In answering the topic, you can't take one tournament and accurately judge someone in comparison to everyone else. The player needs to consistently place the same if not very close in multiple tournaments. For instance, Taj and Shroomed. Both amazing players, and apparently up and coming. However, you can't say they're 3rd best and 5th best respectively until they place the same or close to it in multiple tournaments. Probably after about 4 or 5 tournaments where everyone it's at is when it's safe to say so.

Err..........

I mean, I'm still not saying Armada's the best, but he fills this criteria at least ^^

Personally I don't think you can really call anyone the clear best. To me the clear best is one who consistently wins and comes up on top. At this moment no one has really has consistently won and dominated. I never like to use "best in the world" unless they can dominate over a period of time. If Armada continues to dominate, win and keep beating mango, pp, hbox etc. then yes. But what if he doesn't win the next one? Too early to give the title, just as people were giving it to PP.

mangos puff got 3 stocked by dr. peepee

dr. peepee did worse than shroomed

your argument is invalid

:troll:
to be fare, puff is one of pp's best MU by far these days. The guy's studied it like a science. Also he said he was playing at his best (moreso than how he played all weekend) when he played against mango in friendlies, on I believe day 2. He described mango's puff as being old school.(not being able to handle the falco's pressure game)

Maybe mango may have done better with puff against a floaty(armada's peach), but from what I can tell his fox was his best bet that day. Also it's highly unlikely armada would've stayed peach (CP with YL) based on the results he's yielded against hbox.

Y.link counter would have not worked since mango has mastered other high tiers. If mango could have beaten armada's peach with puff, he prob would have won. Armada was the best.

No, being champion and being the best isn't the same thing. Though the best will more often become champion because he's the best... Champion is just a title.
It's especially silly to conclude someone has to be the best becayse he narrowingly won a single match/set.
(As an example.... I can admit that Denmark wasn't the best football team in europe in 1992 even though we won the tournament that year)

guys i told you all the time that armada is the best player in the world. and that the losses on previous tournaments could be explained. he has never been worse than anyone else its just the fact that he run into hard matchups or was just unlucky/had a bad day. you considered hungrybox better than armada after apex and just half a year later hungrybox couldnt even stand a chance.

also you really like calling me a fanboy but especially those who do so are johnning now for mango to no end. but with the most ridicilous johns ever, like mango wanted armada to win or puff woulde have done it or mango did 5 suicides in the set (lol) or he played a too agressive style and so on.

the only thing what seperates me from you is that my posts are actually serious

Its no big deal Armada won and he deserved it. Better luck next time and even if hes the best ok doesn't mean it has to last forever, so just try harder.

I think we're about done here, the ratio of spam/unlreated discussion to on topic-ness is about 10:1.

Declaring someone "the best" due to a single win where the win came at the helm o a 3-2 set is a bit premature, Johns for either side aside. At this single tournament, yes, Armada was the best. He is also, due to Genesis 2's nature, the reigning World Champion. It is pre-mature to declare him "The best" or "Not the best".

For the moment, he's "the champion".

Yes, Armada completely dominates European tournaments, but that doesn't mean he's automatically better than Mango just because he beat Mango this one time. Likewise, Mango completely dominates the American scene, but that doesn't mean he's automatically better than Armada just because he's only lost to him once.

These two have gone up against each other several times and each time, it's a close finish. Neither side dominates the other, thus they are both close. What's more important is that since they play completely different characters with completely different styles, one cannot say "Oh, X is better than Y because X beat Y". One measures one's superiority in skill not on whether or not one can beat one's opponent but by whom one can beat in relation to said opponent.

I.e., it is not a case of A beats B = A > B but a case of A beats C, D, E while B doesn't = A > B. If one can beat roughly the same players as one's opponent, then it comes down to by how much.

Either way, it is premature to declare either player superior to the other, especially when they're so close in skill both against each other and others. For now, Armada is the champion. Is he currently better than Mango? That is still up in the air. The difference between these two players may be so infinitesimal that they might routinely switch positions in who's better at any given time.

And why is it so important to declare either the world's best player, anyway? What are you, blind fanboys? For now, I'd call them two of the world's most if not the world's two most skilled players.
