to project:

i don't like FD as a first stage unless you play with colbol a lot, just personal preference though

1:15, you were probably doing a stomp jab reset which is fine but not fine when you jab him out of a pop up, jab to anything will never be consistently good in 2011, and def not vs colbol

lots of ur reads are spot on but you do the move too early/ too late

you go for some dangerous grabs in not so good spots

2:12 is a tough to hit no-tech, short hop kneeing them then they DI away and down without running forward a little then kneeing is very very tough, either run a little bit forward then knee or do quick up-air scoop

other stuff: you attack onto stage a lot, everyone nowadays covers falcon double jump aerial so just throw it out once in a while and just double jump grab edge

great reads but small execution errors

some spots you settle for IMO too little when you can **** harder, there are some spots where foxs do a semi obvious no tech after getting hit and you simply up-air

yeah think about it this way like

if you just dd and nair defensively, fox can get to you with a good call, his full jump nair can punish your sh nair

but if youre fulljumping/double jumping, the best he can do is get right below you in the air if youre far enough away, and generally in the lag of a move if he tried to hit you

so then they start trying to dd grab you when you come down, but thats an instinctual timing and it ****s them up if you just mixup the fastfall, i posted that set of me vs pumm in here a while ago and wenbob made fun of me for dj kneeing the whole time, but if you watch the set i dont think i got punished once for it, and he ran straight into a lot of dj slowfalled knees trying to grab

i agree i probably did it too much in that set, but its a good way to keep them thinking and, if youre far enough away, its not really punishable unless they call it, and anything is punishable if predicted

Influenced by Silent Spectre? he seemed to do that the most...

ah, i dunno, you just said something like you didnt even know what to say cause all you see is dj knee

i didnt take offense or anything, no worries, it just sounded like you found it more comical than anything else

and windrose, i dunno, maybe subconsciously, but i havent watched a video of his in like 2 years and i think i developed this over that period

it was probably something that developed, for me at least, by playing other characters/not playing very much and not being good at dash dancing anymore

its nothing to rely on, but a decent mixup if you stay far enough away from them

Placed second at a local today
Came back from Losers

Won first set, went to last stock, last hit, last match, last set and then lost -_-
But I got some great videos

some of me doing well and some of me doing poorly
So I welcome the criticism

Help me destroy him next time

I lost to a local player, he has been playing for a long time but stopped getting into the scene
He played [in this order]

Fox->jiggs->falco->peach
Unfortunately I didn't get GF recorded [the guy whose television we were using to record left] but I did get a few good matches of me vs Sheik, and LF of me vs Peach
So those will be uploaded in the next few days

Okay so

Here:
Me vs Devin (Peach) LF
Me vs F=Ma (Jiggs/Fox) LSF
Me vs Gear (Sheik) tournament set [bad]
Me vs Gear (Sheik) friendlies after our match [much better]

I'll upload the match vs Gear in tournament when it shows up
I uploaded it and it said the video was processing but then it doesn't show up on my page
So when it randomly shows up I will link it here

Things I know I need to work on
Movement
Tournament nerves [related to #1]
Approaching [I shouldn't as much as I do]
General Tech skill [such as full hopping when I wanna short hop and vice versa]
Getting off of platforms if anyone has a good idea on this besides shield drop PLEASE let me know

Have at it

Dunno if you're problem is approaching too much ... you approach with short hop Dair at a spacing where it just won't hit him unless he moves forward, which doesnt seem ... optimal (i.e. it seems real bad)

Yes, general tech skill indeed :lick: there are times if you watch where you'll visibly pause after landing from an aerial, don't fastfall optimally (or at all), etc etc grind tech skill in your room with the lights off

Another thing to note on aerial speed is when you kinda know that an aerial will hit it's much easier to incorporate speed because you know how to time your fastfall, thus playing fast and playing smart kinda go hand in hand ... maybe this is obvious to most people but this was probably my personal biggest barrier to incorporating my speed in training mode into actual gameplay (except for ledgedashing because they can't actually do anything about Fox ledgedashes *evil laugh*)

Getting off platforms - wavedash OoS, roll to the edge -> lightshield -> get hit -> do aerial while falling is sweet if they're not expecting it and pretty sweet even if they are, double jumping away (pretty cold to them calling it but what can you do)

Vs. Sheik - neutral stand up from the ledge when they're close and use invincibility to get edgehog them or do a short hop Dair if they land on stage
When they're not close you can safely refresh invincibility and **** them with ledgehop aerials

Space tighter, sometimes you do moves that just like ... aren't going to hit them at all <_<

Maybe some more character specifics later ~_~ hopefully this is helpful

Tell me what you did wrong here ~_~

Also you guess the roll toward you when they miss the tech like every single time

Lmao and I guess roll in when they miss the tech
One of those annoying things
And yeah the general tech thing is because I'm like "omg run" before my lag is over xD
I need to work on lightshields off ledge

I do a lot of neutral stand ups vs sheik in the later matches/normally
And yes it did help
I just hate making mistakes lmao

As far as what I did wrong in that clip
Are you talking about not going for the second knee
Or the not-running-back-in-grab?

Moonwalking instead of hitting the 2nd knee
It's like a mortal Falcon flaw that you should correct ASAP
Unless you don't like winning then whatever but I feel like every Falcon that learns how to moonwalk will miss infinity double knees because they're like "well that knee ain't gonna combo i'm just gonna moonw-ogodsurvivaldigodammit"
The Jiggs was at prime double knee % too ... even though he wouldn't have died, it's at least another knee toward killing him

Also work on Dthrow knee on Jiggs, it's pretty important that you get them fast enough that he can't jump or rest you out of the knee

Yeah it was one of those things where I was too scared to do it lmao
Even though I know it would hit

And dthrow->knee only goes so fast
I think it's more following DI that I need to work on
But I'll keep that in mind

Dthrow knee on Jiggs is actually really really fast ... I don't think you were doing it quite optimally

if you dthrow jiggs and she DI's away, running sh knee

if she DI's in, fullhop knee

if she doesnt DI, then its pretty hard to actually knee fast enough to not get rested out of it, so just uair or jump all the way above her and dair or something, anything to not end up right inside of her

Also, dair to nipplespike is a pretty handy rest punish. I'm not sure if you can nipplespike the first dair to ensure they go offstage, but either way the angle of the second one often gives you the kill.

My second best rest punish ever was dair-dair-techchase dair-nipplespike. Killed from 0%.

My actual best was phantom jab to falcon punch. I even recorded it.

sounds like your second best was actually your best

one time in tourney kishprime rested my shield, i falcon punched the wrong way then just turned around and falcon punched again and still got the kill

I'll look at it later

But for Winston
I think you have the same problems as I do for now
Meaning that you need to work on your movement first and foremost

Tech chasing with grabs is great
And Wenbo is really slippery with recovery lmao

Kage I'll let you know later when I have more time xD

I only watched the first match but I thought it was pretty silly to put up a critique video against someone who you obviously know is going to tech in on like the first 3 chances to tech. Made me just rolleyes.jpg pretty hard.

Walt I told him to put it here
considering he said "what do you think" and posted a video of him playing

But anyway I watched the whole thing and initial reaction is that you play Falcon like Ganon
That match on DL
I feel like that last stock, SSF started to understand how Falcon worked

then immediately got four stocked afterwards lmao

But that double knee into the reverse knee for the ledgeguard was ****ing sexy
