This thread has made me love Dark Pit. It is so fun supporting a character that everyone resents, a character that no one can refute. The only responses are denials or opinions on the character, it makes me tremble with excitement.
Most characters still in the running can't be accurately refuted or reasoned away though. All we have are our opinions, beliefs and denials.

Dark Pit is nothing special in that regard.

Dark Pit is special because he actually has evidence (albeit subtle allusions) in his favor, unlike most of the characters that we support. Ridley is comparable to Dark Pit, as we have seen Smash reference them in some way, shape, or form.

That's exactly what I meant. (maybe I didn't word it well)

If the mechanics (i.e moveset, move effects, hitboxes etc) of Dark Pit are the same as the mechanics of Pit then Dark Pit can be an alternate costume for Pit. (i.e if the mechanics of Dark Pit haven't changed from the original Pit mechanics)
Eh looks like I found the quote:
In such cases, even if two characters' names and voices differ, as long as they function the same way, I assign them as alternate costumes
But..
However, even though Lucina shares her physical stats and techniques with Marth, the characteristics of their attacks differ. When two such similar characters function in an even slightly different manner, I give them a separate spot on the roster since that will affect battle records and whatnot.
Technically Dark Pit does function a tiny bit differently with the notable Staff and the other main KI:U weapons if in mind. Alph for example has the exact same play style as Olimar, he doesn't any distinguishing notable attacks (The Rock Pikmin doesn't count) that he can use to make him a seperate slot, but Dark Pit has weapons (Most notably the Dark Pit Staff) that can make him different enough to be his own seperate character.

But Dark Pit is the only one besides Ridley that everyone seems to have completely mixed feelings for, usually hating him, so he feeds of that hate and grows stronger, like a Lich. :awesome:

Subtle allusions or a fanbase getting carried away? I guess time will tell.

Though we don't know if those subtle allusions to Dark Pit actually point towards playability. They could just be teasing something smaller, like an alternate costume. We don't know at this point.

Um... Why don't the Rock Pikmin count?

Maybe if people stopped bringing him up
Like seriously no one is talking about him then suddenly one person mentions something about why do people like him, me and other supporters naturally answer, and then it turns into a mess of people saying that he is terrible and yadda yadda yadda...

Dark Pit certainly has more observable evidence in his favor than my current wanted characters. I'd kill for a Krystal cameo in a trailer. I would ride that thing all the way till deconfirmation.

Can we PLEASE change the subject to something else? Dark Pit this, Dark Pit that. Talk about something else for a change.

Does anybody think Ganondorf might get revealed for Hyrule Warriors? Or will he be in a trailer?

IMO, Alph has more to differentiate himself from Olimar than Dark Pit has to differentiate himself from Pit.

Subtle allusion that incite the fan-base to get carried away would be the most accurate assertion. The allusions are there, objectively. There is no denying that, the question: do they mean anything?

Regarding Dark Pit; I have no idea what's going to happen at this point. I don't support him, but I don't resent him either. I still fall on the side that believes he won't be playable, but I ultimately don't care. I'm just enjoying all of the countless debates about this character. It's interesting how far people are taking this redundant discussion. I'm having fun just being here, and going along for this ride pioneered by Morbid.

To be fair, who has cameo'd in a trailer that is now playable?

No one. Not even G&W is back yet. (Even though he probably will return, but veterans arent really comparable to newcomers.)

Yes, dear Lord, let us please stop with the Dark Pit. I've "unwatched" this thread at least 3 times because of Dark Pit.

As for Ganondorf, why not both? What if he's revealed for Hyrule Warriors, and then features prominently in one of the trailers? We've seen it with most of the other characters, only Charizard and Captain Falcon being the exceptions. (and then there's Mr. G&W... but that's another story)

G&W I'm sure will be back. Willing to bet my life on it. Dark Pit is a separate case, though it seems rather pointless to stuff him in at the end for the heck of it. I expect him to be in at some significant capacity.

I am glad that I was the pioneer of this fantastic journey, at least some people are entertained. I would like to assert that I do not take it seriously; however, I legitimately support Dark Pit, I do actually care about his fate. :shades:

Soon.

Care to elaborate on that sentiment? I am genuinely curious as to what differentiates Olimar from Alph from a game-play perspective.

I think if he got a revamped move set, he'll be shown off in a trailer, or possibly a Direct. If he retains the Captain Falcon move set, then he'll likely be shown off in a veteran reveal; possibly on the Hyrule Warriors release date, or just kept hidden.

Villain trailer, perhaps?

Might not be the most likely thing, but it would be a fantastic idea for building hype just before release.

In that event, he is more likely than not, going to be revealed as a veteran. I doubt his revamp is going to be more significant than his "revamp" was from Melee to Brawl. Bowserfication is what I expect the most.

If we get both back, then I'll be satisfied on that end.
I agree with this sentiment wholeheartedly. I might even get over Dark Pit's non-inclusion.

Yeah, if you guys do not want to debate about Pittoo, just don't bring it up.. :9
And we won't react,

Sure. Rock pikmin. Where as, IMO, Dark Pit has nothing that differentiates himself from Pit. Different weapons? They can both use any weapon of their choosing. Infinite flight maybe, but thats not really some thing that can transfer into smash well outside of maybe a different up b (like Pits up b from Brawl.)

But im rather tired of DP discussion.

I could definitely see Ganondorf being revealed on HW release.

Don't see why they would be excluded.
They're clones and OBVIOUSLY deserve to turn into alternate costumes for Fox, Krystal CLEARLY has more potential with that staff of hers , Fire Wolf, deflectors and landmastahs is all i see in them , so clearly they are gone.

Apparently an alternate costume is a significant role, enough to warrant his own place in the trailer. :troll:

I suppose you are very passionate about Dark Pit's non-inclusion in that event; however, you do have a good point not regarding Dark Pit. Ganondorf could be revealed for Hyrule Warriors while being featured in a trailer. In fact, that is probably the most likely scenario depending on when the general Direct comes out.

Falco is a two time veteran and a bird. He's not even a mammal.

I know, I know.... You're only joking.

Why would they be trying to hype up a clone that no one wanted from a some what small series that already has a new character (that people DID want) so much?

An alt is actually very favorable compared to being a trophy that gathers dust with all the other million trophies you and I are going to read maybe twice in our lives. :glare:

I am not sure, there are theories that he is trying to expose the Smash audience to Dark Pit, I suppose that would attenuate that hate he would get at launch. Or perhaps it is because Dark Pit is actually quite prominent in Uprising. A fan favorite for certain (dat theme). Regardless, the question is not entirely relevant as he is quite clearly hyping up Dark Pit. I am not asserting that it is NOT because of his costume role. That could be it, but I too find it odd that he is trying to hype up "a clone that no one wanted from a somewhat small series that already has a new character that people DID want so much."

I don't read your comments as broken-Riki-Heropon language; I read them as "I don't like this thing so I'll be unfair about evidence and tease fanbase" language. Don't knock it until you try it.
