Derail is one of the few maps that I'll actually do that, and I find it insanely fun. However, most of the games I play now I'm rushing with a SPAS-12 or an SMG, and I enjoy that a lot.
And actually, most of my games on Derail, I end up going flawless with over 20 kills. I would at least say I get maximum 3 deaths. My party picks up the rest of the kills. And yes, what I do on Derail is camping, and quite effectively, but that's the best way to get a good score in that oversized piece of **** excuse of a map. Why would I rush when people can see me from across the map?
Ugh. The word "camping" in my opinion is often used as an excuse by the player who got killed trying to justify their death. People do it, but that's because sometimes it's just the smart thing to do. Corner camping is not the same thing as holding down an area, and if I'm in a corner for a few seconds because I hear footsteps and know someone's coming, don't expect me to move because that's mindless. That's not considered camping to me.
Let's not forget that if you play TDM, you just want kills, and air support is what you want to succeed in doing so. Rushing in this game just can't always be successful with the way things are, but defensive play can be. Going 30-29 in a TDM rushing doesn't prove you're good to me, because you basically hurt the team as much as you helped it. You can't die in order to gain killstreaks. If I play defensively and go 30-1 in a TDM people automatically say I was camping. I play tactically and give myself an advantage, how are you going to flame me for playing smart?
Rushing against a defensive player like myself will just end up bad. I'm not saying it's absolutely mindless/impossible to rush, but it just doesn't pay off as much through my eyes and with tubes and commando and such, along with terrible spawns, you're more often than not going to die. I just play the game tactically, and do what I need to do to win. People act as if there is a rulebook that says "no camping" or in other cases, "stop playing smarter than me and just run through the middle of the map because it's more fun." People need to give that word a rest and just play the game.
