Canceling projectiles
with Wings of Icarus.

Mario?

- -

Here's a list with all projectiles that can be canceled by the wingpush effect of Pits up-b. You can either just Up-B, which is pretty dumb, and wingdash*. Wingdash is obviously better for canceling out projectiles. Anyway, here's the list:

Bulbasaur - Razorleaf.
Diddy - None.
Falco - None.
Fox - None.
Gaymenwatch - Pan.
ICs - None.
Link - Arrows, boomerang.
Lucario - Aura sphere, till full charge.
Lucas - PK fire.
Luigi - Fireballs.
Mario - Fireballs.
Ness - PK fire, PK thunder.
Pikachu - Thunderjolt, the ground one.
Pit - Arrows.
ROB - Gyro, uncharged or a little bit charged.
Samus - Homing missles, charge shot, to a certain charge.
Sheik - None.
Snake - Mines.
Sonic - Spring.
Squirtle - Watergun, charged only.
Toon link - Arrows, boomerang.
Wolf - None.
Yoshi - Eggs.
Zelda - None.
ZSS - Stun shot, fully charged too.

* : How to wingdash? (you should know by now).

I think he means that you can cancel out pits arrows with WoI.

you can cancel out G&W's bacon, you can also probably cancel out Zelda's dins fire if you time it correctly but I'm not sure.

Very weak uncharged Lucario Aura Spheres should be able to be canceled as well.
Pit's arrows can be canceled, as well as Samus' Homing missiles (The Green missiles are too strong and will just hit you. The Samus B can be stopped, but make sure that it doesn't get charged too much.

I was actually planning to make this list... great minds and all that.

Going to go do some testing... going to have to multi-post, PSP gives me a tiny character limit for posting, and laptop is fried.

LOL at Char limit. Great researching. You could just put items on for beam sword...but I'm sure it won't cancel it...

I've canceled Samus' Super Missile before but never intentionally. In fact I can't do it intentionally. Whenever I somehow do manage to nerf a Super Missile with Pit's WoI it's by mistake. And I must've pulled this off half a dozen times this year.

Is there a reason that you posted 6 times?

Does anyone know about Zss zapping blaster thing lol, I don't think it would cancel it but it might.

Thanks a lot! I tested some things but you already mentioned it. Lucarios Aura Sphere is possible, full charged or not. Full charged is hard tho and I would reather mirror it.

Rogue pit - Lol, xD, 2 good. Youre right actually, but yeah..

God only knows how much i hate your kind of posting rogue ....

I could:
http://super-smash-bros.wikia.com/wiki/Spot_dodge
http://super-smash-bros.wikia.com/wiki/Mirror_Shield
http://super-smash-bros.wikia.com/wiki/Planking#Planking

But the thing that is discussed here is cancelling projectiles with WoI, stop being such a child.

--- =] ---

Nice thread x) You should make a tiny movie with some projectiles being canceled by WoI. And have a little explanation of how WoI can be executed effectively.

I'm not the most experienced Angel on these boards, but while powershielding is usually the better option, I think that we're overlooking an advantage if we ignore this altogether.

WoI can be done in the air, it has a larger range and a larger window of opportunity than the powershield. It also has the wind push, though the use of that is highly situational. If you use WoI to block a projectile in the air, you don't lose it (since it cancels the move) and you recover faster than an airdodge. If you do it near the edge while recovering, you'll grab the ledge as well, instead of possibly airdodging through.

It also neutralizes every one of Oli's smashes, making him much easier to approach. Just watch out for grabs. Even if you wind push him away, he's still in range.

Hell, he could be on the next TV and he'd probably still be in range...

Oh, and next time I want to make a post that big, I'll just write it down and pop down to the library or a friends house or something. My apologies.

There is no point in canceling the fireball especially when you wont know when the Zelda will stop her Fireball. And if it's too strong, you'll still get hurt.

Lezard - Yeah... But its not worth the trouble.

I liked the idea of making a video where you can see that pit cancels the projectiles on the list, it would be cool. But I cant make it, no recording or editing things. Anyone who wanna do it?

tiku like i have no idea who you are. Like i could care less if you "like" my posting, ive never heard of you in tournament play, your so insignificant.
Undr was joking btw.

Now if you want me to actually post, here we go.
This thread if pointless, for flashiness you have my approval, but for competitive play it isnt necessary.
I posted a link to Smashwiki's powershielding because people here apparently forgot that fundamentals are more important. It is faster and more profitable to powershield a projectile rather wingdash cancel it. So why not do the fastest thing which opens ur window to more options and your opponent's punishment is greater.
Tikun you posting links to valuable things contributes also. thank you :) but powershielding is also faster than the other options listed :p

Unfortunately, he speaks the truth. I slowly lost some of my little fancy business to handle particular matchups, and that's where the fundamentals are key as well as matchup knowledge.

Personally, I only use WoI as a cancel if I feel like being a show-off ****.

Which is a lot.

Yeah, board fight!
Exactly, personally i use to ride my bike past girls with no hands while txting on my phone. I know it's dangerous, i live in philadelphia, i can easily get hit by a car, and they can keep going. But i did it to show off/impress the girls. I would reach my destination faster if i ignore the girls i wasnt gonna talk to, and ride with my hands but this thread is giving example of when to ride with no hands and which girls to do it to, when reaching the destination is the only the only thing that matters.
