Guys... 35 days until the japanese release of the game, and with it the reveal of the true on-disc roster (if DLC will be a thing).

25 final Miiverse Pictures of the Day. 36 Character Slots (38 Fighters) known. How many trailers will we see? How many veterans will we know before release that we don't already? How many newcomers will be shown off before release? How many will there be that we don't know yet? After over 13 months, we are nearing the release... and the truth.

I see 2, maybe 3 more trailers. One (or two) in August, and one on September 12th. 2 or 3 of 4 unknown newcomers to be shown off, and 6 of 11 returning veterans to be shown off.

Just one more reason of proof that the Mii's will not be on the CSS as regular characters.
Count that up to reason 9 as 'duh' of course they are 'Create a Character' mode.

Thanks Sakurai!

I have a feeling we might get PotD's after the 3DS release and until the Wii U version comes on in Japan, in all honesty. As remember, the Wii U version is said to have exclusive modes, too... None of which have been detailed. Plus, there could be post release pics also.

I would guess there's gonna be pic of the days until it's released in every country or almost everywhere like they did with Brawl.

I was meaning solely for the potential point of characters. Stages, modes, trophies, etc are all factors that could be shown off all throughout, and we could have pictures shown after the japanese 3DS release. I was putting this all into perspective to the part of the game that is most feuded over: the roster.

Warning Received
Series importance is not relevant in the slightest.
List of best-selling video game franchises
At least 100 million copies
MarioJuly 9, 1981445.208 million
Mario first appeared in 1981 (in the original Donkey Kong[11]), before starring in Mario Bros. and then the Super Mario series of platform games. The character was created by Japanese game designer Shigeru Miyamoto and has since become the official mascot of Nintendo, owner of the trademark. The Mario franchise has expanded into other game genres, including racing, sports, party, puzzle, and RPG. The franchise also includes other media, including three animated television series, comic books, manga, film and other merchandise. It remains the best-selling video game franchise of all time.
Super Mario September 13, 1985262 million
The Super Mario series of platform games began in 1985 and features Nintendo's character Mario. The Super Mario series forms the core of the Mario franchise.

Pokémon February 27, 1996245 million
Pokémon was created by Satoshi Tajiri in 1996 as a role-playing video game for the Game Boy handheld game console, soon turning into a franchise merchandised into anime, manga, trading cards, toys, books, and other media. It is owned by Nintendo and features 8 games in the main series, divided into 23 versions, and 43 spin off games, adding up to 66 games in total.

Wii November 19, 2006192.76 million
The Wii series of physical simulation video games was created by Shigeru Miyamoto in 2006 to help with the initial launch of Nintendo's Wii console. The first game in the series,Wii Sports, was included with the original Wii Console.

Sorry Morbid; if Series representation meant nothing to Sakurai, he would not have felt the need to put in a character that most people still do not want in the game. Wii Fit Trainer is in the game because the series is the fourth best selling video game franchise ever. The character itself is bland, utilizes a forced mechanic, and is in her own right non deserving. She is in because her series deserved to be represented.

I apologize that I did not make the context more clear (I attempted in the subsequent sentences of the post), I was trying to insinuate that important series are not the only series that "deserve" representation and that Kid Icarus' importance or lack thereof is not relevant as Sakurai tends to choose characters based on their merit, not the series they come from. It is a contributing factor, inherently, but I do not believe that series importance will hold Dark Pit back. Series importance is not proportional to the amount of representatives we get on the roster was my main point. The counter argument is that: "Kid Icarus is too small of a series to get three characters." So in that context, I asserted the above statement. I did not mean to imply that it is not relevant in the slightest. Poor diction on my part.

Dark Pit is special because he actually has evidence (albeit subtle allusions) in his favor, unlike most of the characters that we support. Ridley is comparable to Dark Pit, as we have seen Smash reference them in some way, shape, or form.
Whether or not you choose to acknowledge evidence for characters such as Mewtwo, Isaac, and King K Rool, or refuse to acknowledge the things that make Dark Pit an entirely special scenario* are up to you; but it does not mean nothing points to his non-inclusion any more so than other characters.

