I'll be playing both most likely.

As long as the brawl boards die, I will be happy. :estatic: That's off topic but I need to get it off my chest.

64 vs. Melee, will you switch over?

I'll play a little bit of THIS and a lot of THAT. Obviously you know what I'm referring to by THIS and THAT.

Closer than you think...
I wish Brawl were Melee 2.0, but it's not. I'll play Melee occasionally, but mostly Brawl, in its state of slow, burdensome, wavedash-less physics system and auto-sweetspotting.

really? brawl has potential?! lol. i'll most likely be playing brawl if everybody switches over (nothing for it but to follow the crowd i suppose..unless there's still a melee crowd) but i wish brawl would stay casual and melee would be the competitive smash.

though advanced techs could be discovered in brawl, my friends talk about patches that could change the game as needed to get rid of advanced techs...is this true? but if Cobra says it looked like it has potential, then hell, i'm all for tryiing new things =D

Olimar is dumb....<_<

I dont like half the additions they added to Brawl...
Ex: Olimar, Pokemon Trainer, Diddy...

Melee will live on forever!
Who cares? So you are telling me that Mewtwo, Pichu, and Doc Mario and the idea of CLONES were good additions to melee? They could have inserted Waluigi or Wario into melee and made them COMPLETELY different characters but they made CLONES because nintendo ran out of good ideas at the time.

Yes, i agree olimar is a stupid addition but you need to consider a couple of things.

A-Nintendo had a WIDE RANGE of audiences to please in terms of making this game-making it a "family title" by sticking to the wiis known gameplay type, pleasing the die hard (us) smash brothers fans, and intriguing new comers to enjoy the title as well.

B-At first, no one discovered the many aspects of melee-wavedashing, wave landing, etc...Give brawl TIME...im sure it has some nifty glitches to it.

C-They wanted to make the game DIFFERENT and NEW. If they wanted another melee the game would be called "Super Smash Brothers:Melee II" but its not melee...its another addition like the jump from N64 to gamecube.

Your also going to sit there and tell me that *SPOILERS!!!* Marth does not look cool/better? Falcos two guns arent cool looking? Online play is stupid?

You need to think your ideas through just a little bit more my friend.

In the long run its obvisouly going to die out I have a hard time imaging that people will be playing in 10 years from now, but I think it will last first this generation of systems

Who cares about Wifi...seriously!? The whole point of playing smash brothers is to actually hangout with friends, socialize, talk trash, and just enjoy the fun of seeing expressions on peoples faces after you own them badly...or their reaction after you just got owned.....The internet does not give you that experience....at all.

I'm probably gonna switch over to Brawl, but hey, maybe I'll pull off a few matches of Melee with my friends.

I will never, ever, ever play Melee again.

Never.

Smash 64? Maybe, but 99.9% Brawl.

Brawl all the way.
I might still play melee here and there, but honestly, Brawl will be the one I play the most.

play brawl till my balls fall off. but ill never stop playing melee.
My thoughts exactly.

To me, Brawl plays like a buffed up version of SSB 64. It's a great game and still great fun, but the gameplay, which I believe is the heart of any game, was improved in Melee, and Nintendo has reverted those improvements. I would have been happier if Brawl's gameplay was really new and innovative, but it feels like the old style of SSB 64.

Like I said, Brawl is a great game, but it won't have the lasting power of Melee.

its almost impossible to do sik combos in brawl unless the other person is a complete ****** and doesnt DI the right way... brawl is sooooo slow... the best thing you can do in brawl is a spike... wow gj like i havent done that a million times in melee with falco.. who they made very gay takin out his smash and his reflector pwnage... brawl is not competitive at all i meen u can trip for *** sake i dont kno who it was that said it but if ur playing in a tourney for 10000 dollars or sumthing do u really wanna take the chance of tripping and getting smashed outa the ring to end it? the only reason i play brawl right now is cause everyone who is a noob at melee thinks brawl is the most fun thing ever... i meen watch the online matches with azen in them its nothing special all they do is space... anyone can beat a pro now thats not the way it should be hence the word "pro" BRING BACK COMBO'S SMASH BROS PLZZZZ

I haven't even unlocked all the characters on my brawl yet. It might be a while. The game makes me so mad. It's like.....boring and dumb. Maybe it's time to throw in the ole towel.

