A thought occured to me the other day that may have occured to you. Captain Falcon and Ganondorf... Do either of them really fight like this? I'm not talking about clones or anything in that vein, no this is more about the general moveset itself. The main question here is... who does it belong to?
Rewind to SSB 64. Captain Falcon is introduced with a completely made-up set of moves. His appearances thus far have been exclusive to racing games, making this his first outing in the fighting genre. Now unless I'm horribly wrong, the whole 'Falcon Kick', 'Falcon Punch', and so-on pretty much came out of nowhere.
Now here comes Melee. Ganondorf is introduced and is very similar to the Captain. Now as I said, this isn't about calling anyone clones or complaining. I stand by that. Having only so much experience with the Legend of Zelda series, I can't give much of an answer here, but... To which character does the fighting style better suit? Does Ganondorf do anything resembling his specials outside of the Smash Universe? Its clear C.F has nothing to do with it- so does that mean the whole thing is completely made up?
Now obviously Sakurai didn't predict he'd put Ganon in Melee but wanted Smash 64 Falcon to play like him... So what those of you knowledgeable about the LoZ series, can you enlighten me here? If I missed some F-Zero game where Falcon leaps out of his car and starts opening a fiery assault of punches and kicks on his big Samurai buddy, let me know. Seriously.