Mainly, that he would have to be the only non revealed newcomer to be seen AND named without being revealed; you are a stickler for demanding continuity for how characters are treated and what is considered 'evidence,' yet this huge difference in how Dark Pit has been handled makes it enough to say that if he is this likely, you know who is even more likely? Rayman -> he has been shown, hinted, marketed at key times in development to crowds, leaked.

This still asserts that characters matter, not franchise.
Yet evidently, the character of WFT was not what mattered.
I understand your point about NUMBER of characters, but one characters is still a number.

The lyrics to this song are particularly poignant when it comes to how infuriated Morbid likes to make people about DP

Edit: this is totally appropriate content to be on this forum. DP is about Dark Pit, the discussion at hand!
Way more stress relieving and relevant than one of 200 memes about Stephen Colbert or some random blond biddy.

My post was pertaining to objective evidence, "tangible" evidence... something definitive. For instance, there is nothing to indicate that Isaac would be in the game, correct me if I am wrong. Sure, characters have merit, but evidence? Mewtwo is among those who we have reason to believe they are in the game based on reason. King K. Rool does not have evidence without an assumption. The Kremlings are not evidence of King K. Rool exclusively (as they do not indicate a playable King K. Rool, they are an indication of Kremlings in the game). Dark Pit's trailer cliff-hanger or Sakurai's statements pertaining to Mewtwo directly correlate with their character and exclusively their character. There is a subtle difference.

Something can point to inclusion without being evidence. Funny enough, I actually support Rayman to an extent for the above reasoning.

I've re read it a bunch; what's your issue thundercat?
I am not sure if this was directed at me, I will just assume it was. I was asserting that Dark Pit is special as he has direct evidence pertaining to his inclusion. There are no assumption, he was blatantly hinted at. We have seen him in Smash material. Most characters do not receive that treatment. Mewtwo and Ridley are some of the only other characters that have that. Ridley is the example that I chose in my initial post because we have actually seen him in Smash 4 whereas Mewtwo was alluded to outside of Smash. Using this evidence, we can deduce that Dark Pit is in the game one way or another. We cannot necessarily do the same with most other characters (which is why I called him a special case, something that was YOUR issue, not mine).

So nothing revealed about Event Matches yet?... Disappointing, event matches are one of my favorite parts of Smash Bros., though I prefer them in the Melee style with more unique scenarios, more of them, and just direct difficulty, no toggling difficulty. That made every event match feel like an actual accomplishment since they each had their own difficulty preset. I was disappointed in Brawl's event matches to an extent as a result, and for other reasons like lack of variety in comparison to Melee, really hoping we get to see some awesome stuff on event matches soon. Maybe unique event matches in both versions?

Also just now realized that was off-topic, so an awesome event match with Ridley, King K. Rool, and Mewtwo similar to 51 from Melee? (Arbitrary character reference to semi stay on topic...)

You could not POSSIBLY not support Rayman and follow through with the statements you are saying, there is nothing funny about it.

Yet you said definite evidence- that is not what Dark Pit demonstrates. Evidence of being in the game, absolutely. He has been in the game before, as you pointed out. If we are going by precedent, which you seem to do on a regular basis, then precedent does not dictate he would be his own character. You assert he is the sole newcomer to be revealed and named before being declared a playable character. If this is the case, you are acknowledging any individual character may be given individual treatment, and that there are no patterns, no rituals, not anything of the sort- and in short, that what you consider evidence may be entirely circumstantial and subjected to your own hearts desire. As a jury you have already proven yourself to be too subjective to the case when you stated just how much you want Dark Pit to be playable so that you and your sister can have different Pit's to play as.
You incorrectly stated at a point a week ago where my stance is on Dark Pit: I honestly do not care. Your obsessive behavior over him is incredibly precocious, but as a character in smash, while I think Medusa would be my top KI:U choice, I really just want more characters in the game. I think he is not the best fit, but a higher roster count is a higher roster count.

In terms of precedent, all characters who were named before being revealed as newcomers were DISCONFIRMED. This is evidence against Dark Pit being included, take it or not. This is the pattern we have so far observed. There is a heavy correlation between a character being acknowledged directly, and not being acknowledged at all.
For characters of such magnitude as K Rool, this is peculiar to have not had him mentioned at all. The lack of evidence IS evidence. We have not had any DK content, or a mention of a character who has been on the top of the charts; as a most requested character, he is nearly guaranteed to be in the game in SOME form, and the omission of any statement hints at a big feature for him. Unless your argument is that Sakurai is unaware of K Rool's fandom across the world, or that his goal is to build suspense for a year only to let a large fan base down (incredibly poor marketing), this is evidence.