Brawl tourney videos are hideously boring...
qft

Brawl is fun sort of I can't sit and play it for prolonged periods of time.

Also melee was the only fighting game I even played so switching from something so fast to something so slow is sorta hard....

In the end though I hate brawl more than I like brawl.

Hey BigR that's a Hillllllarious quote from Bailey.

Although I thought it would be along the lines of, "I furiously masturbated to angry pornography, then I decided to play some brawl. However, after playing for a little while I decided to resume my furious masturbation as that was more exciting and enjoyable."

P.S. BTW, this is Aj / as is often used while smashing, Haj

Melee i couldnt sit there by myself and just play i get bored. I am like that with other fighting games. i think that brawl is a game where everyone can be good.

I haven't seen a pichu in the finals yet lols... I agree that melee has a lot of characters that don't have it going for them and aren't worth the effort so you can always expect the same thing at tournies. It makes the competition a tad bit boring...

And lols the clones...

In a case like this, its not a matter of choice.

In the end, for those who take the game seriously (even casually) are gonna be force to make the transition to Brawl.
Too many people are getting into the game, and even people who despised Melee are loving Brawl (like the OG fighting game players). For every week the game has been out in America, the community is becoming larger and larger of random people jumping into the game.

When that day will be whenever makes the change? Who knows, but it will be somewhat soon.

Also, about watching vids for matches.
I'd have to say its all generally personal preference. It's not like Melee matches were entertaining to watch, either...

wow are you kidding me, watch any of m2ks marth vids....if those aren't entertaining to you then by all means move on to the slower and apparently, to those of you who aren't of quick wit, the more frantic and simplistic version of melee known as brawl.

btw i know of entertaining videos for any character you can name in melee. In other words I know of players that **** entire crews with even the so-called ****ty characters and furthermore do it in style.

You're right about the same characters being played over and over. I'm kind of tired seeing the same character matchups over and over again in tournament.

But being a space animal player, I will never get tired of Falco / Fox because there are limitless possibilities with them. Even after years and years of competitive play, I / others still discover gamebreaking new ways to combo and approach and do things more efficiently / flashily.

"I think that brawl is a game where everyone can be good." I think that's exactly the problem with Brawl. Brawl is just too easy to pick up. Execution and tech skill are too easy to perfect because you simply can't do as much. Also, the loss of hitstun / grab combos / combos in general make it very difficult to punish mistakes even when they do happen. I admit that it takes a lot of focus and mental strength to play this kind of a defensive game, but it does get boring and repetitive very quickly.

Anyways back to the original question. I personally will play Brawl and will show up to tournaments once in a while but I don't have the game and don't intend to buy it. Norcal will hopefully have it's biweeklies back (for melee only) so I think I'm going to stick to Melee :D

dude it's all the same **** over and over again...
I never like to see marth play anyways because I've seen the stuff done thousands of times in so many different ways it's not fun anymore... it's all because the # of marth players is higher than the population China.

I challenge you to pick pichu and win a legit tournament then we'll talk.

Melee>Brawl by a LOOOONG SHOT!

Melee has:
-Combos
-Edgegame
-Fast placed gameplay
-Balance in gameplay (you think I'm crazy right?)
-Better stages (I SAID IT!)

Brawl has:
-Better graphics, not OUTSTANDING!
-More characters
-Stage builer
-Online (which is not fun unless you're playing in With Friends. It is also a hassle to get a match)

Yeah, you decide.

P.S. What I meant by Melee having a balanced game is that you can get equal rewards for playing defensively and offensively. Also, you can actually USE grabs in Melee.
