rock may beat scissors but that doesn't make rock better than scissors. Cause scissors beats paper, an opponent which rock loses to.
What he is trying to say that to define someone as better, that person must do better overall (i.e. able to beat more people in competitive play than the other guy).
So DEHF in a lot of videos on youtube beats Tyrant. Does that mean that DEHF is better than Tyrant? No. Cause DEHF also, oddly enough, has lost to some players that Tyrant consistently beats.
Inui logic would tell you x beats y therefor x>y. But that ignores how the entire game functions. x could lose to z, a, c, l, j, and f whereas y beats all those people.
And put it this way. DDD beats Marth. Is DDD better than Marth? No cause overall, Marth has a better match-up pool than DDD. Marth wins more often against more people than DDD.
The only thing flawed about Cory's analogy was the limited number of 'combatants.' But Cory is right when he says a lot of people have the flawed logic as stated above.

I wasn't stating who I think is better. I was just pointing out the point of Cory's analogy. That's exactly how I think about the game. A lot of people think just cause they beat you means they're better than you, ignoring that they lose to a lot of ppl you beat.
Not saying that's the case with steve and cory, just that steve didn't need to try and shut down the analogy. The analogy works.