I feel for you, the turns & spins away from regular battling of Vs. Mode with Event challenges was fun. They may of been removed & moved aside for the newer 1-Player content. 1-Player Classic is not so classic anymore but totally awesome. Choosing different paths you take is definitely 1-UP'ing it.
I'm still salty BTP hasn't been revived & mentioned at all, that's been a dream since Brawl I'l just have to wait for.

Bandana Dee confirmed due to lack of Kirby info! :troll: Actually, I am among the crowd that would like him to be in the game. And what you're saying makes sense to me. Save the stage announcement for a trailer!

You did not quote anyone...

Regarding Rayman... we already established that.

No. Precedent does not dictate that he would not be his own character. Dark Pit did not exist in Brawl (he was a concept, not a named character) and he is his own character in Uprising. I did not assert that he is the sole newcomer to be revealed and named, he was not named in the Japanese (original version) of the trailer, thus that presumption is incorrect, good sir; however, I do not believe naming or not naming a character before their reveal is entirely relevant as is.

Fortunately, that is not the case and I am not insinuating any of your arbitrary criteria. Get that straw-man fallacy out of my face.

I did not ever assert that the evidence was not circumstantial. In fact, I always ensure that I declare that it is indeed circumstantial evidence. That does not; however, mean that it does not exist. I am partially biased, but I started my support for Dark Pit as unbiased as possible, I was a detractor. I did not support him until he had enough evidence. Hence why you are only hearing about my enthusiasm for the character as of current. I did not support him when his trailer was first shown either. Therefore, I would maintain that my decision to support him is not based on any inherent biases. Perhaps my statements are riddled with bias, but that had no influence on my decision to support him.

I am not sure why this sentiment is material. I already declared that I only wish to support one of my most wanted newcomers unfettered. I incorrectly stated a point a week ago, and you just bring it up now (BUT OF COURSE YOU MENTION THAT YOU DO NOT CARE) whilst not bringing my erroneous statement to attention? To what avail, to what avail?

Interesting. As I already mentioned, this is not material. If you insist that it is evidence against him, I will consider it.

Lack of evidence is evidence. You dare insinuate that I would make a repugnant juror? Dear lord.

I should have put "lack of evidence" in quotations, as it was your sentiment that I was referring to. My apologies
And again I assert the thundercat statement has always had a quotation above it; to the guy with a thundercat avatar.
You think I'm just out to get you, don't ya?

I'm only out to listen to Pentatonix.

As for "arbitrary Criteria," is it ironic that you decide what is arbitrary? Are your arbitrations to what is arbitrary enough of a point to this objection?

I forgive you, Duke. Without you, there would be no one to debate Dark Pit's inclusion. You are the only one brave enough to attempt it.

I do not even know what "Thundercat" is to be honest. I thought you were alluding to the quotation function (and making fun of my Rocket avatar). :shades:

Indeed. I quiver in fear every time I see your avatar quoting one of my posts.

You can be as condescending as you'd like; this was entirely unnecessary and baseless on anything that I said.
I repeat that you can call something arbitrary and it does not make it so, you can call evidence founded or disputed and it does not make it so.
But I've given you enough attention for today. Your ego as been fed enough for the time being. I just cannot wait for it to be crushed should Dark Pit not be playable as anything other than an alternate costume.

... Okay, perhaps you quoted the wrong post? If you are talking about the arbitrary criteria portion of my previous post, you have to actually prove that it was not arbitrary (meaning you need a source that indicates that your thoughts are accurate and that mine are not).

However, I am quite interested that you are more interested in my "ego" being crushed. I see that there is an inherent bias present. Curious as I was accused of something fairly similar. Regardless, I am doubtful that such will happen.

Missing out on all this juicy discussing & debating, all because I didn't play KI:U, I cannot join in MorbiDuke's conversation. . . :ohwell:

Edit: It was painful to just watch read, but I had food & water. Good reads

Double Edit: I'm ready to re-discuss about any playable character.

