. Now draw Falco. Haha. Sweet.

Now Draw Pit. And then Dark Pit. You know you're drawing the same character over and over again, right?
Fine, just color them, we'll make it a palette swap.

He's not as demanded as Dark Pit, lots of people don 't seem to care about Pikmin 3 when it first came out, I thought it deserves it's own character representation, but I have a feeling most of the padded clones will be purely based on popularity and/or importance. Alph has neither, which is why I think he's not getting in.

That's assuming we'll even get more "padded" clone characters. Since we only have one clone newcomer at the moment, it's too early to assume that we will be getting more based on that alone.

Newcomer clones are possible, but Sakurai's quote made it sound like Lucina was an exception. Now, veteran clones are a different story. We've seen Toon Link already. Falco or Wolf is a guarantee in my opinion. However, Wolf could be considered a pseudo-clone. I doubt Ganondorf will be "revamped" sadly and I consider him a lock.

The clown car idea doesn't make any sense to me, I don't like Duck Hunt Dog, and Dr.Mario is a waste if we're getting rid of Wolf, Lucas, Ice Climbers, and Snake in the process.