... Okay, perhaps you quoted the wrong post?
Is this even English?
This is what I quoted. The evidence is there if you would just scroll up, which suggests to me the short effort you will actually put into actually examining the possibility that at times you may even be incorrect. Clearly, not your post, and furthermore, indeed the correct one to the response I gave it above.

Moving along:

If you are talking about the arbitrary criteria portion of my previous post, you have to actually prove that it was not arbitrary (meaning you need a source that indicates that your thoughts are accurate and that mine are not).
I need a source to tell me that you decide what constitutes evidence and what does not?
That you can single handedly declare it is not peculiar that DARK PIT would have been shown in a trailer but not revealed? (Versus the notion that, he being the sole outlier to what has been done so far, is in fact not an outlier, which by Okham's Razor would dictate that as the most obvious solution, he is in fact not an outlier and is indeed not a character unrevealed in a trailer?)

Or a source that claims that you are the law on what dictates a 'cliffhanger,' and that Tom Nook did not leave one?
I am not disputing that Dark Pit clearly indicated SOMETHING, yet character? The single piece of evidence I've read towards this seeming possible is that it would make sense that Sakurai is trying to build hype for the series' so that someone else could take over for it.

You mentioned something about 'character representation,' which is already disputed with my argument about Wii Fit Trainer above.
Yet, it is also disproved in something that you said. You stated that, to get proper series representation, we would need to have 'all Mario characters, a few Pokemon, and then Link.'
I would assert that the opposite is true, it is in fact because we have a balanced number of series representatives that we do NOT have this. If we were just going by characters who were cool and could be added, Mario would have dozens more, so would Pokemon. Trying not to over represent a series is why we do not have a roster full of Mario and Pokemon characters.
Sure, this does not mean we could not have another KI character, but it absolutely puts to rest that yes- Sakurai does look at the overall number of characters a series has, not just who would make a cool character If this were not so, we would not have any Pokemon cut between games, as Sakurai has outright stated he does not want to cut characters, because he knows they each have a fan base.

However, I am quite interested that you are more interested in my "ego" being crushed. I see that there is an inherent bias present. Curious as I was accused of something fairly similar. Regardless, I am doubtful that such will happen.

As I said, I am in fact bias, but in both directions. I mentioned this above.
Therefore: more characters: yay to nearly anyone. If he is not in: yay, morbid is proven as fallible as she is. Win/win.

Again, perhaps read what I write :p

NOW, as for other things:
In Palutena's trailer, she says:
"Anything an angel can do, a Goddess can do better."

All other trailer's have been high indicators of how the characters function. Robin's for example! He is not just another swordsman, the tomes breaking.
I would like to suggest this statement is actually Palutena stating that she does in fact take her moves (how they end up working on a practical level, as I understand they are technically from KI:U) from other characters, and 'improve them.'

This would also explain her 'Gimmick.' She is a Goddess. She has 12 powers because she is a Goddess, and God's have many powers, beyond mortals. She utilizes the powers other fighters have (which is also why she was declared to do this when the Mii's were shown to have 12 original moves, because it is done in the same vain, taking moves from other chacters and tweaking them a bit.)

It's like that Jabba guy in the Miiverse thread how he constantly talks about Wario, posts stupid gifs about Wario, and makes it very clear he supports Wario. It's incessant, annoying, and unnecessary.
Tag me next time. Please.

I am nothing but a big bag of fun and laughs.

Ive been supportive of everyone.

Hell I thought me incouraging you to hype ness on friday got us somewhere.

:) I'm happy with who I am. I don't care what people think.

Id like to think your opinion of me is a minority. That's probably totally false, and people laugh at me not with me.

I don't care. I am me.
Love me or hate me. I love you all.

Um, the clock is still ticking on that newcomer video for tomorrow. Even if it isn't the real channel, what if the video itself is the real deal?

How bizarre it would be if it is real. It would be a newcomer video unannounced. Only a complete lunatic would think this were a good marketing strate-...

Who the heck is Dark Pong? I always assumed that if the video was bogus, it would just be an older video. Or the fanmade Chorus Kids trailer. Or if it turns out to be a practical joke, Rick Asley will join the battle.
